Whip's full real name is William Stafford Hondo and he is the son of the notorious killer Roy Hondo. His father abandoned him as a child and his Uncle Morgan took care of him, so he adopted Morgan as his last name.

Whip is a very good poker player and has only lost one game in his entire career.

Hondo killed his Uncle Morgan (which would be Hondo's brother) and Whip is dead set on making him pay for it. Good thing Brisco was there to talk him down.
