This necklace is explained in a few episodes, but the pilot gives viewers a pretty clear depiction of why she has it and what it is. It is brought up again from time to time. As Nell explained to Lana and Lana explained again for Clark, sometimes the world is beautiful, and sometimes it is painful, but most of the time it's both. So much pain came out of this meteor-rock that only good can be left. Clark convinces Lana not to wear it anymore in the episode "Leech", and in "Tempest (1)", Lana gives the necklace to Whitney as he goes off to join the Marines.

Answer: Jason was holding them hostage

Jason had a gun. He needed to find Clark, and was threatening to kill Clark's parents if they didn't tell him where he was. It was all about the elements. At that moment, Jason didn't know where his mother was, or that she was murdered.

Well, considering that Clark's grandfather wished that Martha hadn't married that "Hick farmer", he definitely wasn't a farmer. He actually was a lawyer, and wished that Martha would take over his practice.

Hiram Kent passed his farm onto Jonathan, and has been dead ever since the first episode of "Smallville". He has been mentioned in numerous episodes.

This was the information that got Lionel in jail, and was the reason that Lionel had Lex's memory erased, even though there was a chance that it would kill Lex. Chloe actually helped to get this information out into the open. Morgan Edge was a childhood friend of Lionel, and now is a crime lord. Morgan Edge knew Clark's secret, and almost gave that information to Lionel.

Laura Potter, Lana's mother who died during the meteor shower, gave a graduation speech. This was during the episode "X-Ray", when Lana found her mother's diary from when she was Lana's age, and Lana realized that Nell had been lying to Lana about her mother.

Although Jonathan contradicts Martha in season 4 when he claims that he never went to college, in "Nicodemus" Martha tells Clark that he asked for her notes, and she fell in love with him. In this episode, Martha is remembering when she first met Jonathan because he is inevitably dying. Luckily, Jonathan miraculously comes back to life- but Jonathan actually dies in season 5.

Lionel actually had possession of the key at one point, and gets extremely close to understanding "the mystery that is Clark Kent". Martha does know about the key, as she notices when it is missing (or at least she thinks it's missing), and Jonathan has actually used it to communicate with Jor-El. The only other people who know about it are Clark, Lex, and the Kryptonians.

Whitney's mom also was the person to inform Lana when Whitney's father had a second heart attack.

In the season 2 episode "Heat" Jonathan shoots his gun, and would have inevitably murdered Lex if Clark didn't arrive in the nick of time and stop the bullet with heat vision. (Jonathan was under the influence of a woman's pheromones and was determined to murder Lex.) In the season 4 episode "Ageless", Genevieve threatens to burn Lex's eyes out and kill him if Lionel doesn't tell her where the stone he had possession of was. On multiple occasions Lionel has been willing to sacrifice his son's life, and in the season 3 finale, "Covenant (1)", he drugs Lex's brandy.

The dosage should have killed him.
