Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Why did everyone call Bob Briscoe "Bulldog"?

Answer: He barked at people.

Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe worked at the radio station with Frasier. He hosted his own show called "The Gonzo Sports Show". Everyone called him Bulldog because he barked at people. He thought he was God's gift to women and the best looking guy to walk the earth. He was always hitting on Roz and trying to get her to go to bed with him.

She always turned him down except for a short time when they couldn't keep their hands off each other. They finally ended it when they realized it was only physical. In season 1, Daphne won a date with him at a bachelor auction for 100 dollars.

They went on a date to a basketball game. After the game they were in the limo in the parking lot. Bulldog was getting Daphne drunk and she was yelling out the window to this other guy who was honking his horn.

The guy got angry so he came over to them and pulled Bulldog out of the limo and beat him up. It was hilarious.
2. What was the name of the man that Daphne almost married?

Answer: Donny

Donny Douglas was the man that Daphne almost married. He was hired on as Niles' divorce lawyer. In a weird coincidence, after Donny and Daphne met, they ended up falling for each other. Niles was devastated. Daphne found out about how Niles felt about her the night before her wedding. Daphne confronted Niles about it and he told her it was true.

At first she refused him because he was already married to someone else and she was getting married the next day. The next day, the day of the wedding, Niles was spending some time alone because he was having a hard time with Daphne's rejection.

After talking to his father and brother, Daphne showed up in her wedding dress, leaving Donny at the altar. Niles was ecstatic. Daphne called him Niles for the first time as they drove away together.
3. What was the game that Frasier and Niles played often?

Answer: squash

Frasier and Niles were often seen in their squash outfits, either going to play a game or coming back from a game. Squash seemed to be the only sport they could play. Frasier and Niles weren't very athletic, although it always seemed that Niles came out the victor in the games he and Frasier played together.
4. What was the name of the apartment complex where Frasier lived?

Answer: Elliot Bay Towers

The name of Frasier's apartment complex was Elliot Bay Towers. Anytime Frasier would invite someone to his apartment, he would always say "I live at Elliot Bay Towers on the counterbalance." His apartment was exquisite; he had a balcony with an amazing view of the city of Seattle and the Space Needle. It was a good sized apartment, with three bedrooms and four bathrooms.
5. What was the name of the apartment complex where Niles lived?

Answer: The Montana

After Niles separated from Maris, he lived in the Montana. It was a bigger apartment than Frasier's. It had a library and a gift wrapping room. During their divorce, Maris canceled all of Niles' credit cards and his bank account so he had to move to the lower class apartment complex, the Shangri-La.

He eventually did move back to The Montana. He and Daphne lived there after they got married.
6. What was the name of the man who fathered Alice, Roz's daughter?

Answer: Rick

Rick was Alice's father. Rick was a 20 year old college student who was working as a waiter at Cafe Nervosa and living with his parents. He and Roz had a brief fling and Roz became pregnant. Since Rick was so young and had his future ahead of him, Roz decided to raise Alice alone.

She told Rick that she would keep him informed and send him pictures of the baby, but we don't know if she ever did because we never saw him again.
7. What glaringly obvious but hilarious trait did Alice's father's parents have?

Answer: huge noses

In the episode "Roz the Schnoz" Rick's mother called Roz at Frasier's where Roz was staying at the time. She said that she and her husband wanted to meet Roz. Roz thought it was a bad idea for all the obvious reasons but Frasier called Rick's mom back.
When Roz finally met Rick's parents, they had huge noses. It was hilarious. Everyone couldn't stop laughing. I can imagine how hard it was for them to tape this episode, due to all the laughing they did.
Despite the fact that they had huge noses, Rick's parents were very nice people. Roz was worried that her baby would turn out ugly.
8. What was the name of Niles' bird that died?

Answer: Baby

After Niles' separation and impending divorce from Maris, he bought a dog that looked and acted just like Maris. After seeing the dog, everyone thought it would be a good idea for Niles to get a smaller pet. Niles ended up buying a white cockatoo named Baby.

She liked to say "I love you" a lot and hated doorbells. Anytime the doorbell would ring, Baby would dig her claws into Niles' shoulder or head. Once during a party, someone rang the doorbell and Baby spent almost the entire time glued to Niles head.

