In her first hallucination she sees herself covered in the same rash that afflicted all the sick 4400s. While placing a call to 9-1-1, she looks into the mirror and sees it has disappeared. After the final hallucination of Brian turning into a sickly Shawn Ferrell, she turns to Isabelle and begs her to stop causing them.

After a quick visit to Maia and Alana, Diana escorts Tom Baldwin into Dr. Hudson's office. She immediately points the gun to his head and orders him to reveal the truth about what was making the returnees sick. Max says they never wanted to cause anyone any harm, neither illness nor death, but Diana says later that if they all died it would be a coup for the government.

Orson Bailey was the very first to demonstrate an extraordinary ability, and the first to kill someone with it. He later committed a suicide of sorts by forcing Diana to shoot him in order to save Tom. Oliver Knox, played expertly by "Oz" alum Lee Tergesen, was a serial killer returnee that had the power to control people's actions. He would get into their heads and see through them. He had innocent people killing for him.

According to Max Hudson, this 5th neurotransmitter gave Orson Bailey access to parts of the cerebellum that no human had ever had access to. Orson Bailey had the power to move onjects with mind. He destroyed part of the nursing home that had housed wife, after he found out she died. He retreated to a cabin in the woods, where Diana was later forced to shoot him.

Dennis showed Tom the pictures of Kyle preparing to kill Collier, but did nothing to ever prevent Collier's death. Then, he framed Roy Marsden for Collier's murder as a "gift" to Tom. Tom knew for sure at that moment that Dennis could have instigated the Firewall Memo. Dennis was no longer than man Tom thought he knew, a man incapable of allowing an innocent to be murdered in cold blood.

Diane was shocked to learn from Nina Jarvis (sporting a black sling in this episode) that Max had committed suicide when he had so many lives in his hands. She told Tom and Diana she took the Firewall Memo out of the trash and took it home that night. She gave her notice the next day, as she spent 20 years believing Dennis was the best man she'd known. The memo changed all of that.
