Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was Frank's rank while he was at the 4077th?

Answer: Major

I'll never understand why the army made Frank a Major. Maybe it was because he was so gung-ho! If you recall, Frank was promoted to Lt. Colonel and sent stateside after Margaret got married and he went crazy.
2. What city and state did Frank call home?

Answer: Fort Wayne, Indiana

We find out this bit of information out in the episode "Hawk's Nightmare". Hawkeye was sleepwalking and having terrible dreams about old friends dying terrible deaths; he was desperate to stay awake. He was so desperate that he woke up Frank and tried to have a long conversation with him!
3. What was his wife's name?

Answer: Louise

Louise was also the name of Trapper's wife. Nancy was the name of Frank's receptionist back in America; we find out in the episode "Carry On, Hawkeye" that he had an affair with Nancy as well! But Frank never left Louise because she came from money.
4. What nickname did Frank have when he attended school that was reprised at the 4077th?

Answer: "Ferret Face"

Actually, I believe he was referred to as "Needle Nose" in one or two episodes. But he was called "Ferret Face" quite a few times.
5. Which actor played Frank?

Answer: Larry Linville

The other actors all played characters on "M*A*S*H" over the years; however, I don't think any of them could've played Frank as well as Larry Linville. Rest In Peace, Mr. Linville.
6. On the show, do we ever hear of Frank having a pet at one time in his life?

Answer: Yes

In the episode "Bug Out" Frank tells Radar that Radar's animals are neither military nor medical and therefore they will not be going to the new M*A*S*H. Radar asks Frank if he ever had a pet and Frank replies, "Just a canary. Never sang a note. And it bit me". Radar then says, "Well maybe you didn't talk to it right". Frank, enraged by this opinion, barks at Radar and says, "Are you telling a doctor how to talk to a bird"? Sheesh!
7. How many seasons was the character of Frank on "M*A*S*H"?

Answer: Five

The last episode that Frank was on was "Margaret's Marriage". The last words he said were "Bye Margaret". And good-bye Frank, hello Charles!
8. Frank had four children.

Answer: False

Frank had three children. Margaret mentioned this in the epiosde "Henry In Love". It was when she and Frank met Nancy Sue for the first time and said, "She looks a little like your oldest daughter, doesn't she Frank"? Frank got this terrified look on his face!
9. In the episode "Margaret's Engagement" Frank went somewhat off the deep end after hearing from Margaret herself that she was going to wed another man. First he brought in a Korean family, claiming they were enemy guerillas. Then he held BJ, Hawkeye and Colonel Potter at gunpoint. Luckily, Radar knew what was happening and placed a long-distance to one of Frank's relatives and then informed Frank he had a phone call, which in turn caused Frank to give the gun to Radar. Which one of Frank's relatives had Radar called?

Answer: His mother

The conversation between Frank and his mother was kinda sad. He told his mother that he had a friend and that this friend only pretended to like him, the way his dad used to. The others were listening in on this call and Hawkeye said, "He's crying".
10. In the episode "There Is Nothing Like A Nurse" Hawkeye, Trapper, Klinger, Colonel Potter and Radar watched Frank's wedding movie.

Answer: False

Actually, it was Colonel Blake, not Colonel Potter, who, along with the rest of the gang, had a good laugh watching Frank attempt to get through his wedding. My favorite part is when Frank is attempting to cut the wedding cake, especially when Hawkeye says, "Even then, he didn't know how to hold a knife". Too funny!
11. In the episode "Change Of Command" how long did BJ say he spent under Frank's command?

Answer: A week

BJ said, "Frank, I spent a week with you in command. You lost me when you rigged the toilet seats to come to attention". To which Frank replied, "Only for inspection". Oh, brother.
12. In the episode "Bulletin Board" Margaret asked Frank if he would lend her $240 so that she could get her younger sister a nice wedding present. Of course Frank, being such a great guy, lent it to her right away.

Answer: False

Frank refused to give Margaret the money at first, saying it just went against the grain. Margaret gave him the cold shoulder for awhile until he finally caved in; of course there had to be something in it for him; he was going to charge Margaret interest on the loan! How greedy was he?
13. In the episode "Soldier Of The Month" what did Frank leave to Margaret in his will?

Answer: His clothes

Frank had contracted a disease called hemmoragic fever. He was put in the post-op ward and Margaret was tending to him. He said that he thought he was dying and Margaret reassured him that he wasn't. Then Margaret said, "Frank, have you made out a will"?, to which Frank replied, "Why do I need to make out a will if I'm not dying"? Margaret said it was just a precautionary measure and got Father Mulcahy to write down Frank's will; of course she listened in! When Frank said that he was leaving Margaret his clothes, the look on her face was just priceless!
14. In the episode "Movie Tonight" the gang had a little sing-along. In Frank's contribution to the song, he expressed a desire to stab BJ and Hawkeye in the heart with a certain surgical instrument. What was Frank's instrument of choice?

Answer: Scalpel

While the crowd liked everyone else's contribution to the song, nobody cared for Frank's! Frank sang his part of the song after the song had actually stopped being sung.
15. In the episode "As You Were" the 4077th is enjoying a lull from the usual outpouring of wounded. Margaret is trying to convince Frank to ask Hawkeye and Trapper if they would consider operating on a medical condition of Frank's that he should've had taken care of a long time ago. What was Frank's problem?

Answer: Hernia

When Frank and Margaret went into the Swamp to ask Hawkeye and Trapper if they would operate, they were shocked to find them in gorilla costumes that they had gotten from back home! Well, that's it. Hope you enjoyed my quiz! Bye!
