Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The last envoy of an elite rebel group that was defeated 250 years ago.

Answer: Takeshi Kovacs

Takeshi "Tak" Kovacs is a Slavic Japanese character who is re-sleeved in a new body (played by Joel Kinnaman) 250 years after his death. In season 2, Tak enters a new host body, this time played by Anthony Mackie. In his original body, Tak is portrayed by Will Yun Lee.
2. A tough Bay City PD lieutenant from a religious neo-Catholic family.

Answer: Kristin Ortega

Ortega is played by Martha Higareda. She comes from a Mexican American family and wants to keep an eye on Tak because he has been re-sleeved in her late boyfriend's body.
3. A wealthy meth who hires the last envoy to solve his murder.

Answer: Laurens Bancroft

The term "meth" comes from Methuselah, the oldest man in the Bible, who lived to be 969 years old. Wealthy people are able to clone themselves and resleeve their "stacks" into new cloned bodies in order to live potentially immortal lives. Played by James Purefoy, Bancroft is murdered and re-sleeved from a backup, but he has no memory of the last 48 hours before his backup and wants Tak to find his murderer.
4. The proprietor of the AI hotel that serves as Takeshi Kovac's operational base.

Answer: Edgar Poe

The hotel has a macabre theme and is run by an AI in the form of Edgar Allan Poe, who goes by Edgar Poe and is played by Chris Conner. "Altered Carbon" was first released in 2018 on Netflix.
5. Takeshi Kovac's sister and a powerful meth.

Answer: Reileen Kawahara

Played by Dichen Lachman (and by Elizabeth Maxwell in resleeved form), Reileen (Gina) Kawahara is reluctant when Tak joins the Envoys. She was thought to have died when the uprising was put down. The television series was based on the novel by Richard K. Morgan.
6. A former marine whose daughter is caught in a trauma loop.

Answer: Vernon Elliot

Vernon is played by Ato Essandoh. Vernon's wife was imprisoned and his daughter murdered, though he keeps her alive in VR, and he ends up assisting Tak in return for help for his daughter.
7. A daughter, one of twenty-one children, who steals her mother's sleeve.

Answer: Naomi Bancroft

Naomi Bancroft and her mother, Miriam Bancroft, are both played by Kristin Lehman. Miriam is the wife of Lauren Bancroft, and Naomi is his daughter. Naomi sometimes sleeves herself in one of her mother's clones.
8. Creator of stacks and leader of the Envoys.

Answer: Quell Falconer

Quellcrist "Quell" Falconer is played by Renée Elise Goldsberry and becomes a love interest for Tak. She was the creator of stacks, which allows the consciousness to be transferred to a different body after physical death, but later regrets her invention because she fears it will lead to a massive divide in which the rich become immortal and oppress the poor for eternity.
9. A hitman who illegally copied his own stack and tries to apprehend Takeshi Kovacs.

Answer: Dimi the Twin

Dimitri Kadmin earns the nickname of Dimi the Twin because he illegally copied his own stack and placed it in another sleeve. He holds a grudge against both Ortega and Ryker for trying to put him away and tries to apprehend Tak, believing him to be Ryker. Dimitri is played by Tahmoh Penikett.
10. A former Bay City police officer whose sleeve is used to house Takeshi Kovacs' stack.

Answer: Elias Ryker

Elias Ryker, like Tak, is played by Joel Kinnaman. When a childhood friend dies of a supposed suicide, Ryker is suspicious and begins his own investigation, which involves abducting a senior CTAC administrator. After Ryker was placed in storage, Lauren Bancroft purchased his sleeve and had Tak re-sleeved in it.
