The police arrive to find Jessica dead in her backyard, stabbed countless times by unknown assailants. Amy arrives on the scene with the coroner.
The next day, Mike awakens to find Marla making breakfast for her granddaughter. Mike says that he finally slept well and dreamt that they all went to the beach. He sits down and feels something wrong with his teeth, but there's no time to discuss it; Amy knocks on the door, having arrived with the bad news.
She reveals everything-- it was kids who killed Jess. Props from 'Candle Cove' and Daphne's body were found in Mrs. Booth's house. Of course, she needs Mike's help.

After Amy departs, Mike tells Marla that Jessica has been killed despite the fact that they thought it was over. An intense tooth pain forces him to go to the bathroom and, there, he finds something protruding from his upper gum. There's not much time to investigate though-- his wife, Erica, has arrived.

She quickly chats with Mike before reuniting with Lily and saying that they will be returning to New York. At the station, Amy has a meeting with her team and makes it clear that the children are believed to be the culprits behind Jessica's murder. With Mrs. Booth now missing, they have no choice but to canvas the town and search for her on a more thorough scale.

Mike isn't able to convince Amy that he should visit Mrs. Booth's house alone, and with her so busy with the investigation, she isn't able to tag along. Instead, he convinces her that due to the unique circumstances surrounding the recent events, he should bring Gary along to search the Booth household.
They let themselves in, and while Mike heads straight to the basement, Gary is distracted by something he sees by chance outside the kitchen window. There's a wooden stake outside, and atop it are three teeth.
Mike finds the dolls in the basement, but realizes that they're just fakes. They aren't the right dolls. He's distracted when the phone rings and he answers it. It's Mrs. Booth, and she has so much to tell him.

In 1988, Eddie stopped by at Mrs. Booth's class for a quick chat and she explained that if he needed any help, he was always free to ask for it. When he turned around though, she began to have another seizure. Jacob helped her, but it was Eddie who commanded her to 'stop', and she did.
Mrs. Booth, worried about Gary's likely irrationality, asks Mike to meet her somewhere to talk. He ends up leaving Gary at Mrs. Booth's house alone, and after calling Amy he decides not to wait around.
'Candle Cove' plays in town, and the kids watching are coerced into gathering together. Even Katie, still in the hospital, decides it's time to leave her bed. Gary finds it empty when he arrives.

Amy returns to the station and discovers that none of her deputies have located any of the kids they needed to bring in. They switch tactics, now needing to find Mike. mike is at Skinner's, the old, abandoned restaurant outside of Iron Hill, next door to the empty water park. One of the deputies, Simon, finds Mike moments after he arrives, and though he's nearly distracted into following some kids crossing a nearby field, Mike convinces him to wait, just for a moment, while he goes inside, urging him not to run into any danger.

As soon as Mike goes inside, Simon makes the unwise decision to explore a bit, following the children out back to the water slide. It's a bad idea; Mike watches from inside as a figure dressed as Jawbone kills him, surrounded by the kids. Mike heads outside to investigate, but the pain from his toothache is overwhelming and he collapses, barely making out Mrs. Booth's face when she pulls back her mask.

Answer: Car troubles

Erica and Lily head out from Iron Hill discussing dinner, but as they drive down the road, they nearly hit one of the children from town. By the time they swerve off the road, the children are gone. After they check into a motel, Erica finds that the car is damaged and that she and Lily will need to wait for a new rental.
At the station, Amy receives calls from concerned townspeople but she has to put down the phone when all of the computer monitors in the building switch to the face of Jawbone. Gary arrives to see this as well.
Mike dreams that he's become a puppet before he awakens in the grass behind Skinner's. Simon's body remains on the concrete nearby.

Answer: At Marla's house

Marla runs chores around her house, but finds her attentions diverted when she heads back inside. Mrs. Booth has let herself in, and she's armed.
Mike comes alone this time, returning to his mother's house and sitting at the kitchen table for their long-awaited talk. Mrs. Booth serves them food and urges them to eat, but neither of the Painters are hungry. Marla is shocked that Mrs. Booth comforted her when Eddie died considering she took him away, but Mrs. Booth says that they can finally have their reunion.
Mike asks about 'Candle Cove', and Mrs. Booth says that she found purpose in everything that happened.

Mrs. Booth continues, insisting that she was always just a void, but after Eddie showed her his powers in the classroom and saved her from her seizures, she found something magnificent. She admits that she never created 'Candle Cove'-- Eddie did, and it rose out of his powers of its own accord. Mike always figured that 'Candle Cove' found Eddie; it was the other way around. And he's dead, but only in a literal sense.

He's almost ready to return. In 1988, Mrs. Booth made her sacrifice for his power.

When Eddie asked for more power, she conceded to his will, allowing him to take her own son as sacrifice. She fed the fire so it could burn even brighter. Now it's their turn.

Mrs. Booth says that Mike's return has been the catalyst for much of the powers circulating around them. Since his return and since he put the body to rest, he's been creating a vessel for Eddie's return, and already he can likely feel the changes occurring with in him, breaking him down bit by bit.

The sooner Mike lets him in, the sooner the pain will go away. As she leaves, she says that Mike has a night, maybe a day at most, before he'll need to go with him. Mike sees Lily enter the kitchen and he follows her upstairs to the bedroom.

He doesn't see when he places the hook into his hand, but he sees his reflection transform into Eddie's in the mirror. He's snapped out of his delusion when Marla shakes him out of it.

At the motel, Erica sleeps while Lily watches TV. The channel flips to 'Candle Cove' and, from the darkness, the tooth boy emerges, scaring her under the covers. When she peels back the blankets, he's still there, but she's less scared. He hides under the bed while Erica continues to sleep.
Mrs. Booth, heading through the woods, reaches her makeshift home, a camper in the trees. Inside, she tells the children waiting inside that they must sleep as he'll be amongst them soon.
That night, pulling a pair of pliers from the kitchen drawer, Mike tugs at the extra tooth in his upper gums until he finally pulls it out. A TV in the bedroom turns on to loud static even though it's not plugged in, and something traps him inside. He watches as the screen changes to 'Candle Cove'. Lily's on the episode at the mouth of a large cave.
