Up against popular Dan (the voice of reason on the night of the near riot), Vanessa left with a whopping 86% of the vote. She also received a rather cool reception from the crowd waiting outside.

2. On the 30th June 2004, "Big Brother" gave the housemates another Saturday live challenge, divided into three parts. The first part consisted of eight sandwich boards, each with a letter on them. The task called for Victor to move the board wearing housemates into a position that would spell out a word. What was the word that Victor failed to get from this human conundrum?

Answer: Bankrupt

Despite much staring at the letters and moving a housemate or two around, Victor was unable to work out that the letters spelt out the word bankrupt, and the group lost the �3,000 they had gambled on winning that challenge. They did, however, complete both the human skittles task and the human buzzer task.

3. On day 31, a new housemate was added to the "Big Brother" house. What was the occupation of 33 year old Becki Seddiki?

Answer: Florist

The surprise new entrant came into the house while the housemates were gathered on the sofa. She explored the bedroom until "Big Brother" called her to the diary room, when she calmly walked past the open-mouthed other residents.

4. On nomination day on June 29th 2004, new housemate Becki was informed by "Big Brother" that she had to choose a housemate for eviction by kissing them on both cheeks. This housemate would then be put to the public vote with the other nominees that week. Which housemate received that Judas kiss?

Answer: Michelle

The housemates, of course, were unaware of the rather mean task that "Big Brother" had given to Becki. A tearful Michelle was stunned when the all-seeing one announced that herself, Marco and Nadia would all face the public vote. She need not have worried though, as it was Marco who was voted by the public for eviction later that week.

A few days later "The Sun" newspaper chartered a plane which flew over the "Big Brother" house pulling a banner which read "Only Becki nominated Michelle", which was seen by Stuart who informed the others.

The housemates were somewhat baffled by this as they thought Becki was unable to vote in her first week. Becki did not last long in the house, and was evicted after the viewers chose Ahmed over her on 9th July 2004.

She had spent just 12 days in the house.

5. Poor old Ahmed. The Somalian found himself summoned to the diary room after being heard talking about nominations with Jason and Victor. After being reminded by "Big Brother" that this sort of talk was against the rules, Ahmed complained that he felt under pressure by both "Big Brother" and the rule breaking team of Jason and Victor. What did Ahmed shout out at "Big Brother" as he stomped out of the diary room?

Answer: "I am not a sandwich!"

Ahmed later earned himself a formal warning, after begging all the housemates to nominate him for eviction. He was heard screaming and yelling "I want to go home, but I don't want to quit!" When things seemed to get too much for him, Ahmed would grab a few plates, go outside and smash them! The other housemates described this behaviour as "Ahmania".

6. On 5th July 2004, all the housemates took part in a "Historical re-enactment" day, as part of their school task week. Which housemate played the part of Geri Helliwell in the "When Geri left the Spice Girls" part of the task?

Answer: Jason

While Jason dressed up as Geri, Becki played the rest of the Spice Girls. Ahmed had to dress up as Elvis for his "The day Elvis died" task, and inflicted a terrible version of "Love me Tender" on his fellow housemates. (And, of course, on us long suffering viewers.)

7. Failing in their school task, the dejected housemates were informed by "Big Brother" that they would not be able to compile a shopping list that week, and would be given just basic rations. The housemates decided to stage a silent protest, by refusing to speak on 8th July all day. "Big Brother" was not happy, and retaliated in various ways. Was it just me or was "Big Brother" a tad childish in this season? Not content with driving the housemates mad by playing the sounds of a baby crying, car horns and road works, "Big Brother" also got revenge by upsetting Stuart. Calling all the housemates to gather on the sofas and turn on the plasma screen, "Big Brother" displayed Stuart's much loved cowboy hat.

A gloved hand was seen to hold a lighted cloth to the hat and set fire to it, much to the amazement of the housemates. "Big Brother" also gave Victor the silent treatment when he tried to have a chat in the Diary Room.

8. The repeated alarm sounds playing into the house finally got to Ahmed, and he angrily set about detroying Maureen, the model the housemates had made in a previous task. What implement did Ahmed use to smash Maureen up?

Answer: A spade

Ahmed had always hated hearing the noisy alarms "Big Brother" would play to wake the housemates up each morning, and the constant noise on this day drove him to grab a spade from the garden and attack the plaster cast model with some force. The other housemates looked on with some trepidation at this show of anger.

9. After deciding to give up their protest of a day's silence, some of the housemates trooped into the diary room waving a white flag. When "Big Brother" did not respond to their request for a truce, what object did the housemates take outside?

Answer: A camera on a pedestal

Michelle decided to take revenge for the destruction of Stuart's cowboy hat by grabbing the diary room camera. Along with its pedestal, Michelle carried the camera into the garden and placed some straw around it. Thankfully the straw did not catch alight, and after "Big Brother" demanded it be instantly returned or else all the housemates would be punished, the camera was placed back in the diary room.

10. "Big Brother" did not take the diary room incident lightly, and five housemates were issued with formal warnings. Which housemate received a "First and final warning" from an annoyed "Big Brother"?

Answer: Michelle

Nadia, Shell, Dan and Stuart all received warnings for their part in the removal of the diary room camera, whilst Michelle was given a "First and final" warning from "Big Brother". This meant that any future misdemeanours would result in her instant eviction from the house. Series 5 of "Big Brother" certainly proved to have the most rebellious housemates, and it kept the viewers wondering just what could possibly happen next.
