Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Holly's opening monologue, he says he has an IQ of 6000. He says this is the same IQ as six thousand what?

Answer: P.E. Teachers

Holly insults several different professions in his opening recaps.
2. What song is Lister singing as he drives his spacebike to the vending machine?

Answer: 'Clementine'

It's a somewhat updated version of the song, about the daughter of a plutonium miner.
3. What items does Lister order from the vending machine?

Answer: Bacon sandwich and black coffee

It's one of the few times he orders food that doesn't contain curry or beer. Of course, he doesn't actually get the food he orders because the machine is not working properly. It gives him a wellington boot, then a bucket.
4. What was Lister's dad's dog called?

Answer: Hannah

What a lovely name for a pit-bull terrier. He tells Cat that the photo is the only picture he has of his dad, but the dog fills up most of the photo. You can just about see his dad's leg in the corner of the photo.
5. What colour is the hankie in the pocket of Cat's suit?

Answer: Purple

Cat is wearing a very tasteful cream suit with a purple handkerchief in the breast pocket.
6. Lister's robotic goldfish Lennon stopped working in this episode.

Answer: False

It's actually McCartney who has stopped working, not Lennon. Lister opens the fish, pokes around in the wiring with a screwdriver and the fish starts swimming again.
7. Which singer does Rimmer say his new hairstyle makes him look like?

Answer: Helen Shapiro

He asks Holly for a crew-cut and Holly gives him a beehive/bouffant-type hairdo instead.
8. Which television station has a newsreader who is a hologram?

Answer: Channel 27

Lister and Rimmer are arguing about whether death automatically spells the end of your career, and Lister uses the example of the hologram who reads the news on "Groovy funky channel 27".
9. What item of clothing does Lister remove in an attempt to avert his own death?

Answer: Hat

Rimmer has seen a 'future echo' of someone who looks like Lister being killed when the drive computer explodes. He says Lister is wearing a hat when he dies, so Lister removes it under the assumption that if he's not wearing his hat, he won't die.
10. Why are the crew seeing the 'future echoes'?

Answer: They are travelling at light-speed

Red Dwarf is travelling at light-speed and the crew are therefore seeing things they are about to do, before they've actually happened.
11. What does Lister say he has never read?

Answer: A book

He's talking about all the things he's never done because he thinks he's about to die. His biggest regrets are that he's never had a prawn vindaloo and he's never read a book.
12. Who had Rimmer actually seen die in the 'future echo'?

Answer: Bexley

Rimmer had seen Bexley, one of Lister's twin sons he will have in the future, die.
13. An older Lister arrives from the future to explain what's been happening. How old is this future version of Lister?

Answer: 171

Future Lister explains that it was Bexley who Rimmer saw die. This doesn't really make sense as at the beginning of series three, we are told that the twin boys grew up at an abnormally fast rate and were sent back to live in the parallel universe they were conceived in. Never mind.
14. In what colour blankets are the babies wrapped?

Answer: Silver

The twins, Jim and Bexley, are wrapped in those silver blankets that are used to prevent hypothermia.
15. What are the last three words spoken in this episode?

Answer: Say cheese boys

Lister is taking a picture of his future self holding the babies, and the future Lister says "Stop crying and say cheese, boys!" Thank you for playing.
