Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Solving murders became a hobby for this mystery writer, who seemed to have people dropping dead around her no matter where she went. In which television series could we find this amateur sleuth?

Answer: Murder, She Wrote

"Murder, She Wrote" ran for an amazing 12 seasons between 1984 and 1996. Angela Lansbury starred as the insightful Jessica Fletcher for the entire series. With the number of murders that happened around her, it was always amazing that she managed to find people who still wanted to be her friends!
2. After breaking out of military prison (where they were sent after being unfairly convicted) this colourful crew of Vietnam vets made their living by helping out people in trouble. In which show could you find an extremely tough guy, decked out in a lot of bling?

Answer: The A Team

"The A Team" ran for five seasons, from 1983 to 1987. George Peppard starred as the leader of the group, one Col. Hannibal Smith. Dwight Schultz played Howling Mad, Dirk Benedict was Faceman and the flamboyant Mr. T played B.A. The guys always managed to solve their client's problems, and keep form being rearrested.
3. This weekly show presented the viewer with the lives of ordinary people suddenly gone bizarre, usually through some supernatural intervention. Which show invited us "...unlock this door with the key of imagination"?

Answer: The Twilight Zone

"The Twilight Zone" ran for five seasons, from 1959 to 1964. Each week different actors played out the bizarre scene introduced and narrated by Science Fiction genius Rod Serling. The eerie music that opened each episode is arguably one of the most easily recognized pieces in television history, known even to those of us too young to have watched the show when it first aired!
4. This golden oldie gave us a glimpse of the daily struggles in the lives of a bus driver and his buddy who worked in the sewers, and all of their get-rich-quick schemes. In which show did the star regularly threaten to send his wife to the moon?

Answer: The Honeymooners

I was shocked to learn that "The Honeymooners" only ran for one season, from 1955 to 1956. The show was such a classic that it has been referenced, imitated and joked about so many times, I thought that it ran much longer than that. It starred the inimitable Jackie Gleason, and Art Carney, with Audrey Meadows and Joyce Randolph starring as the long-suffering wives.
5. This science fiction show gave us a new, outer-space version of "The Swiss Family Robinson". In which series could we hear a robot sometimes warn "Danger Will Robinson!"?

Answer: Lost in Space

"Lost in Space", running for three seasons, from 1965 to 1968, told the story of the Robinson family, in the then futuristic year of 1997. Their attempt to settle on Alpha Centauri, to escape the overpopulation of Earth, was foiled when the uncalculated weight of stow-away, Dr. Zachary Smith, set them off course. June Lockhart, Guy Williams, Bill Mumy and Angela Cartwright starred.
6. This series showed us the efforts of a former British secret agent to break out of the surreal village where he was being confined. He resisted all of his jailers' efforts to break him and refused to give up his individuality. Which show was this, where people had their names taken away and numbers assigned?

Answer: The Prisoner

"The Prisoner" was another one of those classic shows that is beloved by many and frequently referred to in other series and films, despite the fact that it ran for only one season, from 1967 to 1968. Patrick McGoohan was the prisoner, stripped of his identity and assigned the label Number Six.

Despite all efforts to gain information from him, he was never told where he was or why he was there.
7. This animated series introduced us to the life of the average cave man. In which show could we hear the star frequently declare "Yabba Dabba Do!"?

Answer: The Flintstones

"The Flintstones" ran for six seasons, from 1960 to 1966. It's creative use of Stone Age items and animals to imitate the amenities that we take for granted, made the show worth watching. It spawned the live action films, "The Flintstones" (1994) and "The Flinstones in Viva Rock Vegas" (2000).
8. This usually funny, yet squeaky clean show entertained us with the lives of Rob and Laura (he a writer for a television show and she a house wife and sometimes dancer) and their son. In which show did censors have this married couple sleep in twin beds?

Answer: The Dick Van Dyke Show

"The Dick Van Dyke Show" ran for five seasons and starred, surprisingly enough, Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore. Much of the show's humour was physical, as Van Dyke, with his incredibly long legs, played a bit of a klutz. Moore was excellent as the slightly high-strung wife.
9. This rather well-heeled couple enjoyed chasing around the world and playing at being detectives. They did get themselves into some suspenseful situations, but it wasn't anything they couldn't deal with. In which show did we watch these two solve their cases while entertaining us with frequent, public displays of affection?

Answer: Hart to Hart

"Hart to Hart" ran for five seasons, from 1979 to 1984. It starred Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers as the couple with more money than they knew what to do with. Lionel Sander also starred as Max, their all round servant who could sometimes be counted on to help them out of dangerous situations, but who sometimes led them right into them.
10. The business of trying to take a struggling radio station and make it a successful business provided lots of fodder for the laughs in this show. Of course the colourful cast of characters did its share to help in the laughs department too. What show gave bandages a chance at stardom?

Answer: WKRP in Cincinnati

"WKRP in Cincinnati" ran for four seasons, between 1978 and 1982. It featured such interesting characters as Johnny Fever and Venus Flytrap (played by Howard Hesseman and Tim Reid respectively). But it was the truly eccentric news reporter, Les Nessman, who sported an unexplained bandage on some different, but obvious, part of his body every week, in a running gag.
