Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What famous band from the '90s provides the theme song for "Roseanne"?

Answer: "Blues Traveler"

In seasons one through eight of "Roseanne", the Conners instrumental theme song changes mildly in sound. In the ninth and final season Blues Traveler's lead singer John Popper adds his signature harmonica and original lyrics to the theme. John Popper also appears on the "Roseanne" season eight episode "Of Mice and Men". Popper plays Stingray Wilson, Dan's friend and former band mate.
2. Which words are missing from this verse of the "Roseanne" theme "If what doesn't kill us is making us _______, we're gonna last _______"?

Answer: Stronger, Longer

This comes from the well-known and often quoted phrase "That which does not kill us, makes us stronger." The phrase is coined by philosopher, Frederich Nietzsche.
3. What country does the "Roseanne" theme mention?

Answer: China

"If what doesn't kill us is making us stronger, we're gonna last longer, than the greatest wall in China". Building on the Great Wall of China began in 7th Century BC, with repairs being made in the 16th Century. The Wall is more than 2000 years old and is considered a great wonder.
4. What famous rabbit does the "Roseanne" theme make reference too?

Answer: Energizer Bunny

"We're gonna last longer than the greatest wall in China, or that rabbit with the drum". The Energizer Bunny is the mascot for Energizer Batteries, he is always seen beating a drum while in constant motion. The pink powerhouse has been "going and going and going" in Energizer commercials since 1988, the same year "Roseanne" premiered.
5. Which words are missing from this verse in the "Roseanne" theme "If there's one thing that I've _________ while waiting for my _____"?

Answer: Learned, Turn

At the show's end, Roseanne shares this, her conclusion:
"I learned that dreams don't work without action. I learned that no one can stop me, but me. I learned that love is stronger than hate. And most important, I learned that God does exist, he and/or she is right inside you, underneath the pain, the sorrow, and the shame."
6. What is the first weather forecast the "Roseanne" theme song mentions?

Answer: Rain

"In each life, some rain fails". The Conners are from the fictional town of Lanford, Illinois. The percentage of yearly thunderstorm activity for the state of Illinois is more than that of the other United States, at an average of fifty thunderstorms a year. Although the lyric is not a literal comparison, the facts are interesting when you consider the hardships the Conners face.
7. What is the second weather forecast the "Roseanne" theme song mentions?

Answer: Sun

"In each life some rain falls, but you also get some sun." Everything from scripture to science agrees. King Solomon says in Ecclesiates: "The sun rises and sets, and hurries back to where it rises." NASA states that light takes 8.3 minutes to travel from Sun to Earth. And as Ernest Hemingway puts it in his novel "The Sun Also Rises".
8. In the "Roseanne" theme song, which word follows this verse "And we'll make out better than ______"?

Answer: "Okay"

The final season of "Roseanne" fits nicely with the Conners theme song, as both end in a similar way.
Theme: "And we'll make out better than okay, hear what I say, any day."
"Roseanne": I made a commitment to finish my story even if I had to write in the basement in the middle of the night while everyone else was asleep...I think I'll be a lot better now that this book is done."
9. Who sings a slower version of the theme song for the "Roseanne" finale?

Answer: Phoebe Snow

When the show ends, Roseanne shares her conclusion and then it is silent, except for the sound of Phoebe Snow's a cappella version of the theme song.
10. What is the last word in the lyrics to the "Roseanne" theme song?

Answer: Day

"If what doesn't kill us is making us stronger, were gonna last longer, than the greatest wall in China, or that rabbit with the drum.
If there's one thing that I've learned, while waiting for my turn, is that in each life some rain falls, but you also get some sun.
And we'll make out better than okay, hear what I say, any day."
