The episode began with Alexis on the couch pondering over something when she was scared by a sound Richard made. She then noticed that he was dressed in a suit fit for a game of laser tag but she told him that she could not play at that moment. Alexis then complained to her father about some college issues.

Richard spoke with Martha about Alexis and he mentioned how odd it seemed that Alexis did not now seem to want to play one of her favorite games, that being laser tag. Richard then noticed that Kate was calling his cell phone but he refused to take the call.

He informed Martha that he and Kate were not on good terms at that point but she encouraged him to go to Kate. Richard departed to head towards a crime scene.

Richard went to a crime scene with the team and Javier identified the victim as being David Lock. He stated that David was 29 years old so they first wanted to know what the cause of death was for him. The official there from the coroner's office stated that he believed it was due to blunt force trauma to the head.

Richard and Kate questioned the victim's supervisor to see if he could give them anything helpful about the investigation. The supervisor claimed that he was going to promote someone and it came down to either David Lock or Charlie Coleman. He elected for David and claimed that this really upset Charlie so therefore Charlie became angry with David.

Richard and Kate went over to talk with Charlie since they wanted to find out more about his whereabouts when David was murdered. Charlie claimed that he had been bitten by someone just before David had turned up dead. It was revealed that Charlie and David both had been bitten by the same person.

Kate questioned someone who she believed was the one who had ended up killing David Lock so he claimed that he was at the law library during the murder. The team checked out his alibi and it turned out to be true since people had spotted him at the law library when David Lock's murder resulted. Kate was disappointed since she believed this person was the killer.

Richard, Kate and the rest of the team started to suspect that the victim had been killed by someone dressed as a zombie. They encountered numerous people dressed as zombies so they decided to question them all. One of them they questioned claimed he was an Assistant Professor of Anthropology so they showed him a photo to see if he recognized a certain someone.

The individual claimed that he did indeed recognize that person and stated his name was Kyle.

Richard and Kate interviewed Kyle since there was a lot of evidence mounting against him as David's killer, such as the bite marks matching his. Kyle also identified himself on a photo that continually buttressed the belief that he murdered David. Shortly after this, Richard informed Kate how he suspected that Kyle was not giving them the entire story.
