Answer: Frank Spangenberg

Frank Spangenberg did however win the Tenth Anniversary Tournament in 1995. He is best remembered for holding the record for most money won by a five-time champion before the dollar amounts were doubled in 2002, with $102,597 in 1990.
2. Which of the following legends was not invited to play in the Million Dollar Masters Tournament in 2002?

Answer: Leszek Pawlowicz

Leszek Pawlowicz (pronounced Lay-sheck Pauv-low-vich) won the eighth Tournament of Champions in 1992 by defeating another "Jeopardy!" legend, Jerome Vered, in the finals. Many fans of the show (including myself) consider Leszek to be the greatest "Jeopardy!" player of all time.

The Million Dollar prize for the Masters Tournament was won by Brad Rutter, the winner of the 2001 Tournament of Champions.
3. At the time of the 2005 Ultimate Tournament of Champions, who held the record for the most money won in a regular, five-game appearance by a five-time champion who went on to win the Tournament of Champions?

Answer: Tom Cubbage

Tom won the very first College Tournament in 1989, representing Southern Methodist University. He later went on to win the 1989 Tournament of Champions. Before the Ultimate Tournament of Champions, he was the only winner of the College Tournament to win the Tournament of Champions.
8. Who held the record for most money won in a regular five-day appearance by a woman who played in the 2002 Million Dollar Masters Tournament?

Answer: India Cooper

India was a contestant in the eighth season of the show, and ended up winning $68,400 in her five victories.

Jerome won $34,000 on May 21, 1992. Once the dollar amounts were doubled in 2002, it did not take long for his record to fall. The first person to win over $68,000 in one game after the 2002 doubling of the clue values was Ken Jennings, when he won $75,000 on an episode that first aired July 23, 2004.
