In this episode, aptly titled "The Pineapple Incident," Ted (Josh Radnor) drank five shots and then picked up Trudy (Danica McKeller) at the bar. It was never explained where the pineapple came from, but Trudy returned for one episode in season three.

When Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) was a little boy, his mother told him that Bob Barker was his father. Barney grew up believing this to be true and even appeared on "The Price is Right" game show in order to meet Barker. After Barney won a bunch of prizes, Bob told him that he was proud of him and Barney started to tear up a little.

Robin (Cobie Smulders) had a hit with the song "Let's go to the Mall" in the 1990's (although ironically, the video seemed to be shot in the 80's because, as Robin said, the 80's didn't come to Canada until the '90's). The video is hilarious and it seems that her friends will never let her live it down.

Lily (Alyson Hannigan) applied to an art program in San Francisco, and was accepted, without telling Marshall (Jason Segal). The date of the program conflicted with their wedding, but Lily decided that she had to at least try to fulfill her dream of being an artist, so she left Marshall behind.

Lily's apartment had indeed been turned into a Chinese restaurant. But because she spent so much time at Ted and Marshall's apartment, she never got the notices that her landlord died and that she had to move out, until her building had already been taken over. The people at the Chinese restaurant did save her belongings for her and even displayed some in the restaurant.

Not only did Brad "date" Marshall, but he ditched everyone at Marshall's bachelor party to go gambling, and tackled the photographer at Lily and Marshall's wedding.
Carl is the bartender at the gang's favorite bar, Stuart is Marshall and Ted's friend who got married in season 1, and Scooter is Lily's high school boyfriend who tried to stop her wedding to Marshall.

Bob Saget, formerly of "Full House," provides the voice of older Ted in each episode of "How I Met Your Mother." On the DVD commentary, Saget said how much he likes the job as he just goes to the studio, records his voiceover and is all done for the week.

The game that Marshall plays is called Baskiceball, which is hockey with a basketball and tennis rackets. Lily questions the game's name, asking if it should be Icesketball instead but all the Eriksens look at her as if she were crazy.

Ted thought he saw recording artist Moby on the side of the road and invited him into their limo. It turns out that "Moby" was just a crazy guy with a gun.

In the episode "The Taste of Liberty," Barney and Ted try to pick up some women at the airport. When it turns out that the women are headed to Philadelphia, Ted and Barney go too, but are disappointed when the women turn out to have professional athlete boyfriends. Instead, Ted and Barney make a detour to lick the Liberty Bell.
