Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How far away from the Krusty Krab does Patrick live?

Answer: 400 yards

In "Krusty Towers", after Mr. Krabs turns the Krusty Krab into a hotel, Patrick goes in and attempts to order a Krabby Patty. Squidward then informs him, "This is a hotel now. If you want a Krabby Patty, you'll have to get a room and order room service." Patrick responds, "Okay, one Krabby Patty and one room with cheese. Oh! And can I get cheese on the Krabby Patty, too?" "Patrick, you only live 400 yards away! Why do you want to check into a hotel?" "Sometimes I just need to get away from it all."
2. Which of the following things has Patrick never mistaken for Squidward?

Answer: A creature of an unknown species named Smelly

The creature named Smelly from "The Thing" was indeed really Squidward, but Patrick and SpongeBob did not know this. In "Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost", upon melting Squidward's wax sculpture of himself, SpongeBob and Patrick believed that they had killed Squidward.

In "Squidville", Patrick asks a fire hydrant if it was Squidward (...?). In "Hocus Pocus" SpongeBob believes that he has turned Squidward into an ice cream cone with his Mr. Magic's Magical Magic set and then gets Patrick to believe it.

The episode is not unlike the episode of "Leave it To Beaver" where Beaver believes he has turned little Benjamin into a rock; I am almost certain it inspired the episode. In "A Flea in Her Dome", Patrick even mistook Sandy for Squidward! "I miss Sandy so much! Her tentacles! The way she plays clarinet! Her massive nose!" He then went on to mistake Sandy for his mom.

He's not the brightest star under the... well, anywhere. In the episode, SpongeBob did not know what a flea was. However, in the episode "Squirrel Jokes", which aired years prior, SpongeBob belittled Sandy during his stand-up by noting the fact that "...fleas need a home too."
3. What is the missing word from the following dialogue from "Big Pink Loser"? Man on the phone: "Is this the Krusty Krab?" Patrick: "No, this is _______."

Answer: Patrick

When SpongeBob overheard what happened, he told Patrick, "Uh, Patrick, that's the name of the restaurant.", much to Patrick's self-disgust. Patrick failed miserably at everything he attempted to do at his job at the Krusty Krab, until SpongeBob showed him how to open a pickle jar.
4. Which of the following people is not a relative of Patrick?

Answer: Marty

Janet and Marty were Patrick's fake parents from "I'm With Stupid". Herb and Margie are Patrick's real parents. Many relatives were revealed from the family tree in "Rule of Dumb", which were Patrick's Uncle Sluggo, his Grandma, Maw Twitter, his great grandparents Shiek and Princess Tulsa ("Shrek" reference?), his cousin Ed, his grandpa Billy Bob, his great uncles Prince Callows, Carl, and Prince Dingus, and his great-great grandparents King Amoeba and Queen Mildew. And finally, the family tree also shockingly revealed Patrick and Gary to be cousins.
5. In what episode did Patrick work for the Krusty Krab the least amount of time?

Answer: "Arrgh!"

At the start of "Arrgh!", Patrick, SpongeBob, and Mr. Krabs are playing "The Flying Dutchman's Treasure Hunt". During the game, Patrick rolls a 5 and gets a card that says, "One of your shipmates has been a bad pirate! Send him to the brig!" Patrick momentarily ponders his decision, and subsequently says, "It's off to jail for you, Mr. Krabs." Mr. Krabs responds, "Patrick, you're fired!" Patrick answers, "But I don't even work here." So Mr. Krabs then asks, "Would ya like a job, startin' now?" and places the Krusty Krab hat atop his head. Patrick answers, "Boy! Would I?!" Mr. Krabs then sternly exclaims, "Yer fired!" and yanks the hat right off.
6. In "Mid-Life Crustacean", SpongeBob yelled, "Are ya ready to go crazy?!", and Patrick answered, "I'm already _______ ______!". What are the missing words?

Answer: hearing voices

If someone were really going through such a thing, I don't imagine Patrick's answer would be very funny. But to everyone else, it's hilarious! Patrick has a history of exhibiting mental illness on the show. He himself pokes fun at this fact on seldom occasions, such as in "Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost", when he tells SpongeBob he knows a lot about head injuries, and in "Squidtastic Voyage", where he sees the button that says "Shrink" and he says, "Well, I do have issues."
7. In "That's No Lady", Patrick believed he was threatened by a fish trying to sell him a vacation to Sunny Seashores Resort. Thinking himself to be in immediate danger, he goes incognito. He develops a new alias named Patrice, who gets a job at the Krusty Krab. Squidward and Mr. Krabs are subsequently smitten by "her".

Answer: False

Patrick's drag queen disguise was called "Patricia". Patrick took the fish who told him to "Get outta town!" the wrong way and chaos ensues. Mr. Krabs and Squidward both go nuts for "Patricia" and attempt to date "her" unsuccessfully multiple times throughout the episode.

When Patrick gets nude and reveals to the Krusty Krab his true identity, the look on Mr. Krabs and Squidward's faces is priceless. Squidward says, "Ehhm... I think I need to take a shower." Mr. Krabs next asks, "So... Lemme get this straight, you're not a woman?". Patrick answers "No." "Well then, yer fired. Uh, if anybody needs me, I'll be in my office for... I dunno... the next twenty years or so." The episode was first seen on the "Whale of a Birthday" DVD in late 2006, nearly one month prior to its television premiere.
8. What finally causes Patrick to snap in "Valentine's Day"?

