Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "He had a mean look. I had to freeze him. I like happy looks."

Answer: Charlie X

In the classic "Star Trek" episode "Charlie X," Charlie Evans was rescued by Kirk after being stranded on the planet Thasia for 14 years. The Thasians gave him the power to transmutate matter so he could live on their planet, but once on the Enterprise, Charlie began damaging the ship and crew due to his immaturity.
2. "You are an excellent tactician, Captain. You let your second in command attack, while you look for weakness."

Answer: Khan

Khan Noonien Singh was a genetically-engineered superhuman who took over several nations in the Eugenics Wars in the late 20th century. He was frozen for 200 years in a space cruiser called the "Botany Bay," which was discovered and reactivated by Captain Kirk in the "Star Trek" episode "Space Seed."
3. A commander from which of the following races said this: "He's a sorcerer, that one..."

Answer: Romulan

The Romulan commander (who was played by Mark Lenard, who also played Spock's father Sarek) said this about Kirk after Kirk correctly guessed the Romulan ship's next maneuver. This occurred in a battle after several Earth colonies were destroyed near the Neutral Zone in the "Star Trek" episode "Balance of Terror."
4. "If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross. But it's not for the timid."

Answer: Q

Q told Picard this in the "Next Generation" episode "Q Who?" In this episode, Q wanted to show Picard the dangers of not being prepared for what is to come by exposing the Enterprise to a distant but powerful enemy - The Borg. After this episode, the Borg knew of the Federation's existence...
5. "Your life, as it has been, is over..."

Answer: Locutus

Locutus (The Borg-assimilated Captain Picard) said this in his first message to the Enterprise crew (in the "Next Generation" episode "The Best Of Both Worlds, Part 1"). He concluded that "From this time forward, you will service...us." Commander Riker and crew had been working on modifying the Enterprise main deflector into a weapon, so after Locutus delivered his message, Riker replied with the final line of season 3, "Mr. Worf, fire!"
6. "How many lights are there?"

Answer: Gul Madred

The Gul tortured Captain Picard in the "Next Generation" episode "Chain of Command, Part 2." He used the technique of showing Picard four lights, then tryed to make Picard believe he actually saw five. After being released, Picard admitted to Counselor Troi that there were times that he believed that he actually saw five lights.

The sequence with Madred/Picard is an homage to George Orwell' "1984."
7. "Humans have a way of showing up when you least expect them."

Answer: Sela

Sela was the daughter of the alternate-universe Tasha Yar (seen in the "Next Generation" episode "Yesterday's Enterprise" after the timeline had been changed). She supplied weapons to the Duras family to start a Klingon civil war in "Redemption" and tried to invade Vulcan with a Vulcan ship (filled with over 2,000 Romulan troops) in "Unification, Part 2" but both times, she was foiled by Enterprise crew members.
8. "Policemen...I'd recognize them in any century."

Answer: Professor Moriarty

Moriarty was originally created in the "Next Generation" episode "Elementary, Dear Data" by Lieutenant LaForge to try and outsmart Data in the "Sherlock Holmes" holodeck program. However, the computer made Moriarty sentient, and he even tried to trick crew members into thinking he had left the holodeck in "Ship in a Bottle."
9. "We only seek peaceful coexistence."

Answer: Remmick

Beetle-like parasites took over several high-ranking starfleet officers around the time of the "Next Generation" episode "Coming Of Age," the first episode with Admiral Quinn and his assistant, Commander Remmick. In the episode "Conspiracy," the Enterprise crew learned about the invasion and eventually killed the mother creature - which was living in Commander Remmick himself.
10. "The reign of biological life-forms is coming to an end. You, Picard, and those like you .. are obsolete."

Answer: Lore

Lore was a Soong-type android and Commander Data's "brother." However, Lore consistently caused trouble for Data, including stealing Data's emotion chip and trying to have him kill his friends and take over the Federation in the "Next Generation" two-parter, "Descent." He was disassembled after Data realized what he was doing, and Data eventually had Geordi install the emotion chip into his Neural Net.
