Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. On the highly popular TV show "Happy Days" that ran on American TV from 1974 to 1984, what was patriarch Howard Cunningham's job?

Answer: Owned a hardware store

It was imaginatively named "Cunningham Hardware". Apparently Mr. C, played by Tom Bosley, was successful enough at it to support his family.
2. In the long-running classic TV sit-com "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet", what was Ozzie's profession?

Answer: It was never revealed

In real life, Ozzie Nelson was a bandleader. He and his singing wife, Harriet, brought their show to television in 1952 where it enjoyed an 11-year run dealing mostly with the problems of their two young sons, David and Ricky, as they grew up and came of age.

Despite this, it was never indicated what the character Ozzie did for a living on the show. He always just seemed to be hanging around the house.
3. Jim Anderson on "Father Knows Best" had chosen what career?

Answer: Insurance agent

Robert Young portrayed the wise and patient patriarch of the Anderson family. He was employed by the General Insurance Company.
4. On the popular '60s sit-com, what did Steve Douglas do to earn a living on "My Three Sons"?

Answer: Engineer

Steve worked for Universal Research and Development, Inc. as an aerospace design engineer. Fred MacMurray taped all his scenes for this show within a limited time frame which were later edited into the other scenes. This method freed him from the weekly grind of filming a TV show.
5. "Love That Bob" (a.k.a. "The Bob Cummings Show") was an early TV vehicle for actor Bob Cummings. What was his profession in this show?

Answer: Photographer

Cummings played swinging bachelor, Bob Collins, a Hollywood photographer often called on to photograph beautiful starlets. The character was also a reservist in the Air Force. In the show's introduction, Cummings stood facing the viewers and said, "Hold it, I think you're gonna like this picture.", then snapped a flash camera.
6. On the classic TV show "Mr. Ed", Wilbur Post found himself the frustrated owner of a horse that could talk. What was Wilbur's stay-at-home occupation?

Answer: Architect

Wilbur and Carol Post bought a country home that included a barn and a palomino horse, Mr. Ed. Unfortunately for Wilbur, Ed only talked to him. This resulted in many hilariously uncomfortable situations for the hapless architect who had his office in the barn where Mr. Ed constantly offered unwanted advice or made unreasonable demands. Mr. Ed's mellifluous baritone speaking voice was provided by western movie star Allan Lane.

This show ran from 1961-66.
7. Which of these actors did not portray a person of a religious calling on TV between 1955 and 1990?

Answer: Tab Hunter

Sally Field was Sister Bertrille in "The Flying Nun". Alexander Gauge played Friar Tuck in the TV version of "The Adventures of Robin Hood". Tom Bosley had the role of Father Dowling, a crime solving priest, in "Father Dowling Mysteries".
8. What profession did the following actors have in common on various TV shows - Broderick Crawford, Vince Edwards and Bobby Troup?

Answer: Doctors

Crawford portrayed Dr. Peter Goldstone on "The Interns". Edwards was famous for his role as Dr. Ben Casey. Troup was the amicable Dr. Joe Early on "Emergency".
9. Which of these TV shows did not have a cartoonist as the protagonist?

Answer: Fair Exchange

On "He and She", Richard Benjamin portrayed Dick Hollister, creator of the cartoon "Jetman". Tab Hunter was Paul Morgan who worked as a cartoonist for Comics, Inc., drawing "Bachelor-at-Large" which closely chronicled the character's own life. William Windom starred in "My World and Welcome to It", playing a cartoonist who interacted with his creations.
10. On "M*A*S*H", most of the characters were doctors, nurses or medics serving in the Army during the Korean War. However, from time to time they had to call on Dr. Sidney Freedman for assistance. What was Dr. Freedman's specialty?

Answer: Psychiatry

Played by Allan Arbus, Dr. Freedman was called on more often to counsel the staff of the 4077th more than for the soldiers they treated for battle injuries. One of his famous sayings was "Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice."
