John Hoyt portrayed Colonel Barker on "The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin". He was the source of the idea that if Rusty was made an honorary soldier, he and Rin Tin Tin would be allowed to remain at the fictional Fort Apache, in Arizona Territory. Actor John Hoyt also appeared in films including "Blackboard Jungle" (1955) and "Spartacus" (1960).
2. "The Phil Silvers Show" (1955-1959)

Colonel Hall was often the target of the scams that Sergeant Bilko would attempt on "The Phil Silvers Show". Actor Paul Ford, who portrayed Colonel Hall, was known for making occasional flubs of lines during live performances before the studio audience.

The series was set at fictional Fort Baxter in Kansas. Paul Ford also portrayed Mayor Shinn in the 1962 film version of "The Music Man".

The series "Twelve O'Clock High" was based on a 1949 film of the same name. Set during World War 2, the series focused on the Army Air Corps. Colonel Potter served as the commanding officer of the 4077th on the fourth through eleventh seasons of "M*A*S*H". A veteran of both World Wars, Potter had served in the cavalry before becoming a surgeon. Unlike the previous commander, Lt. Colonel Blake, Potter was created for the television series. Actor Harry Morgan, who portrayed Potter, had previously appeared on "M*A*S*H" as a one-off character, General Hamilton, in the third season, and would reprise Potter in the spin-off "AfterMASH".
6. "The Six Million Dollar Man" (1973-1978)

Colonel Steve Austin was the titular Six Million Dollar Man. Seriously injured in a plane crash, parts of Austin's body were replaced with cybernetic parts, granting enhanced abilities such as greater speed, strength, and hearing. The series and the television movies that preceded it were loosely based on the 1972 novel "Cyborg". Actor Lee Majors, who portrayed Colonel Austin, also had important roles in the television series "The Big Valley" (1965-1969) and "The Fall Guy" (1981-1986).
7. "Baa Baa Black Sheep" (1976-1978)

The series followed the missions of a air squadron during World War Two in the South Pacific. Colonel Lard was a superior officer of "Pappy" Boyington. The two often clashed, though the Colonel secretly felt that "Pappy" and his squad had a lot of potential. Dana Elcar, who played Lard, also appeared in the 1980s television series "MacGyver".

He also directed the "Baa Baa Black Sheep" episode "W*A*S*P*S".
8. Private Benjamin (1981-1983)

Answer: Colonel Lawrence Fielding

Colonel Fielding appeared in the second and third seasons of "Private Benjamin". The 1981-1983 series was based on the 1980 movie of the same name. Fielding was occasionally the focus of the episode of a plot. In one episode, he was the victim of a mugging. Actor Robert Mandan who portrayed Fielding also had roles on television series "Soap" and "Three's a Crowd".
9. "The A-Team" (1983-1987)

"The A-Team" focused on an elite squad from the Vietnam War who had been unfairly imprisoned. Escaping from prison, the team served as soldiers of fortune. Actor George Peppard also had starring roles in the films "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (1961) and "The Carpetbaggers" (1964).
10. "Pensacola: Wings of Gold" (1997-2000)

James Brolin portrayed Lt. Colonel Kelly, a commander of a training squad stationed at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida. The television series ran for three seasons and 66 episodes. Though set in Florida, many of the scenes, indoor and outdoor, were filmed in the San Diego area. Actor James Brolin also had starring roles in the television series "Marcus Welby, MD" and "Hotel".
