Robert Fuller was also known for his five year starring role on TV western series "Laramie", playing Jess Harper. Two others members of Dr. Brackett's staff were Dr. Joe Early, played by music composer Bobby Troup, and his real life wife, singer Julie London, who played Nurse Dixie McCall. London was also the former wife of producer/actor Jack Webb, who not only produced and directed "Emergency!" but hired Troup and London for their roles.

Alda commuted from L.A. to his home in New Jersey every weekend for the 11 year run of the series.

After leaving the Army, the character turned up in the 1979 series titled "Trapper John, MD." On this show, Trapper John was the Chief of Staff at San Francisco Memorial Hospital.

This dramatic medical series ran from 1979 through 1986. This show starred Pernell Roberts in the title role. Roberts is best known as the eldest son of rancher Ben Cartwright on the long running western series "Bonanza."
