Answer: Poorly dress up as The Flying Dutchman

For Halloween, SpongeBob dresses up as The Flying Dutchman. The costume is extremely poor, as it is just SpongeBob tossing a mattress sheet over himself and making poor attempts at scaring various citizens of the city. Doing this enough times attracts the attention of the real Flying Dutchman, who appears at the Krusty Krab, gently tells SpongeBob that his costume is a joke, then issues this threat should SpongeBob continue poorly impersonating him.

Answer: His sock

After trying to rip it away from SpongeBob, the two get in a tug-of-war that nearly rips this apparently magically potent sock. Rather than continue to risk destroying it, The Flying Dutchman offers the trio three wishes in exchange for peacefully returning his sock.

Answer: Accidentally negotiates for less wishes

This hilarious dialogue goes like this:

The Flying Dutchman: "Tell you what, I'll grant you... three wishes!"

Patrick: "Make it five!"

TFD: "Four!"

P: "Three. Take it or leave it!"

TFD: "Okay... uh, three. You get three wishes!"

Yet another indictment on Patrick's intelligence, or lackthereof.

Answer: Turn himself into an atomic bomb

In "Ghoul Fools," The Flying Dutchman rips out one of his eyes, turns into an atomic bomb, and the ensuing explosion ended up sending everyone caught by it to the Void.

While The Flying Dutchman is mostly omnipotent, he humorously does not know how to tie his shoes. This is revealed in "Your Shoe's Untied." Here, it is shown that The Flying Dutchman, due to his death long, long ago and the fact that he actually has no legs, has forgotten how to tie his shoes. This is mostly due to the fact that he doesn't actually have shoes, given that he no longer has any legs on his lower body.

Answer: Rewarding SpongeBob and Patrick for finding it

Assuming SpongeBob and Patrick to have found the chest, The Flying Dutchman rewards them for their work by giving them one gold coin each. Angered by this, Mr Krabs asks for a reward. He is granted a plastic treasure chest, which The Flying Dutchman jokes as "based off a real one!" before laughing heartily and leaving the scene.

Answer: His ship becomes a hippie van

The spectral ship now becomes a hippie van with a sail, per SpongeBob's wish for The Flying Dutchman to become a vegetarian.

Answer: He is not "the marrying type"

In this episode, SpongeBob and Patrick steal Squidward's lawn mower and accidentally shave off The Flying Dutchman's beard with it. Angered, he forces SpongeBob to act as a replica beard for his date, which works quite well. He later reveals that his date ends up wanting to marry him several months later, but then comments that he is not the "marrying type."

Answer: His dandruff

Sandy and SpongeBob sneak aboard his ship and steal sufficient dandruff to keep the Krusty Krab supplied. Plankton, realizing this is an ingredient, tries to achieve the same, but accidentally wakes The Flying Dutchman while boarding his ship and fails.
