Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who played Alice?

Answer: Natalie Gregory

Brunette Natalie Gregory donned a blonde wig when she played Alice. Actress Heather O'Rourke of "Poltergeist" fame was originally slated to play Alice, but had to drop out. Kathryn Beaumont did the voice of Alice in Disney's 1951 "Alice in Wonderland", and the Olsen twins, as they would not be born for another year, had no affiliation with this film whatsoever.

Natalie Gregory was nine-years-old when this film was made.
2. Alice's older sister said that Alice would know that she was grown up when what happened?

Answer: When Alice was asked to tea

Alice was seven and a half, and considered herself quite grown up. However, Alice's older sister informed Alice that to be grown up, one would be asked to join tea with the adults. The thought rather disappointed Alice.

Alice's older sister was played by Natalie Gregory's real-life older sister, Sharee Gregory.
3. Many famous performers had roles in this movie; who played The Mock Turtle?

Answer: Ringo Starr

Richard Starkey, also known as Ringo Starr, was the famed drummer of The Beatles. Also an actor, Ringo had been in several films including "Help!" and "The Magic Christian" before playing The Mock Turtle in "Alice in Wonderland". Ringo was forty-five years old at the time.

The Mock Turtle sang a song called "Nonsense" in the film.
4. Finish the song lyrics: "Why do people act as if they're crazy? Who do they behave the way they do?" What's next?

Answer: "Can't they understand, that the things I've planned..."

Alice was wandering in the forest and found a fawn, to whom she exclaimed "I'm so glad I've found you! You're the most normal person I've met here!". She then started singing it a song. Afterwards, she began to leave, telling the fawn "Go find your mother, and I'll find mine".
5. Who played the White Rabbit?

Answer: Red Buttons

Red Buttons was actually named Aaron Chwatt. However, since he had red hair and wore a buttoned uniform when he worked at a tavern in his teens, Charles "Dinty" Moore, an orchestra leader, called him "Red Buttons". The name stuck.

Red Buttons played on Broadway, in movies, and on television right up until close before he died. He died at his home in Los Angeles of vascular disease on July 13, 2006. He was eighty-seven.
6. Who directed "Alice in Wonderland"?

Answer: Harry Harris

Harry Harris was an award-winning director. Mr. Harris also directed "A Walton Thanksgiving Reunion" and many episodes of "7th Heaven", amongst other things.

He won an Emmy in 1982 for "Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series" for an episode of "Fame" that he directed. That episode was called "To Soar and Never Falter".
7. Who did Alice ask "are you French"?

Answer: The Mouse

Alice was swimming in her own pool of tears and found the Mouse. She asked him if he knew the way out, and he didn't reply, so she wondered if he spoke English. She asked "Are you French? 'Ou est ma chatte'! That means 'where's my cat', you know.". The mouse whined, and Alice realized that he was a mouse - he didn't want to talk about cats.
8. What type of cards were painting the roses red?

Answer: Spades

Alice was dancing a ballet, when she noticed two cards painting roses red. The 2 and 5 of Spades were painting the roses red because the Queen wanted red roses, and they had accidentally put white ones in by mistake. So they were attempting to cover up their mistake before the Queen found out and ordered "off with their heads"!
9. When Alice came home, she found a book; what was it called?

Answer: Jabberwocky

Alice opened the book to find the poem "Jabberwocky". It scared her very much, but she denied it, telling herself that she was not scared. But then the lights in her house went out and the Jabberywocky monster appeared, thus ending part one of this movie.
10. Part one of the movie was called "Alice in Wonderland - Part One". The second part of the movie was sometimes called "Alice in Wonderland - Part Two", but there was a more common name for it - what was it?

Answer: Through the Looking Glass

It was called "Through the Looking Glass", since it was based off of the book Lewis Carroll wrote as a sequel to "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" called "Through the Looking Glass". In "Through the Looking Glass", Alice found herself on the opposite side of her mirror, in another world that looked similar to her own, but was much different otherwise.
