Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was the shylock killed after disobeying orders to kick up money to Johnny Sack?

Answer: Lorraine

Lorraine Calluzzo, played by Patti D'Arbanville, was a shylock in the 2004, season 5 episode "All Happy Families". Lorraine was shot dead by William "Billy" Leotardo (Chris Caldovino) of the Leotardo Crew. She was a woman with her own way of doing things.

She refused to kick money to John "Johnny Sack" Sacramoni (Vincent Curatola). Lorraine paid her tributes to Carmine "Little Carmine" Lupertazzi, Jr. (Ray Abruzzo) and got the ultimate pay up.
2. In episode 49, "The Strong Silent Type", Christopher is unaware that he has killed what female?

Answer: Cosette

This show aired November 17, 2002 and featured a strung out Christopher Moltisanti played by Michael Imperioli. He is so out of it that he plops down in the sofa of his apartment, and there is this whimper sound. We find out when his girlfriend comes home looking for her white Maltese, Cosette, that she has been squished by a strung out on heroin Christopher.
3. Valentina La Paz was beaten to death by Ralph Cifaretto.

Answer: False

Ralph Cifaretto (Joe Pantoliano) needed to see Dr. Melfi more than his boss Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini). One of Ralph's problem was that he just didn't relate to women well, especially sexually. Tracee, one of the dancers at the "Bada Bing" mobster hangout, had the misfortune of falling in love with Ralph. Being in her early twenties, she was far too young to fully comprehend a complex man like Ralph. To make matters worse, Tracee (Ariel Kiley) was pregnant with Ralph's child.

After a few days separation from Ralph (she had previously borrowed money from Silvio Dante (Steven Van Zandt) the Bing's owner for, ahem, 'personal use' and Sil wanted her to work and pay it off instead of catering to Ralph at his place), when she sees him again at the club, Ralph makes a snide remake about her which really angers her. Tracee insults Ralph who is seated with other mobsters at the club. Tracee and Ralph go outside and quietly make up; but then Ralph again insults her, and she not only slaps Ralph, she spits on him. Ralph's violent side takes over and he beats Tracee to death. Yes, she was still pregnant.
4. Meeting her demise in season 3, which of the female choices below once threatened to stick a cooking fork into Tony Soprano's eye?

Answer: Livia

Yep! It was his lovingly dysfunctional mother, Olivia "Livia" Soprano (Nancy Marchand). When Tony was a young boy, he got on Livia's nerves by always asking why Janice got to go places with his dad and he couldn't. Livia snapped at him that she'd like to stick the fork she was holding in his eye.

The woman really hated being a mother. The character "Livia Soprano" died in the season 3 episode titled, "Proshai, Livushka", of a massive stroke. However, the actress Nancy marchand passed away before the episode aired.

She was due to testify against her Tony in court. I told you she hated being a mom; but she really hated Tony. The show used computer imaging to produce scenes between Livia and her son, Anthony "Tony" Soprano (James Gandolfini).
5. Fill in the blank with the name of Paulie's real mother. _______ died of natural causes, though she suffered from Alzheimer's Disease.

Answer: Dottie

Okay let's straighten out Paulie's family tree. For all of his life, Peter Paul "Paulie Walnuts" Gualtieri (Tony Sirico) has known Marianucci "Nucci" Gualtieri (Frances Ensemplare) as his mom. He believed Gennaro Gualtieri to be his father, and Dottie (Judith Malina) the nun, to be his Aunt. The screw turns and while visiting his dying Aunt Dottie in the convent, she tells him her long kept secret of his paternity. She is Paulie's mother, and his father was a World War II soldier named Russ. His "Nucci" is really his aunt. Upon her death Paulie lost all love and respect for his real mom, even opting to not attend her funeral.

Author's Note: Paulie got the name "Paulie Walnuts" because he once hijacked a truck he believed to be hauling televisions, but it was actually filled with, you got it, walnuts.

Reference: "The Fleshy Part of The Thigh" episode.
6. Who was killed because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Answer: Heather

In the episode "Marco Polo", Heather, played by Erin Stutland, just happened to be in the car with Joe Peeps (Joe Maruzzo) when Tony Blundetto (Steve Buscemi) carried out a revenge hit. She saw Tony B's face so she had to go.
7. Minn died fighting to keep from being robbed of one thousand dollars.

Answer: False

In the episode "Eloise", Paulie overhears that his mother's friend, Minn Matrone (Fran Anthony) keeps $10,000 at home under the mattress. Paulie later breaks into her home and finds her cash. However, Minn interrupts the theft. When Paulie couldn't talk his way out, a scuffle occurs, and Paulie ends up smothering Minn with a pillow.
8. Who was leaving a luncheon meant to instill Italian pride in women when she met her demise?

Answer: Karen

In the third episode of season 4, which aired September, 29 2002, titled "Christopher", Karen Baccalieri (Christine Pedi) is killed in an automobile accident. Bobby "Bacala" Baccalieri (Steven R. Schirippa), her husband, is telephoned by their son with a message from Karen to pick up a few things from the grocers. Stuck in traffic, Bobby scoffs and asks what's his mother doing that she can't get the items herself. Later Bobby learns that he was stuck in traffic because of the accident that caused Karen's death.

Author's Note: Bobby was believed to be the only one of the Soprano Crew to not have a comàre. However, once Karen died, he was the hottie on the mobster block.
9. What was the name of the dealership that employed Gloria Trillo until she committed suicide?

Answer: Globe Motors

Annabella Sciorra appeared in seven episodes of "The Sopranos" as Gloria Trillo. Gloria was a manic depressive being treated by the same psychiatrist treating Tony Soprano, Dr. Jennifer Melfi (Lorraine Bracco). Gloria and Tony had a chance encounter at Dr. Melfi's office.

After becoming another in a long line of Anthony Soprano comàres, she hangs herself when her attempt to get Tony to kill her fails.
10. Hesh was Jewish, his comàre who was German, died of a stroke.

Answer: False

Lanette Ware played Renata, the African-American girlfriend of Herman "Hesh" Rabkin (Jerry Adler). She died in the 2007 episode titled "Chasing It" of an apparent stroke. One minute she and Hesh were conversing, then Hesh goes into the bathroom, he returns to find Renata dead.
