Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 2018, Kai ends up in a maximum security prison in which state?

Answer: Mississippi

In 2018, in a maximum security prison in Jackson, Mississippi, Kai performs a pinky promise with one of the guards. He asks her to takeoff her shirt before some of his fellow inmates take him to the bathroom and beat him up, urging him to pick a gang and be done with it. One of the inmates beats him up, expecting to kill him, but another steps in with a hooked blade, killing the other and supporting his 'divine ruler'. Kai anticipates using the weapon to free himself form the prison, but a vision of Charles Manson suggests he tie up the loose ends first.
2. In prison, Kai refers to his followers as which of these?

Answer: An army

Kai is approached by Trevor, one of his fellow inmates, out in the yard and he tells him to perform the pinky promise to speak truthfully to one another. Trevor, who needs protection, is beat up by others for being a child-killer, accidentally running over a kid in his Tesla and hiding the body. Trevor admits to it and asks Kai if he can join his gang, but Kai calls it an army, not a gang. Kai says he'll protect Trevor on a probationary basis and he becomes the seventeenth member of the group. Trevor asks how a man like him could end up in prison and Kai says it's because he was sold out by a rat eleven months earlier.
3. According to Kai, the 'Night of a Thousand Tates' is not possible. What does he propose as an alternative?

Answer: The Night of a Hundred Tates

In 2017, Kai worries about Speedwagon being missing as Ally calms him down and prepares him for his meeting, during which he tells his men that the 'Night of a Thousand Tates', where they planned to kill one thousand pregnant women, would not be possible.

The 'Night of a Hundred Tates', however, would be, and Ally has already given the men a list of targets for each of them, pulled from local OBGYN listings and mom-yoga class lists. Kai urges them all to be precise; they need to be precise with their impalements to get their brutal message across. And when this happens, Kai will ride the wave all the way to the White House.
4. Beverly begs Ally to kill her.

Answer: True

In Ally's kitchen, Beverly continues to work to feed the men, still being relegated to kitchen duty. Ally realizes Beverly's tension as they work together to make a watermelon and feta salad and she tries to calm her down, but Beverly admits she's done.

She always wanted to be the last one standing, but now she just wants to die. Ally tells her to hang in; after the 'Night of a Hundred Tates', everything will be righted again and they can all be happy. Beverly seems convinced, however, that Ally should just kill her, even going so far as to put a knife in her hands. Kai, meanwhile, starts getting more paranoid about Speedwagon's disappearance and Ally has to calm him down.
5. Once Speedwagon was revealed to be the mole revealing Kai's cult activities, who killed him?

Answer: Ally

To calm Kai down, Ally shows him the hidden device used to spy on his activities; she informs him that she found it two days ago but kept it secret so as to avoid worrying him. She found it on Speedwagon when he tried to escape after Winter's death. As it turned out, Speedwagon was expected to go to prison for five years for possession of ecstasy pills at a rave.

Instead, he cut a deal with the state police to wear a wire and infiltrate Detective Samuels' dirty gang work, and what he found was the cult activity. Ally asked him if his transmission was being relayed, but Speedwagon told the truth, saying he was just wearing a recorder.

She stabbed him in the chest. This means that Kai killed his sister and she was innocent; she never intended on giving him up to the cops. Ally tells him to let his sister's death have meaning; he needs to wake the country out of its stupor.
6. Ally works with which agency to bring down Kai and his men?

Answer: FBI

The night arrives. Kai has the men assemble their 'kill kits', encouraging them to give themselves up for the cause if need-be. As Kai hands a bowl of Adderall out to his army, Ally and Beverly watch from the sidelines. Ally heads upstairs, telling one of the men she's going to grab some snacks, but instead she heads nervously out the front door, making her way out to some vans across the street occupied by FBI agents. She tells them to act immediately.
And so the raid begins. The FBI sends in the smoke grenades and, soon, gunfire rings out. Kai grabs a gun and his soldiers fall, some committing suicide instead of fighting. In the chaos, Beverly grabs a gun as well, firing at Kai's men to save herself. She watches as Kai is brought to the floor.
On the way out, Beverly thanks Ally for her encouragement, reminding her just to hang on. Kai is put into the back of a van and he vows to kill Ally someday.
7. Whose murder is the only one Kai doesn't take credit for?

