While at the Circuit Shack to buy a replacement for their VCR, Peter and Lois are persuaded to purchase a new TiVo for their television. Peter feels that the purchase is much better than the time that he was tricked into buying a pet tyrannosaurus. At the store, the family also experiences a Samuel Adams commercial on a plasma TV.

When the family returns home with their new TiVo, Quagmire is in his driveway with his new Winnebago. He plans to go around the country to sleep with a woman in every state. Later, the family watches TV, and while the rest of the family eats dinner, Stewie and Brian watch the news. Asian Reporter Tricia Takanawa is reporting from San Francisco about a possible name change for the city when Brian and Stewie pause the TiVo to see a man who looks like he's related to Stewie. Stewie determines that this must be his real father.

Answer: To raise the dead

While having a bit of fun with Lois in the backyard, Peter pretends to be Spiderman and hangs off the clothesline. Soon, Meg and Chris show up when Peter and Lois want to be alone and Peter compares them to the annoying announcer on the Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tube Man commercials.
Meanwhile, Stewie prepares to go to San Francisco in order to find his 'real' father. In order to earn money, Stewie tries selling lemonade, but this is unsuccessful.

Answer: Meg

When Meg and Chris walk in on Lois and Peter taking a bath together, they decide to teach them how to get dates in order to get their own privacy. Lois says she'll teach Chris how to attract a woman and Peter says he'll spend time with Meg despite the fact that they always do things together. During their crusade to find the Holy Grail, for example, Peter correctly identified the grail as a coffee mug with Jesus' name printed on it.
When Quagmire decides to leave for his tour, Brian and Stewie tag along to reach San Francisco.

Answer: At a motel

While Quagmire takes a woman into one of the motel rooms, Stewie and Brian wait for him so that they can continue their road trip to California. When Quagmire doesn't return, Stewie investigates and find Quagmire tied up on the bed with no woman in sight. He steals the keys, starts the Winnebago, and they leave Quagmire to save himself. Stewie takes to the road like a natural.

Answer: Charlotte

Lois ends up teaching Chris to be more like a well-groomed guy, but soon, she forces Chris to answer questions that women would know the answers too. When he incorrectly guesses that Scrappy Doo was a character on "Sex and the City", Lois forces him to withstand painful torture. Meanwhile, Meg is forced to withstand Peter's disgusting trials and lessons.

These include shaving his back and smelling his gas in the car.

Answer: RC Cola

After taking pep pills from a truck driver, Stewie drives the Winnebago due west into the Nevada desert. Brian, fearing that they will get lost driving without roads, tries to take the wheel, but they crash into a sand dune and are forced to walk through the desert.

Although they see a Dr. Pepper soda machine in the desert, it's revealed to be a mirage. It's only an RC Cola machine and they're disappointed. Stewie regrets leaving home, but Brian consoles him and they arrive in San Francisco.

Answer: A smoker

Lois and Peter send the kids off to the mall after their 'lessons' so that they can put their new skills to use. Lois suggests that Chris find a girl who smokes, and in the next episode, he turns out to have found one. Peter and Lois both feel that they may have been selfish by forcing the kids to do this for their own benefit, but they decide that it really doesn't matter because they got what they wanted.

Although Lois thinks they may be horrible people, Peter doesn't. He thinks that horses are terrible people.

Answer: The Park Barrington

After getting a picture from the TiVo, Stewie notices that his 'father' has a pen from the Park Barrington Hotel in his shirt pocket. Brian and Stewie immediately head to the Park Barrington when they get to San Francisco and Stewie takes the elevator to the higher floors. Once here, he spots the man leaving the lobby and jumps out the window (at least, his stunt double does) and into a dumpster. Soon, a car chase begins and Stewie crashes into a fruit stand.

Answer: On a cable car

After finally giving up hope that he'll ever locate the man he thinks is his father, he boards a cable car and finds the man reading the newspaper. Stewie is overjoyed, but the man says that he isn't Stewie's father. Instead, he's actually Stewie from the future.
