Crichtonisms, Season 3 Trivia Quiz

Answer: Scooby Doo

Scooby-Doo and the gang run around in the Mystery Wagon solving -- you guessed it -- mysteries. Rygel: "I don't give a frell about a trapped girl." Crichton: "Yes, and that's what makes you a great humanitarian, Buckwheat. But we are not leaving. It's 'Scooby-Doo' time." Later on when Stark solves the mystery, Crichton comes back with: "Give him the Scooby-Doo Snack, then."

Answer: "Star Wars"

With two Crichtons spouting off nonsense, the rest of the crew must be getting a little more annoyed than usual. Here are the references:

"Alien Nation" was a movie and a television show (only ran one season) I remember watching in the 80s. Another bit of trivia is that the tv show was created by Farscape's own Rockne S. O'Bannon (who also did "Seaquest DSV", another forgotten favorite). Crichton1: "I know it's not as bad as last time, it's not the cromagnon-copy or the Alien Nation reject, but you can tell I'm the original, right?"

One of the Crichtons actually introduces himself as the Wizard of Oz in this episode. Crichton2: "John Crichton, Wizard of Oz."

Crichton responds to questioning with the famous Jack Nicholson line from "A Few Good Men". Renick: "I want the truth!" Crichton1: "You can't handle the tru..."

Answer: Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers

After finally having his speaking abilities restored, Crichton starts off into 'Peter Piper' but only makes it through the first couple of words. Here is the rest of the tongue twister, for the brave tongue waggers:

Answer: Pluto

Poor Crichton. He's so excited that Aeryn is back on Moya and yet she won't give him the time of day because she's still mourning over the dead Crichton clone. Crichton: "Mag stat, turbo sealer, fluffy pink slippers, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Huey, Louie, and Dewey."

Answer: Ren and Stimpy

Ren and Stimpy were characters from the Nickelodeon "Ren and Stimpy Show", which was ran during the early 1990s. Crichton: "We are being scammed. Ren and Stimpy here are teaming up to rip us off."

Answer: Star Trek

We all knew that Crichton had to be a trekkie at heart (and he apparently sees himself as a Captain Kirk-type character during his coma-induced hallucinations in "Revenging Angel"). In this episode, Neeyala goes all technobabble on Crichton and Aeryn. Aeryn: "Do you understand any of those words?" Crichton: "Yeah, I watched all kinds of Star Trek."

Answer: "Never Say Never Again"

"Never Say Never Again" was the last James Bond movie starring Sean Connery, and was a remake of an earlier Bond film also starring Sean Connery, "Thunderball". It was many years and several Bond actors between the release of "Never Say Never Again" in 1983 and Connery's second to last Bond film "Diamonds are Forever" in 1971. Crais: "You know I'll never again be a Peacekeeper." Crichton: "Never say never again, 007."

Answer: Commandant Cleavage

Well, we can obviously see where Crichton's mind is on this one, but who can blame him with Grayza walking around in that getup. Crichton: "If I don't kick this project in the buttocks before Commandant Cleavage gets back, she's going to execute me anyway, right?

Answer: MIR Space Station

D'Argo is chasing Crichton through space cartoon-style. Crichton tries to warn D'Argo about his impending doom, but D'Argo doesn't buy it. A cartoon version of MIR slams into D'Argo. Crichton comments, "I love science fiction." Later on, D'Argo also gets hit by the Starship Enterprise after popping out of a wormhole.

Answer: In the back of a Four-By

Here's the full quote (lso note that nerd-boy Crichton named his dog after the Hubble space telescope). Crichton: "My dad's name was Jack. My dog's name was Hubble. I lost my virginity to Karen Shaw in the back of a Four-By." D'Argo: "How old were you?" Crichton: "Sixteen." D'Argo: "I was seven."

Answer: Juliet: "Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo."

Aeryn is actually dressed as Cleopatra, but says the opening of the balcony scene from "Romeo and Juliet", which Crichton is quick to point out: "Honey, that's the wrong Shakespeare." Here's the whole list of characters:

D'Argo makes his way towards Crichton in the chair, stepping on a rake, a metal pail, a banana peel, and a bear trap until he reaches the chair. When he turns the chair around, Crichton has a huge cigar in his hands and says a la Bugs Bunny, "Eh, what's up D'Argo?"

Answer: Laura Ashley

Well, Crichton has definitely spent some of his time doing other things than watching television shows. Crichton: "If Grynes lives, he's a hero who averts a war. Dead, he's just another guy in the Laura Ashley Spring Collection."

Answer: budong

While the original "Star Wars" quote is Obi-Wan Kenobi saying "That's no moon. That's a space station", in the episode, Crichton actually says, "That's no moon. That's a budong."

Answer: ozme

If you haven't seen "Revenging Angel", I suggest you find a copy because it's one of my favorite episodes. The crichtonisms in this episode are almost limitless and I could only add a few in here.

D'Argo uses OZME brand rockets, tempts Crichton with free beer and pizza and paints wormholes onto rockwalls.

Many other pop culture references include David Letterman's Top Ten Lists, William Shatner doing Priceline.com commercials, Crichton accepting an imaginary Oscar, etc.
