Jeff had been photocopying earlier in his career when the shelves above the machine toppled down trapping him under the lid. He is most conscious of the fact that his bottom was sticking out and facing the attractive young lady, Wilma, with whom he later shares a drink.

When other colleagues, stifling giggles, attempt to free him, he holds on to the lid hoping that he can wait until everyone has left the office for the evening and then return the next day free of embarrassment since no one has actually seen his face.

Unfortunately, he fails to realise that he has photocopied his face several times and his workmates are only too happy to advertise this fact!

Jeff and Wilma Lettings exchange a brief flirtation in the stationery cupboard which leads to a date while Julia is away at a conference in Leeds. Jeff tries to ascertain Wilma's motives and even gets his friends involved via mobile telephone to offer advice. Unfortunately for poor Jeff, he ends up telling her that his girlfriend 'Mary' is dead.

This has hilarious consequences when Wilma manages to talk her way into Jeff's apartment at the end of the evening only to find feet sticking out of the end of Jeff's bed: apparently Julia returned home earlier than expected! Wilma runs out of Jeff's apartment fearing that Jeff has kept his dead girlfriend in the flat!

Patrick dreams that Sally has called him to kill a spider. When he arrives, he's rather cross at being called out in the middle of the night for something so trivial. It's only when he realises that Sally didn't call him and that she's actually in bed with her date that he is able to accept that he has been dreaming of Sally.

This episode is mostly in flashback format but it is told through both characters' eyes. Firstly we see Sally's account of meeting Patrick. She believes that she gave a sophisticated impression and was in fact more interested in his friend. It's only later when we see Patrick's version of events that we realise that Sally was extremely drunk at Susan's office party and doesn't even remember kissing Patrick. We also find out that although Patrick went on to date Susan briefly, it wasn't Susan's phone number he initially wanted but that Sally gave it to him by mistake. And as for the friend, Sally was seeing double!

Answer: They were at university together.

Susan and James were at college together and it emerges that they were briefly an item! Jane is furious since she previously believed James to be a virgin and loudly declares, 'I have twelve breasts!' Susan is miffed when James agrees with Steve about Susan's freckles.

Answer: She removes the lock.

Steve refers to the bathroom as his 'Fortress of Solitude' during a tirade at a dinner party. Although he feels extremely strongly about the removal of the lock, he doesn't have the courage to tell Susan about it immediately. Jeff has his own solution to the problem: a door-wedge.

Sally asks Susan and Jane to take pregnancy tests with her because she wants to see what a positive result looks like since she doesn't trust the test. In her confusion when she sees the blue line, she forgets whom the test actually belongs to which means that they all have to re-take it. Sally and Jane both reveal while they could possibly be pregnant and Susan reveals why she knows it is not her. Later in the bar, Patrick confesses his feelings for Sally but she is still convinced she is pregnant despite not having seen the result.

It is at this point that Jane rushes in and announces she's not pregnant and Susan announces that she is. Steve hears the news while dressed in a Spiderman suit!

We flash back some time and discover Steve is unaware that he and Susan have been trying for a baby for six months long and see his shock when Susan tells the doctor this. They both undergo tests and Susan is told that she has fertility problems. It is for this reason that Susan was convinced that she was not pregnant.
