Arlo was killed. Raylan visited his father at the end of "Money Trap" and offered him a deal. If Arlo told him who Drew Thompson was, Raylan would ensure he went to a country club prison. Arlo, who was already counting on a deal to get out of jail, turned him down, graphically. Looking at his father, who was in prison for trying to kill Raylan (and killing a state trooper in his place), Raylan told him that he was going to see former Sheriff Hunter Moseley (who also tried to kill Raylan) next.

He then said, "You are going to die here, and not in the distant future. Tomorrow or maybe Sunday after chow . . . I'll tell you something: I'm gonna be glad when I hear the news." Arlo was murdered by Hunter Moseley in the next episode, "Outlaw."

Raylan caught up with Randall and Lindsay in "This Bird has Flown." When Raylan heard Randall wanted to get into fighter management, he thought it was human fighters. However, it turned out to be chickens, and Raylan was left with the game cocks and no money. Raylan left Randall cuffed to the van, with the chickens inside, for the state police.

After Bob interrupted the kids that broke into Arlo's house, he called Raylan. Raylan discovered a Panamanian diplomatic bag containing Waldo Truth's driver's license inside the wall where the kids had made the hole. This set up the first clues to one of the main mysteries of the season.

After telling Raylan he knew nothing about the license, Arlo proceeded to kill a fellow prisoner who heard about it.

This exchange occurred after Boyd made a deal with Theo Tonin's people. He committed to finding Drew Thompson, made a deal to go into business with them, and got them to cut the Clover Hill crowd off from their crooked lawmen. After this speech, Boyd told them he wanted $100,000 from each of them, as well as assistance getting a Dairy Queen franchaise.

Answer: Waldo was dead

The Truth family told the marshals that the last time they saw Waldo was thirty years before, when he went off with Drew Thompson. Art recalled the parachute accident where Drew Thompson's body was discovered, and figured out that it was actually Waldo who died, and Drew had survived.

Answer: The high school

Raylan went to the high school. Boyd figured out he would go there, since an astronaut had landed a helicopter there when they were in high school. Raylan left briefly to get Bob, who was badly beaten by Yolo (who Raylan called Yahoo). When Boyd showed up with Picker, Raylan told them they would need more men.

By the time Boyd and Picker came back with several other men, Rachel and Drew were already out of Harlan, on a train. The marshals had won the race to get Drew.

Answer: Theo Tonin

The marshals interviewed Drew's wife. She confirmed that he had faked his own death thirty years before, and told them it was because he had witnessed the murder of the government informant by the crime boss, Theo Tonin. Later, the marshals found out that Drew had also shot Tonin, giving the mob boss another reason to want Drew dead.

Art and Tim led a caravan of vehicles out of town as a decoy. This led to a game of chess between Tim and a Colt. Colt had rigged cars on the road with bombs. Tim spotted them, and he and Colt played a life and death game, as Tim kept the group alive, and Colt figured out it was a decoy.

Art's enumeration of Drew's accomplishments was impressive. After calling him "awesome," he said: "He shoots Theo Tonin, fakes his own death in a spectacular fashion, pushes a guy out of an airplane while he's flying it, parachutes into Harlan County with enough coke and cash to jump start the economy of a small country, and then he has the balls to get a job in law enforcement - not once, but two times, he spends a couple days riding around with you (Raylan) while you're looking for him, and now he's run off with a hooker that's half his age!"

After the Drew Thompson case was taken away from the FBI and given to the marshals, the Justice Department decided to make a deal with Raylan's father Arlo. Arlo would reveal Drew Thompson's name and the Justice Department would release him - letting him walk after killing a state trooper and an inmate. Raylan asked how long it would take to approve the deal, and upon hearing twenty-four hours, he had his assignment to find Thompson so the Arlo would not get his deal and be released. Since everyone, including Theo Tonin's thugs, the Dixie Mafia, Boyd Crowder, and Arlo's attorney got into the act of trying to find Drew Thompson, the deal was stalled and Raylan ended up with more than twenty-four hours.

Answer: Johnny Crowder led the marshals to them

Raylan and Rachel were searching for Ellen May so she could lead them to Drew. They found Johnny, who went on a rant about how much he hated his cousin, Boyd. Rachel noted that he sounded like Boyd had stolen his girl. He responded that Boyd had stolen Raylan's girl, but stolen his (Johnny's) job.

He then offered to give Drew to the marshals. He did this to stop Boyd from becoming a made man with Tonin. This way, Boyd would lose all his money and be in trouble with the mobster.

At the end of the episode, Boyd brought Ava to an overlook. He showed her the money he had been saving, and told her it was for a down payment on a house. He told her that within three generations, the Crowders would be legitimate - "an old family name". He then got down on one knee, presented her with a ring, and proposed. Ava accepted.

Theo had discovered that Drew was refusing to sign his deal until Ellen May was safe. Therefore, Nicky decided to go after Ellen May. But, when Johnny attempted to deal with Limehouse, he realized that Boyd already had a deal in place with him. So, Nicky decided to partner with Boyd, and offered him the money to get Ellen May and Johnny.

However, when Ava took the money to Limehouse to make the deal, she found out he had already let Ellen May go. She caught up with Ellen May at the church, but was unable to bring herself to kill her. Ellen May was taken into custody by the marshals, setting up the circumstances for Ava to be arrested for killing Delroy.

Answer: Shelby Parlow

Sheriff Shelby Parlow was Drew Thompson. He was an impressive criminal, serving as a lawman twice while he was hiding out with an alias, and "helping" the marshals search for Drew. During "Hatchett Tour," he accompanied Raylan as he transported Hunter Moseley, never letting on that Hunter was keeping his secret, and had killed Arlo for him.

After hearing about the connection between the two men from Bob, Raylan realized Shelby was the fugitive. Shelby had already stolen Bob's car and escaped. When Raylan and other lawmen set out to catch him at his house, it was Boyd who showed up, looking for Shelby. Boyd then realized Shelby was Drew, as well.

This set up a race, as Boyd, Johnny, the Dixie Mafia and Detroit mob tried to find Drew before all the lawmen.

Answer: Delivered Nicky to Sammy Tonin and walked away

Raylan attempted to reason with Nicky. He refused. He tried to make a deal. Again, Nicky refused. He tried to get Nicky to pull a gun on him. Nicky did not pull. Nicky told him that he said he would kill Raylan's family and he would do so. So, Raylan made a deal with Nicky's new boss, Sammy, who did not get along with Nicky, and who Nicky planned to kill. Sammy had just taken over, since Theo left the country to stop from being arrested once Drew was in custody. Raylan told Sammy that Nicky was in the car. Sammy asked if he would arrest him if he took action. Raylan told him that he was suspended and walked away - as Sammy had his men kill Nicky.
