Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "M*A*S*H" - While most of the characters from the movie were carried over to the television series, only two actors/actresses appeared in both and played the same character. Only one was a recurring role past the first season. Who was the actor/actress?

Answer: Gary Burghoff

Gary Burghoff, as Walter "Radar" O'Reilly, was the only one to make the transition from the big to small screen in a regular role past the first season. G. Wood, as General Hammond, appeared in the movie and three episodes of the first season. General Clayton (Herb Voland) replaced General Hammond in the occasional role.
2. "Saturday Night Live" - Who was the only U. S. President to say the famous line "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night"?

Answer: Gerald Ford

Gerald Ford said those famous words on April 17th while campaigning in the 1976 election against Jimmy Carter. The host for that night was Ron Nessen and the musical guest was Patti Smith.
3. "Happy Days" - Who was the oldest Cunningham kid?

Answer: Chuck

The eldest, Chuck, was phased out of the show, because, according to Garry Marshall, "We realized that Fonzie was really the 'big brother' character the show needed". In the show's finale, Howard Cunningham comments that he's proud of his "two kids", referring to Richie and Joanie, completely forgetting poor Chuck.
4. "The Rockford Files" - What kind of car did Jim Rockford drive?

Answer: Pontiac Firebird

The tan Pontiac Firebird was in most of the 133 episodes sustaining only minor body damage despite the numerous car chases. It was finally shown "t-boned" and destroyed in a made-for-TV "Rockford Files" movie in the '90's.
5. "Mork & Mindy" - "Mork & Mindy" was a spin-off of what highly rated television show?

Answer: "Happy Days"

Mork (Robin Williams) had two appearances on "Happy Days". In the 1978 season, Mork battles the Fonz for the right to take Richie back to Ork for study. Mork returns in the 1979 season to get advice from the gang on relationships. The first appearance in February 1978 was so popular, the network gave Robins Williams his own show the following season.
6. "Battlestar Galactica" - The twelve human colonies' names were based on what?

Answer: The Zodiac

Only eight of the twelve colonies were mentioned in the series, they were: Aeries, Caprica, Gemoni, Picon, Sagitaria, Scorpion, Tauron, and Virgon. The battlestar, "Galactica", was a Caprican vessel.
7. "Kung Fu" - Who had the lead role of Caine?

Answer: David Carradine

David Carradine was selected by the producers because of his skills as a dancer and was the best known actor of all the choices. According to Bruce Lee's wife, Linda Lee Cadwell, the concept of the Kung Fu series was conceived by Bruce, but the producers did not offer the role to Bruce Lee since they did not feel that the American audience would accept a Chinese actor as a lead, therefore looked for a Caucasian actor to fill the role.
8. "Ironside" - What was Ironside's job?

Answer: Consultant

Robert Ironside, played by Raymond Burr, was a former San Francisco Chief of Detectives who, after being shot and paralyzed, was hired as a civilian consultant. In many of the early episodes, Ironside and his team would drive around in an armored car. However, during the second season they replaced it with his more familiar van.
9. "Adam 12" - What show's characters occasionally appeared on "Adam 12" and the "Adam 12" characters appeared on their show?

Answer: "Emergency!"

The paramedics from "Emergency!", Desoto and Gage, crossed paths on a couple occasions with Officers Malloy and Reed at Rampart Hospital. In one episode, the firefighters are watching "Adam 12" when they are dispatched to a call. Throughout the rest of the show, the firemen are on the phone to anyone, trying to find out what they missed.
10. "Little House on the Prairie" - The show was based on what author's books?

Answer: Laura Ingalls Wilder

Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote seven books about her life. The second, published in 1935, was "Little House on the Prairie" and was the basis for the television show.
