Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who got married for the second time on the anniversary of his first wedding?

Answer: Barry Evans

Barry married Natalie in a double wedding ceremony on 31st December 1999, and then married Janine on 31st December 2003. In what I consider to be one of the saddest death scenes in soap history, Barry died on New Year's Day 2004.
2. Which matriarch punched Beppe when he admitted to having slept with the bride the night before the wedding?

Answer: Mo Harris

This was on the day of Lynne's wedding to Garry Hobbs. Beppe had interrupted the ceremony saying that Lynne should marry him instead. Crying, Lynne dashed off to the Ladies, where the two men followed on. When Big Mo and Kat came in, Big Mo demanded of Beppe whether he had slept with her granddaughter. He admitted it, and she smacked him in the face.
3. Who provided the wedding ring for Carol Branning when she got married to Alan Jackson in 1996?

Answer: Blossom Jackson

April was due to be married that day, but was left standing. Unknown to Carol, Alan had arranged that the wedding would be a double celebration, and proposed to her at the rear of the church. Although April was disappointed in her groom, she was happily enthusiastic about her sister's wedding, even though their father, Jim, and brother, Derek, were not happy about Carol marrying a black man.
4. Mark Fowler married three times in all; his first wedding was to Gill Robinson in 1992. His mother was in New Zealand at the time, and his sister was one of the witnesses. But where was his father?

Answer: he was at home with Martin

Because Gill was dying from AIDS (she had been the means of Mark becoming HIV+ in the first place) the wedding was kept quiet. Arthur had taken a long time to come to terms with his son's illness so he was not told about the wedding - he heard about it from Kathy. People were told that Gill was dying from 'a form of cancer'.
5. Who was Phil's best man when he married Kate?

Answer: Billy Mitchell

Kate's father caused all the problems with this particular wedding, with both Phil and Kate trying to persuade him that the couple loved each other and that Phil was a changed man. Geoff Morton was concerned that Kate had abandoned the police force and was getting married to a thug.
6. When Ricky Butcher and Sam Mitchell eloped to Gretna Green they found that they had to reside in the area for three weeks before they could get married. Both families chased them across the border, and one of them gave Sam some money and advised her to 'think seriously about what you're doing'. Three weeks later this person stood as witness at the ceremony. Who was it?

Answer: Pat Butcher

Both Frank and Pat were witnesses at the wedding. When Frank drove up the second time he did not know that Pat had packed their wedding finery for the ceremony, but when he heard what Pat had done for Sam and the advice she gave, he agreed to accept the marriage. Grant and Phil did not get to the right Registry Office in time.
7. What colour did Cindy wear for her wedding to Ian Beale?

Answer: red

Her dress was not red, but she did wear a coat over the top which covered the dress almost totally. This cloak-type garment was bright red, and she wore a red flower in her hair.
8. How did Billy Mitchell propose to Little Mo Morgan?

Answer: he spelled it out in Alphabetti Spaghetti

After Trevor Morgan died in the house fire at the Slaters', it looked as if Little Mo could finally find happiness. Living with Billy, she was delighted when he proposed with the remains of his tea. They married on Christmas Day 2002.
9. Which groom said: 'To the victor the spoils' when the Vicar invited him to kiss his Bride?

Answer: Jim Branning

As he kissed his bride the church erupted into applause, much to Dot's embarrassment. Later that evening, she admitted to Jim that she could not be a physical wife to him, but that she just wanted a cuddle every so often. Jim admitted that he wanted companionship in his old age and he was lucky to have found her. To the Victor the spoils.
10. Who caught the bouquet at Peggy and Frank's wedding in 1999?

Answer: Barry Evans

Ricky was Frank's Best Man, while Grant and Phil stood up with Peggy. The wedding was nearly called off by both bride and groom, as Peggy was upset that Grant was not going to show, and then Frank thought that Peggy had left him standing.
