2. The Netflix show "The Last Kingdom" is set in England during a period of invasion. Who were the invaders, who had traveled across the deep sea to get there?

Answer: Danes

"The Last Kingdom" takes place during the era of Viking invasions of a yet-to-be-unified England. At the beginning of the show, England is parsed into multiple kingdoms with plenty of infighting. As Vikings -- or Danes, as they're called on the show -- arrive to plunder and take over more and more land, one Anglo-Saxon kingdom manages to fight them off, Wessex, where Alfred the Great rules.

The show follows the experiences of Uhtred of Bebbanburg, born a Saxon but raised by a Danish chief, and his struggle to regain his title and holdings in the northern lands.
