They were in jeopardy of losing their home, the collateral for the shop, as the bank would take it despite being worth less than they'd loaned the Conners for it. Two mortgages had equaled more than the current value of their home, which the bank had not realized upon granting the second loan.

After the family meeting about having no income, Becky expected her unemployed father to find work for her boyfriend. This resulted in a shouting match about how Dan had let down their entire family. Mark did not need help, as he had a friend named Rick in Minneapolis who'd offered him a great job. Becky asked him not to go, but changed her mind.


Minneapolis was about a six hour (fictional) journey from Lanford. I based the time on real cities named on the show that were said to be in the vicinity of Lanford.

Dan and Roseanne were in the shop when the collect call from Becky. She told Dan she'd gotten married and Roseanne immediately took the phone. When Becky couldn't get her mom calmed down, she just left the phone hanging and her mom talking. I guess she felt too guilty to hang up on her mom.
