Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the episode "Bread and Circuses", when McCoy attempts to express gratitude after Spock saves his life, he says to Spock: "I'm trying to thank you, you pointed-eared ______!"

Answer: Hobgoblin

Spock and McCoy had been forced into gladiator combat. After Spock despensed with his own opponent, he then used his neck pinch to fell McCoy's adversary. McCoy was thankful that Spock saved his life. Spock was, of course, unfazed by the ensuing insult.
2. In the episode "Day of the Dove", when Spock said that he hadn't thoroughly enjoyed serving with humans, Mr. Scott said: "Then transfer out, ____!"

Answer: Freak

Both Scotty and Spock were under the influence of an alien entity that heated up their tempers. Kirk noticed that something must be wrong because they were all getting more violent and angry.
3. Captain Kirk was not above the occasional insult. In the episode "The Squire of Gothos", he called Trelane a "bumbling, inept ____."

Answer: Fool

Trelane was a childish incorporeal alien entity who took human form in order to entertain himself. Later Kirk said that Trelane could be described as "a small boy, and a very naughty one at that."
4. In the episode "The Ultimate Computer", Spock considered what it would be like if McCoy's mind was copied into a computer. Spock said: "The resulting torrential flood of ____ would be most entertaining."

Answer: Illogic

It was common for the episodes to end with the main characters taking jabs at one another. Kirk laughed heartily at Spock's insult, but McCoy was not happy at all!
5. In the episode "Day of the Dove", an enraged Dr. McCoy said to Kirk and Spock: "How many more must die before you two begin to act like military men, instead of ____!"

Answer: Fools

McCoy didn't realize that an alien entity was affecting his emotions, but they should have known that something was wrong on the Enterprise when swords starting magically appearing all over the ship!
6. In the episode "The Way to Eden", what insult do the hippies call Kirk?

Answer: Herbert

Spock had the awkward task of informing Kirk that a "Herbert" is someone with rigid and limited patterns of thought. The hippies had other interesting phrases, like "that's real now", and "I reach that, baby!"
7. In the episode "The Trouble with Tribbles", a brazen Klingon describes Captain Kirk as an "swaggering, overbearing, tin-plated dictator with delusions of ____."

Answer: Godhood

This incident occurred in a bar on a Federation Starbase where Klingons were allowed to visit. Ensign Chekov was enraged by the Klingon's comments, but Scotty told Chekov to sit down and drink his drink.
8. In the episode "The Trouble with Tribbles", a brazen Klingon enrages Mr. Scott when he compares the Enterprise to "a garbage ____."

Answer: Scow

The Klingon then rephrased that by saying that the Enterprise should be hauled away as garbage. Scotty responded with violence. He later had to admit to Captain Kirk that he was one who started the bar room brawl!
9. In the episode "Space Seed", the genetic superman Khan said to Kirk: "Although your abilities intrigue me, you are quite honestly, ____."

Answer: Inferior

Kirk proved he wasn't so inferior when he beat up Khan later in the episode. Despite Khan being much stronger, Kirk was able to defeat Khan by hitting him repeatedly with a engineering tool.
10. In the episode "A Taste of Armageddon", what term does Scotty use to describe Ambassador Fox?

Answer: Popinjay

A "popinjay" is a vain and talkative person. In the same episode, Scotty said "the haggis has hit the fire for sure."