Answer: Ivy

Time passes and Ally inevitably reopens the Butchery on Main in an attempt to put the past behind her. One night, Beverly stops in at the restaurant for a chat. Kai, she says, plead guilty to all charges, never going to trial. She believes that at one point or another, the other shoe will drop and she'll be spent to jail. Ally tells the truth; she never saw Beverly commit a crime. Ally also reveals that the FBI visited her in the psychiatric ward when her psychiatrist had her committed; they granted her immunity because they suspected something was wrong when Kai's failed assassination attempt occurred.
But the truth isn't quite there when Beverly asks about when Kai killed Ivy. Ally says that it was hard for her to process, but she'll always remember Ivy's last words being 'I love you' and 'I'm sorry' and 'protect our son'. Oddly, Ivy's murder is the only one Kai doesn't take credit for.
Beverly, meanwhile, stopped working as a news reporter.
8. Of what profession is Ally's new girlfriend, Erica?

Answer: Chef

While Ally and Beverly talk, Ally's new chef comes out with a complimentary dish and Ally introduces her as Erica, her girlfriend of eight weeks, two days. Erica suggests that they finalize Oz's birthday plans as soon as possible. Ally invites Beverly.
On the night of the party, Ally receives a phone call and Erica intercepts it; people keep trying to get her to give an interview about her experience, but she's turned them all down from Rachel Maddow to Lana Winters. The phone rings again. This time, it's Kai calling from prison. She accepts the charges and listens as he reams her out for all she's done.
In prison, Kai ends up watching a breaking news report; Ally, along with Erica and Beverly, has decided to perform a duty by speaking out and campaigning for a seat on the United States senate...in the exact seat Kai expected to take.
9. Under which of these labels does Ally run for a senatorial position?

Answer: Independent

Ally uses her story to propel her through a senatorial race, campaigning on an independent platform dedicated to demolishing the antiquated two-party political system of the U.S. Soon, her house becomes an office for her political work and Beverly becomes a campaign manager.

It works well, but it seems that voters are worried about follow-through and lack of experience even though they all know her name for all that happened with the cult. Beverly admits that when they see Ally, they see Kai; she's a victim.

As long as he's alive, he'll always be connected. Nonetheless, they need to go head to head against the incumbent senator in a debate and they need to put on a show. In prison, Kai has Trevor don identical tattoos to him and he has his converted guard, Gloria, bring him into the kitchen. Kai stabs him multiple times and asks for Gloria's help in mutilating the body.

Then, she dresses him up as a guard and lets him walk through the front gate.
10. Does Ally win her senatorial seat?

Answer: Yes

Ally and Beverly discuss Kai's mutilation in prison and decide to go through with the debate anyways, and soon Ally goes head-to-head against Senator Andrews. When the question-and-answer segment comes up, it appears that Kai has already infiltrated the debate and he steps up to ask her one thing: if she realizes she was anything more than a symbol he created. He tells her that she symbolizes female hope of overcoming the patriarchy, but he'll be able to kill her and send America into the death spiral it needs to be great again. When he aims the gun he's been handed by Gloria and pulls the trigger though, there are no bullets inside. It seems that Ally already had a talk with Gloria and pulled her away from his side.
Ally says Kai was wrong: there was something out there worse than a humiliated man. It was a nasty woman.
From behind, Beverly shoots Kai in the head.
When the polls close, Ally wins the senatorial seat by a staggering margin, snagging 80% of female voters
The night her results are announced, Ally tucks Oz into bed and he asks her if she gets to boss people around. She says that she wants to let the people lead; she wants him to have a better world to live in. As she turns out the lights, she heads off to a meeting.
The meeting is with a group of powerful women who plan to change the system. She gets ready to leave, donning a black cloak, not unlike those worn by the followers of Valerie Solanos.
