Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In what episode did Mr. Krabs say, "What is today but yesterday's tomorrow"?

Answer: "Imitation Krabs"

Possibly one of his most famous quotes is his "...smelly smell that smells smelly" quote from the first episode he ever appeared in, "Help Wanted".
2. What lawyer originally planned to represent Mr. Krabs in the case in "Krabs vs Plankton"?

Answer: Richard A. Bottomfeeder

Richard A. Bottomfeeder planned to represent Mr. Krabs in his defense against Plankton. The best laid plans of mice and men gang, however. When he became unable to do so after slipping on his client's wet floor, SpongeBob took over as his SpongeBob LawyerPants persona.
3. What is Mr. Krabs' house shaped like?

Answer: an anchor

The address to his humble abode is 3541 Anchor Way. The windows to his anchor house are identical to the round windows one would see on a ship. His windows are portholes just like one would see on a ship. Mr. Krabs was always known to sleep in a hammock until "The Lost Mattress" aired. In that episode, he slept in a bed and kept his entire bankroll under a lumpy mattress.
4. Which of the following is NOT true about Mr. Krabs?

Answer: In his seafaring days, he was the head chef on the S.S. Gourmet

Krabs swabbed the latrine on the Gourmet. He was the head chef on the S.S. Diarrhea. He opened a drive-through in "Driven To Tears", where Patrick gets his driver's licence and drives his best pal crazy with jealousy.
5. What did Mr. Krab's first dime resemble?

Answer: Caveman currency

Mr. Krabs' first dime looked like a caveman-type coin. He told SpongeBob that he had been in business for a long time. The title of this episode, "Can You Spare a Dime?", is a take-off on Al Jolson's Great Depression era song, "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?" This is a reference to Squidward's unemployed plight in this episode.
6. From "Money Talks", why was it revealed at the very end of the episode that Mr. Krabs owed his soul to SpongeBob?

Answer: He was $5.00 short on payday

This shows how little interest Mr. Krabs seems to have for the fate of his mortal soul. In "Squid's Day Off", Mr. Krabs talked to his money in baby-talk. A dime has also winked at him in the past. In "Money Talks", The Flying Dutchman wanted to collect on Mr. Krabs' soul in exchange for his services in allowing Mr. Krabs to talk to money.

He had to wait in line. A long line. One large, round monster who yelled at the Dutchman, "Get to the back of the line!", mysteriously sounded a terrible lot like Patrick.
7. In what year was Mr. Krabs born?

Answer: 1942

According to the show, Mr. Krabs is 68 in 2010. Interestingly enough, 68 was how old Barnacle Boy was back in "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy V." As all folks who are fans of this character unquestionably know, Mr. Krabs was born on November 30th, 1942.

This first appeared on his driver's license in "Sleepy Time." In an interview for the book "SpongeBob Exposed: The Insider's Guide to SpongeBob SquarePants", Stephen Hillenburg confirmed this to be his birth date.
8. Mr. Krabs has been the antagonist in several episodes. Which of the following episodes is NOT an example of this?

Answer: "Selling Out"

In "Jellyfish Hunter", the greedy capitalist Krabs has SpongeBob gather jellyfish to add their jelly to Krabby Patties to make Jelly Patties. Mr. Krabs abuses and tortures the jellyfish for their jelly until he is stopped by SpongeBob. After they are set free, he is stung by four million jellyfish at once.

When SpongeBob first showed Mr. Krabs a Jelly Patty, Mr. Krabs accused him of mutiny for "tampering with the formula." It is unknown why Mr. Krabs thought adding another condiment tampered with the formula at first.

It always seemed odd to me. In "Krabby Land", Mr. Krabs left all those kids in tears when he revealed all he ever cared about was their parents' cash. "Clams" showcased Mr. Krabs at his craziest, forcing Squidward and SpongeBob to stay on the boat until he retrieved his millionth dollar from Old Bluelip.

He eventually used the two as "live bait." Mr. Krabs was the main protagonist of "Selling Out", where which he fought to get his restaurant (which he was tricked into selling) back from the greedy capitalist Trump-like Howard Blandy.
9. Which of the following names has Mr. Krabs never been called?

