The two men were forced to set aside their differences, in order to get the kids out of the burning building. Brian wanted to go down the stairs, but Jason insisted they keep going up, to wait for the rescue chopper. Brian finally agreed, and the two were able to get the children to safety.

Luke, nicknamed Skye, Blaze. He gave her this name because she was wild and determined to fight the fire, and find her way to safety. Luke and Skye found a closet full of fire extinguishers and made it to the Versailles room, saving Brian in the process.

She told her that Sonny was really Kristina's father. After a lot of yelling, and some crying, they worked together to get out of the elevator. Alexis pleaded with Carly not to tell Sonny, Carly agreed that she would keep the secret, but only time will tell if she really does.

Courtney ran into the burning building to find Jason, when she saw an elderly woman and her dog, on the stairs. The woman, Louise, did not want to leave her dog, Skippy, but she couldn't make it down the stairs with him. Courtney agreed to come back for Skippy if Louise would leave the building without him. Courtney got Louise out and came back for Skippy. Louise later gave Courtney ten million dollars and a company for her bravery.

Dillon was actually spending the night with Sage. Georgie was with Tom, the guy pretending to be her boyfriend. The four teenagers reservations got mixed up and they ended up with adjoining rooms. They were all fighting when they realized the hotel was on fire. Sage's uncle Lorenzo, found the kids and escorted them to the Versailles room to wait for the rescue chopper.

Jason was arrested for shooting Brian, during the fire. Capelli said he would escort Jason back down the stairs, instead of letting him board the rescue chopper. Jason had drawn number seven and agreed to go with Capelli, only if Courtney could go in his place.

As they walked back down the burning stairwell, Capelli handcuffed Jason to a railing and left him to die. Nikolas, later found Jason, and used an ax to free him.

Because the chopper could only take seven people at a time, Luke came up with the idea that there would be a lottery. Everyone would draw a number to see when they would be evacuated. The children under eighteen and the seriously injured were to be evacuated first, leaving everyone else to wait for their numbers to be called. Lowest numbers would go first, and there was to be no trading or selling of numbers.

Zander was presumed dead when a body was found in the basement. The body was burned beyond recognition and was not Xander. The body was then said to be Scott Baldwin but that too was wrong. It was again identified as Zander, only it was not. He later turned up, after the fire, and tried to get Emily to run away to Canada with him.

After Emily convinced him to turn himself in, he was shot and killed, by the PCPD.
