Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Sherlock and John are introduced by a mutual friend. What is his last name?

Answer: Stamford

This is one aspect of the show that is true to the stories.
2. When Sherlock and John move into the flat together, the landlady Mrs. Hudson assumes they are what?

Answer: a couple

This is a continuing joke throughout the series; John and Sherlock are constantly mistaken to be together.
3. Shortly after moving in with Sherlock, John's life becomes a lot more interesting -- and dangerous. At one point, John is ushered into an unknown limo and taken to a deserted warehouse. Who is waiting for him there?

Answer: Mycroft Holmes

One wouldn't think so based on his actions, but it seems Mycroft cares for his younger brother! Also, it seems as though theatricality runs in the family.
4. During a cab ride together, Sherlock flaunts his deductive skills by analyzing John's phone. What does John claim Sherlock is after his explanation?

Answer: amazing

John is skeptical of Sherlock's abilities at first, but is blown away once he hears his logic. John continues to praise Sherlock's talent, though Sherlock admits most people simply tell him to "piss off."
5. Sherlock claims to be married to his work, but who is John's love interest?

Answer: Sarah

Despite the numerous probes to John's sexuality, he pursues his co-worker Sarah, not Sherlock.
6. Sherlock gets himself in quite a bind while facing the criminal in "A Study in Pink." Who saves him?

Answer: John Watson

Amazing how the show's creators rework the stories to fit into today's settings. This episode is obviously inspired by the story "A Study in Scarlet," where the villain is a hansom driver, which in turn becomes a cabbie.
7. Mrs. Hudson, as Sherlock's landlady, puts up with quite a lot, from eyeballs in the microwave to a severed head in the fridge. But which of Sherlock's possessions does she continuously confiscate?

Answer: his skull

According to Sherlock, he likes to think aloud, and works out problems by talking to his skull. However, he would look quite insane talking to a skull in public, so he uses John instead. How flattering.
8. Sherlock is incredibly intelligent, but he does not know one bit of information that John claims is "primary school." What does Sherlock not know?

Answer: the solar system

Sherlock argues that his brain is like a hard drive, and it is nonsensical to keep information stored that is not helpful to his work. Hence, there is no reason for him to remember the solar system.
9. While in the mysterious limo, John meets a young woman, typing away on her Blackberry. What is her name?

Answer: Anthea

Though she introduces herself thus, when John asks if this is really her name, she replies "no."
10. In both the stories and in this adaptation, what instrument does Sherlock play?

Answer: violin

Though we never get to really see Sherlock play, he does pluck at the strings to speed up a visit from Mycroft. Younger brothers never cease to annoy, eh?