It was pretty funny. Later on in the series, in the episode "Taps at the Montana", Baby died from choking on Daphne's earring but they initially thought she died from eating bad hors d'oeuvres.
9. What kind of special powers did Daphne say she possessed?

Answer: psychic

When we first met Daphne in the pilot episode, "The Good Son", she claimed to have psychic powers. Surprisingly enough, she was right a lot of the time. She was right when she said that Martin was a cop, but was wrong when she thought that Frasier was a florist. Also, she had no idea that Niles had loved her for years until Frasier told her.

She also said that her powers worked best during "her time of the month", more information than we probably needed to know. It was cute and funny.
10. What were the letters of the radio station the Frasier and Roz worked at?

Answer: KACL

Frasier and Roz worked at KACL 780 AM. A lot of episodes centered around the radio station. The letters of the radio station were an acronym for the creators of "Frasier" (I thought that was pretty neat when I found out). KAKE is a local television station where I live, KOCL and KABL are made up. KABL is a play on the word "cable".
11. What was the name of Niles' second wife?

Answer: Mel

Mel was Niles' second wife. She was believe it or not, Maris' plastic surgeon. Mel was worse than Maris. She was stuck up, rude, pretentious and very bossy. Niles liked her because they shared a lot of the same interests but he eventually saw what she was really like.

When he thought he had no chance with Daphne since she was marrying Donny, he and Mel eloped to Cancun. He came back and told everyone he was married and they were shocked. After only 4 days of marriage, Niles wanted out because he and Daphne told each other how they felt. Daphne left Donny at the altar to be with Niles and both Donny and Mel were angry. To get back at Niles for hurting her, Mel forced him to pretend they were a happy couple even though he wanted to be with Daphne. Niles put up with it for awhile, but he just loved Daphne too much to hurt her anymore.

He told Mel off in front of all her rich, snobby friends and then he and Daphne were free to be together.
12. What was the name of the creepy guy that worked at the radio station who was always hitting on Roz?

Answer: Noel

Noel Shempsky worked at the radio station with Frasier and Roz. He was a die hard "Trekkie" and had a huge crush on Roz. He was always trying to get her to go out with him or at least kiss him. I found him to be a very weird and creepy guy.
13. What job did Daphne have in England when she was a teenager?

Answer: actress

In the episode "Selling Out", we found out that Daphne was an actress when she was 12 years old. She was in a show in England called "Mind Your Knickers". Daphne described the show as, "It was about a group of high spirited, ethnically diverse 12 year olds in a girls' private boarding school. I played Emma, the short spunky one. Of course, by the end of the series I was 16, 5ft 10 and had my boozies tied up tighter than a mummy." Needless to say Frasier was shocked.

It was very funny.
14. Who were Frasier and Niles named after?

Answer: Their mother's beloved lab rats who died

In the episode "Are You Being Served", Frasier and Niles came across a diary that belonged to their mother. When they first started reading it, they thought it was about them. When they got to the end of the diary they found out that it was about two of their mother's lab rats who had died.

She was using them for research. She loved them very much and after they died, she named her sons after them. Frasier and Niles were shocked that their mother had named them after rats. In the first season episode "Beloved Infidel" they discovered that their mother had cheated on their father.

They learned a lot about their mother and their parents' relationship with each other. Despite the fact that Hester had cheated on Martin, they were able to get past it and remain married.

They remained married until the day she died. It was a funny but touching episode.
15. In the episode "My Coffee With Niles", Frasier asked Niles if he loved Daphne. What did Niles respond with?

Answer: "That is preposterous. I refuse to dignify that question with an answer."

He then went on to say, "I don't know! Okay, I said it are you happy?! Why did you have to hire Venus herself? Couldn't you have found some beefy, Eastern European scrub woman who reeked of ammonia? Frasier, I can't get her out of my mind. When I look at Daphne she stirs a passion in me, I've never known before." Frasier went so far as to ask him if he wanted to divorce Maris; Niles said no but he would be willing to cheat on Maris with Daphne. Frasier was adamantly against it. Yep, it's love. Niles never cheated on Maris with Daphne but good things come to those who wait. Niles got Daphne in the end.
