Can you believe that no other quizzes have been made on the hit sitcom? I can't either, so I'm starting with season 1. It should be easy for fans of the show and hopefully interesting for the casual viewer.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the first episode of "New Girl", Jess finds herself homeless and answers a roommate wanted ad posted by the three guys. In which city do Jess and the three guys live?

Answer: Los Angeles

Jess is played by Zooey Deschanel and the show revolves around how she affects the guys and vice versa once she moves into their loft.
A fun fact: The show takes place in Los Angeles but none of the main characters work in, or are attempting to break into, the Hollywood scene. Jess is a teacher, Nick is a bartender, Schmidt works for a marketing firm, and Winston is unemployed and then gets a radio DJ gig. Cece is the closest to working in the entertainment industry since she is a model.
Staying true to the Los Angeles stereotype, none of the main characters are originally from LA. Jess and Cece are from Portland, and Nick and Winston are from Chicago. It hasn't been specifically stated where Schmidt is from but it can be assumed the mid-west area since he went to college with Nick and we saw him move to Los Angeles with his friend Benjamin.
2. Approximately a week after moving into the loft, Jess is no longer the 'new girl'. Which main character appears for the first time in the second episode by moving into the loft shortly after Jess does?

Answer: Winston

Lamorne Morris plays Winston, but he is not in the original aired pilot episode. The first character was named Coach and he was played by Damon Wayans. Wayans was cast after the audition rounds and played Coach, a testosterone-driven athlete, in the pilot episode.

However, Wayans could not stay on the show since he was under contract with "Happy Endings" which got a surprise renewal. Instead of re-casting the role, "New Girl" created the new character of Winston and cast one of the second choices from the Coach auditions.
3. Schmidt frequently likes reminding everybody that he's rich. It's a good thing that he is because when his roommates call him out on his behavior with the word "jar", what does he have to donate money to?

Answer: A douchebag jar

Schmidt is played by Max Greenfield and he is the resident ladies man. He has a tendency of saying or doing off-colored things. So whenever he acts like a douchebag, he is required to donate to the douchebag jar. It is such a regular occurrence that his friends can just say the word jar and in mid-sentence, without breaking stride, he'll put money in the jar.
Schmidt is also well-known for taking his shirt off whenever he can, so I made up the "no-shirt jar" since it would be another way for the gang to make more money off of him.
4. Especially Schmidt, but the others as well, like badgering Nick for not living up to his full potential. What did Nick drop out of before becoming a bartender?

Answer: Law school

Nick is played by Jake Johnson. We ger a bit more of Nick's background in the episode "The Story of the 50" when he starts dating Julia who is a lawyer and she is surprised to learn that Nick went to law school.
5. All of the characters have had difficulties in their love lives, but Jess is ready for a mature, grown-up relationship when she starts dating the father of one of her students. What is his name?

Answer: Russell Schiller

Dermot Mulroney plays Russell Schiller also known as Fancyman. He's rich and successful and handsome and is a major donator to Jess's school. So when she insults him when he criticizes her teaching style, she's supposed to apologize. Instead, she finds herself dating him. Also in the episode "Fancyman Part 1", Nick is drawn to Russell's rich and successful lifestyle.
6. Schmidt is known for parading his one-night stands around, but that changed in the second-half of the season. Which concubine of Schmidt's tries to keep it a secret but it ultimately turns into a full-fledged relationship?

Answer: Cece

Schmidt and Cece (played by Hannah Simone) first hook up in "Valentine's Day" - that's if you don't count hand-holding as "hooking up". They try to keep it a secret even though Schmidt is particularly proud of this conquest and ultimately their tryst is out in the open during the episode "Secrets". But at that time, it becomes a full-fledged relationship.
7. Whether Nick wants to admit to it or not, he was dumped. What is the name of Nick's ex-girlfriend whom he is trying to get over from the first episode on?

Answer: Caroline

Begrudgingly admitting to it, Nick was dumped by Caroline (played by Mary Elizabeth Ellis) six months prior to the beginning of the show. He has a tendency of prank-calling her in the pilot episode. But throughout the season, Caroline is a major focal point of Nick's relationship troubles and it is more than implied that if he wants to move on in his life, he needs to move on from her.
8. Winston didn't always live with Nick and Schmidt. He had a stint overseas playing what sport in which country?

Answer: Basketball in Latvia

This meant that when he moved back to the States he was jobless and had no knowledge of American pop culture from the past two years. Learning that Betty White was famous again but none of the other Golden Girls survived is a major story line for Winston in the episode "Naked".
9. The characters of "New Girl" have all seen their lives change for better and for worse since Jess moved into the loft. But what was the primary, motivating factor for Jess's move in the first place?

Answer: Jess's boyfriend cheated on her

Spencer (played by Ian Wolterstorff) was Jess's boyfriend at the beginning of the show. She was going to surprise him, but he had a surprise girl of his own. We meet him again in the second episode "Kryptonite" when Jess attempts to get her stuff back.
10. As season 1 comes to a close, one of the roommates is about to no longer be a roommate. Who almost moves out of the loft?

Answer: Nick

Nick is ready to move in with Caroline. The U-Haul is packed and Winston and Schmidt are ready to help him. But then that desert gets in the way. In the final episode of the season, "See Ya", Nick drives the U-Haul to the desert instead of to Caroline's.

He then loses his keys in the desert, he and Jess face off with a coyote, Winston deals with his fear of the dark, and Schmidt and Cece reconsider their relationship.