Answer: Old poop

Eugene Harold Krabs has never been called an "old poop", or at least never seen called one on an episode of "SpongeBob SquarePants". In "Born Again Krabs", The Flying Dutchman tells Mr. Krabs that his display of parsimonious penny-pinching (which he displayed upon realizing he was not dreaming he was bankrupt and giving things away for free to his patrons) earned him an eternal rest in Davy Jones' Locker. SpongeBob saved Mr. Krabs' when he vouched for his generosity and kind-heartedness.

The Dutchman agreed to spare Krabs, but only if SpongeBob allowed him to prove him wrong, which, lamentably for SpongeBob, he did. And as for Mr. Krabs being called cheap, well, if you have ever seen the show, I don't need to tell you whether or not he has ever been called that.
10. Which of the following statements is NOT true?

Answer: In "Grandpappy the Pirate", we saw a snapshot of a much younger Grandpa Redbeard holding little Eugene Krabs.

The snapshot from "Grandpappy the Pirate" is a fabrication. In "Goo Goo Gas", Mr. Krabs was turned both into an infant and elderly man by Plankton's gas. In "Selling Out", whilst Mr. Krabs sang his song, he looked through a photo album. One of the pictures showed him holding a baby Pearl wrapped in a blanket.

In his song, while looking at this photo, he mentioned how there is nothing in the world he has ever seen or heard that matters as much as all the money that he's earned. How touching.
11. In "A Pal For Gary", a sign in the Krusty Krab read: "Absolutely no filthy _______ in me restaurant. -Management." What is the missing word?

Answer: animals

Mr. Krabs mistakenly believed SpongeBob to have a pet turtle in this episode. A sign in the Krusty Krab read, "Absolutely no filthy animals in me restaurant. -Management." When a customer was leaving because his pet gets too lonely and upset when left alone, good ol' Mr. Krabs has a change of heart.

When SpongeBob finally got out of work (his shift was technically over five hours prior) Mr. Krabs told SpongeBob to grab a shovel to help him re-tar the parking lot. He did allow SpongeBob to return to his "pet turtle or whatever", provided he come to work five hours early the next morning to finish the lot.
12. Mr. Krabs does not have a nose after he molts in "Shell of a Man".

Answer: True

When Mr. Krabs molts his shell, he becomes a weak, vulnerable, fleshy version of his former self. His nose is revealed to only be a part of his shell, which is true of real-life crabs. His old navy buddies were Torpedo Belly, Muttonchop, Iron Eye, and Lockjaw Jones.
During the navy reunion, a fish which exactly resembles Reg from "No Weenies Allowed" appears, only he is yellow.
13. Plankton and Krabs' rivalry is known throughout the world. There have been exceptions, three of which episodes are listed below. Which of the following episodes were Mr. Krabs and Plankton neither shown as friends nor allies?

Answer: "Plankton!"

"Plankton!" introduced the title character way back in 1999. Plankton took control of SpongeBob's brain in that one to try and get the formula. "Friend or Foe" showed that Mr. Krabs and Plankton were friends as kids but that friendship went asunder after disputes about the creation of a new patty formula. "Best Frenemies", as you know, showed them team up to try and get the secret Kelp Shake formula, which was harming their businesses.

It would have been better for them had they not gone to the trouble, as it turned out.

In "New Leaf", their friendship may have been superficial for both parties, for in the end Plankton again tries to get the best of Mr. Krabs by getting the formula after he believes he won his trust. Mr. Krabs revealed he was on to his convoluted plan the whole time.
14. When Mr. Krabs faints in "Bossy Boots", he is revived when SpongeBob breaks open a glass with what bill?

Answer: a twenty

This episode starring Mr. Krabs' daughter Pearl was originally known as "Working Pearl". Apparently, the episodes title was changed not long before its original airdate. Dish Network and Comcast's information guides refer to the episode as the aforementioned title to this day. Patchy the Pirate even referred to the episode as "Working Pearl" during the "Best Day Ever" marathon!
15. From "Squeaky Boots", after Mr. Krabs stole the boots from SpongeBob, where did he hide them?

Answer: under the floorboards

When Mr. Krabs' ripped the boots from the floorboards, this parodied "The Tell-Tale Heart" by Edgar Allan Poe. This was the first of two episodes to feature the word "boots".