Answer: When a fish asks Patrick the time

Tom Kenny has described "Valentine's Day" as one of his favorite episodes. Most of the time, Patrick is goofy/crazy in a harmless sort of way. In this episode, however, he was goofy/crazy in a dangerous sort of way (for the first time in the history of the show). Patrick acts like a spoiled, retarded child when he doesn't get his way in this episode. God only knows what he intended on doing to the innocent carnival-goers he had cornered at the end of the boardwalk. Thankfully, Sandy makes it with his chocolate heart-shaped hot air balloon just in time.

When Patrick sinks his teeth into the balloon, it explodes and everyone within an unknown radius is covered in chocolate. Incidentally, Patrick's line, "Aw, SpongeBob! Ya didn't have to get me anything!" is arguably the greatest line ever to close an episode of "SpongeBob SquarePants".
9. In "No Nose Knows", after Patrick got a nose, he smelled good smells before smelling bad smells.

Answer: True

Indeed he did. In "No Nose Knows", Patrick becomes despondent upon discovering the fact that he is noseless. SpongeBob tries to cheer his best pal up, reminding him that lots of fish don't have noses. Patrick is still jealous that most of his friends have one, though.

After Patrick gets a nose through surgery, he is introduced to marvelous smells, such as pastries from Bikini Bottom's Bakery and perfume. It all goes downhill from there. Bad smells including a dumpster, his messy house, and imported cheese drive him mad and into a clean freak and drives everyone nuts.

As a result, his friends decide to make a giant, stinky garbage ball which shrivels his nose. It then withers off. The nose is then buried, and the tombstone reads, "Here lies the nose of Patrick Star R.I.P." Patrick then over hears a snide comment of Squidward, for he has obtained gigantic ears.

The episode's title card seems to be a picture of the giant trash ball with the title of the episode over it.
10. What marketing slogan did Patrick come up with for Plankton in "Chum Bucket Supreme"?

Answer: CHUM iS FUM

In "Chum Bucket Supreme", Karen suggests to Plankton that he advertise the Chum Bucket. Plankton hangs a sign on his restaurant reading "CHUM iS METABOLIC FUEL". Patrick happens by and reads the sign. Smoke starts emanating from his brain attempting to understand the "big words".

He then rearranges the letters so the sign now reads: "CHUM iS FUM!" The simple, nonsensical slogan attracts customers by the boatloads.
11. If you hear Patrick say, "Pfft... That's silly. Don't you think it's more likely that the entire world grew?", what episode have you just been watching?

Answer: "Squidtastic Voyage"

If you want to see an episode where you can witness some of Patrick's most idiotic/insane lines and craziest actions ever, look no further than "Squidtastic Voyage". There is not a single bad thing that happens in this episode that Patrick is not responsible for.

This includes Squidward getting his clarinet reed stuck in his throat, the submarine shrinking, chopping the control panel (and later, the reserve tanks) with an axe, and worst of all, hitting the "grow" button. This episode is one of the rare episodes where Squidward dialogues with Sandy.

This episode and "SquidBob TentaclePants" are the only episodes where they talk for very long at all.
12. No Patrick Star quiz would be complete without a question from "Rock-a-Bye Bivalve." The episode showed the world what Patrick would be like as a father. What was his infamous line which closed the episode?

Answer: Lets have another

"Rock-a-Bye Bivalve" is the "SBSP" classic where Patrick and SpongeBob adopt an abandoned baby scallop. Whatever controversy surrounded this episode is unfounded; Patrick and SpongeBob (especially Patrick) are man-children! You wouldn't look at something a couple of third graders would do and presuppose there was something wrong with them like one would if they saw two adults doing the same thing. I remember when I was in grade school, a friend and I played a game called the "Butt Boppers." Yeah, we're the Butt Boppers. We fight crime. And that's all there was to it.

The teachers didn't think there was anything diabolical there. The same goes for the la dolce vita, never-grow-up starfish and sponge. And we unequivocally know the writers intended no such inference.
13. Why did Patrick throw his boat mobile away at the end of "Driven to Tears"?

Answer: The needle was on E and he thought it meant "end"

After SpongeBob fails his boating test for the 58th time (which is the ..."luckiest number ever" according to Patrick), Patrick decides to take the test himself. To SpongeBob's amazement, he not only passes, but as the one millionth person to get his license, he wins the new Bass Blaster 3000 boat.

After a while of driving SpongeBob around, SpongeBob goes from yellow to insanely green with envy. Chaos ensues, with Patrick eventually literally and figuratively rubbing his license in his face. Consequently, SpongeBob rants that Patrick does not deserve his license and his rips it to shreds.

This littering draws the attention of the cops, and a boat chase follows, resulting in a crash a la "Doing Time." SpongeBob goes to prison for three months, but it all works out in the end. Patrick puts the "PALS 4 EVER" license plate SpongeBob made in the can above his buttocks and piggybacks him around town.
14. Which of the following Patrick quotes is not matched accurately?

Answer: "Ya know ya want to!"- "New Student Starfish"

The quote, "Ya know ya want to!", is from "Hooky". At the end of this episode, a bus drops Patrick, who finds himself trapped in a can of tuna, off at his house. Patrick did not heed Mr. Krabs' stern warning about the hooks and he paid a hefty price.
15. Patrick once entered a rock in a race.

Answer: True

He most certainly did, during the events of "The Great Snail Race", and won! The rock's name was Rocky, and he was racer #8. Bill Fagerbakke once described in an interview for "TV Guide" one of his favorite job perks. "Fans from age 7 to their mid-20s love meeting me and laugh at pretty much anything I say in Patrick's voice. Kids under 7 years old usually just glower at me and want the big [he's 6-foot-6] weirdo to shut up and stop talking like Patrick from "SpongeBob."
