Ally has gone to see her therapist Tracey because she is worrying about the fact that she has begun to have 'impure thoughts' about an eighteen year old 'boy', Jason, who is a witness in the case she is trying. Tracey speculates that Ally associates love with being young, because being with Billy at 18 was the last time she felt it, and that is why she is attracted to someone so much younger than her.

This exchange is from the second episode of season two, "They Eat Horses, Don't They?"

Elaine: "What's wrong?"

Ally: "Nelle."

Elaine: "Don't tell me she's good?"

Ally: "She's great! She's poised, she doesn't pull at her hair, nothing comes out of her mouth that she doesn't want to come out, she doesn't over gesticulate and she made a completely impossible cause of action seem totally believable."

Richard and John have just hired Nelle Porter to come and work at Cage and Fish, however Ally, Georgia and Elaine are not happy about this for various reasons. When Nelle agrees to represent Ling in a case concerning freedom of speech on the radio, some of the others at the firm think it is a lost cause but as Ally discovers in the deposition, Nelle is an excellent lawyer, a fact which annoys her more because she is also extremely good looking. The above quote is Ally complaining about this to Elaine.

This exchange was from episode three of season two, "Fool's Night Out".

Billy: "I don't understand. It's not like you suddenly lost something today that you had yesterday!"

Ally and Billy have this confrontation because Ally has come to the realisation that Billy left her not just to make Law Review, like he originally said, but because he had met Georgia in the interim time and with 'one look' fell in love with her.

This rather spiteful exchange took place in the seventh episode of season two, "Happy Trails".

Ling: "Whatever my pain, I can take heart in not being you."

Elaine: "That was very good! Did you know that you're my favourite vicious person in life?"

Elaine expresses delight at the fact that Ling has been upset at finding Whipper Cone naked in Richard's apartment and so Ling retaliates by saying her therapist has advised her to ignore people who don't matter (i.e. Elaine) and thus Elaine is helping her just by existing because it makes Ling feel better about herself.

This exchange happened during the eighth episode of season two, "Just Looking".

Nelle: "Last Saturday, I ran out in the morning to get some coffee, I bumped into somebody from my old firm. He didn't recognize me at first without my make up. Four years; I worked three offices away, he didn't recognize me."

Nelle: "So, there are people who've never seen me without make up!"

Ling: "Nelle, when I hear you talk this way, it makes me wonder; is there a point?"

The question of wearing make up occurs to Nelle because she is in the middle of defending Ling in a trial concerning her mud wrestling club in which Ling is accused of promoting the objectification of women. Nelle realises the make up she wears is just more proof that despite other progress women have made in the workplace; women are 'still things to be looked at' and Ling's mud wrestling club doesn't help matters. She decides to continue with the case but won't do the summation.

These lines are spoken in episode nine of season two, "You Never Can Tell".

Richard: "Sweetheart!"

Ling: "Please don't call me that! I'm not sweet!"

This conversation arises because George has dumped Elaine and she has invented the pregnancy dress in order to get some attention. Noticing this, Ally invites her round to her house so she won't be alone and Elaine says that she will be giving thanks that she has Ally as a friend (because she chose not to date George out of loyalty to Elaine).

This exchange is from the ninth episode of season two, "You Never Can Tell".

Elaine: "I've never spent an un-lonely day in my life."

John: "But you always seem so happy."

Elaine: "Well, happy is easy. You act happy; people see you as happy and you see yourself through their eyes: you feel happy. It doesn't work for lonely... but happy's easy."

John asks Elaine if it is hard for her being alone and she asks how he knew she was dumped by George, then she realises that he has just presumed. He then asks her if she ever gets lonely.

Richard: "All right, look. She's just a woman. You're intimidated by her beauty, the long legs, the incredible hair, the porcelain face... That's probably it!"

John: "What?"

John: "Perhaps you should leave."

John has been trying to sneak up on Nelle in order to give her a Christmas kiss but keeps being foiled in his attempts. Richard says he thinks John is afraid to kiss her, however, John explains that they already kissed but he feels like it is his turn to take the initiative because usually it is Nelle who makes the first move.

This was said in episode fourteen of season two, "Pyramids on the Nile".

Billy: "You were unprepared. You walked into court today assuming an easy victory, you didn't do the leg work, you were unprofessional to the point of malpractice and since I was second chair that performance was a reflection on me. Don't you EVER let that happen again!"

Ally: "Hold on a second! I don't work for you! And even if I did, nobody talks to me like that!"

Billy: "It's time somebody should!"

Before going to court Billy saw Greg telling Ally he was stretching Valentine's Day into two days and Billy was jealous of their public display of affection. When the judge threw their case out of court Billy was unjustifiably hostile toward Ally and used the fact of her loss in court to rant at her when really he was just annoyed about the Greg situation.
