Alan Alda (Captain Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce) and Loretta Swit (Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan) were the only two actors to play the entire 11 seasons. William Chistopher (Lieutenant Francis John Patrick Mulcahy) first appeared in episode 3 "Requiem for a Lightweight", and Jamie Farr(Corporal Maxwell Q. "Max" Klinger) was introduced in episode 4 "Chief Surgeon Who? and next appeared in Episode 12 "Dear Dad". Gary Burgoff (Corporal Walter Eugene "Radar" O'Reilly) left the series in 1979.

Answer: Hawkeye Pierce, Margaret Houlihan, Father Mulcahy

Father Mulcahy was in "The Pilot" episode. (He won the raffle for a weekend with Nurse Dish), however he was played by George Morgan, not William Christopher.
3. What season did Mike Farrell (Captain BJ Hunnicut) join the cast?

Answer: Season 4

Mike Farrell joined the cast at the beginning of the fourth season when Wayne Rogers decided not to return. Also Harry Morgan (Colonel Sherman T. Potter) took command of the 4077th in the third episode of season 4 and kept command throughout the remainder of the series.
4. Who replaced Larry Linville (Major Frank Burns) at the beginning of season 6?

Answer: David Ogden Stiers (Major Charles Emerson Winchester, III)

After Frank ran amok in Tokyo and was sent stateside, Colonel Potter was looking for a replacement surgeon. Winchester was chosen just as he was trying to collect a $672.17 cribbage debt from a Colonel at Tokyo General, a friend of Colonel Potter's.
5. Who is the only main character actor to have played his/her character in the 1970 movie "MASH" and the TV series?

Answer: Gary Burghoff (Radar O'Reilly)

Gary Burghoff was the only main character actor from the movie that was approached when the TV Series went into development. However, G. Wood played General Hammond in the movie and three episodes of the TV show. In the movie Henry Blake was played by Roger Bowen (who passed away 16 February 1996, 1 day after McLean Stevenson, both died of heart attacks), Margaret Houlihan was played by Sally Kellerman and Frank Burns by Robert Duvall.

Edward Winter played Captain Halloran in the episode "Deal Me Out". Ron Howard played Peterson in "Sometimes You Hear the Bullet", Ed Begley Jr. played Conway in "Too Many Cooks" and Patrick Swayze played Sturgis in "Blood Brothers".
