Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the second season of their show, this TV couple announced that they were "expecting" their first child. Who were the parents of a character named Little Ricky?

Answer: Lucy and Ricky Ricardo

Apparently, it was frowned upon at the time to even show a pregnant woman on TV. So, though Lucille Ball was pregnant with her daughter when she filmed the pilot episode of "I Love Lucy", it was not until her second full term pregnancy (with Desi, Jr.) that she was seen that way on screen.

They were only allowed to use the term "expecting" back then (1952). The older version of Little Ricky was played by actor Keith Thibodeaux.
2. What just a second! Vampires CANNOT have babies! They are so very dead after all. But, on the TV series "Angel", such a mind blowing miracle did occur. What did Angel name his son, who was born after his mother staked herself to dust?

Answer: Connor

No, there was no baby Snoop Dogg on "Angel". But, baby Connor was born in an alley, during a rainstorm, after his vampire mother staked herself to save his life. Darla and Angel conceived Connor in mid season two, but he was born in season three. The pregnancy was pre-arranged by a higher being in order to construct yet another mystical pregnancy, so that it could basically give birth to itself. Connor was kidnapped as a baby and raised in a hell dimension called Quor'Toth, but arrived back in Los Angeles several episodes later, 17 years older. Vincent Kartheiser played Connor.

He went on to star as Pete Campbell on the hit series "Mad Men".
3. On which TV series did the main couple NOT have any babies after their show premiered?

Answer: Cliff and Clair Huxtable - "The Cosby Show"

Dan and Roseanne added to their family with the birth of Jerry Garcia Conner. Paul and Jamie had baby Mabel towards the end of their show. Hal and Lois had their fifth child, Jamie, whose gender was not revealed until several episodes after his birth. But, the Huxtables never had anymore babies after the debut of their show. Yes, they did mysteriously acquire another child after the pilot aired, but she was not a baby. Sondra became the eldest of five after they were seen to only have four children initially.

They also lived in a tiny apartment in the pilot, and were magically transported into an impressive house inside a brownstone building afterward. Sondra and her husband Elvin had twin babies, possibly to increase ratings, while in the series. And, Denise married a man named Martin Kendall, who already had a three year old daughter named Olivia. Olivia was played adorably by tiny actress Raven-Symoné, who went on to become a big star independently of her time on "The Cosby Show".
4. In the second season of "Beverly Hills, 90210", the writers decided to incorporate a later in life pregnancy, which went on to spawn massive life forward. Which character's mother gave birth to baby Erin?

Answer: Kelly's

Jackie Taylor fell in love and married Mel Silver, who was the father of David Silver. Jackie became pregnant with baby Erin, whose arrival spawned quite a storyline. Erin's birth prompted Kelly to cancel her plans to go to Paris with Donna. Brenda's parents basically bribed her to take Kelly's place, as they wanted her away from Dylan.

While she was gone, Brenda basically lost Dylan to Kelly, though the story line took a painfully long while to play out. Cut to many years later, and the reboot series "90210" starred actress Jessica Stroup as Silver, Erin Silver to be exact. Jackie passed away on that series, leaving Erin with only sister Kelly and her friends for support.

It was never very clear why David and Mel were not a more active part in her life. We did learn, from Tori Spelling's guest appearance, that David was living in Japan.
5. Airing mostly in the 1990s, on which paranormal themed TV series did one of the characters become pregnant despite being told she was infertile after cancer treatments?

Answer: The X-Files

Dana Scully decided to undergo cancer treatments after she discovered a tumor in her sinus cavity. She was told in season seven she would be unable to conceive a child. But, as the show wore on, I am sure plot lines were harder to come by, and thus a very mysterious pregnancy was revealed in late season seven.

She gave birth to a son, whom she named William. When she felt unable to protect him properly from the dangers associated with her work, she gave him up for adoption into presumed anonymity. Fans were left to believe Fox Mulder was the child's biological father, and later he referred to William as "our son" in a feature length film, "X-Files I Want to Believe". "Teen Wolf" aired in the 2000s on MTV, "Buffy" aired from 1997-2003 and no one was ever pregnant during that series' run, and "True Blood" began airing in the 2000s as well. "The X-Files" aired from 1993-2002.
6. Very late into the series' run of "Friends", character Rachel Green popped out a baby boy named Ben.

Answer: False

Earlier into the series, a good ratings stunt was Phoebe serving as the surrogate for her brother's triplets. Then, at the end of season seven, the audience learned that Rachel was pregnant. Since Monica and Chandler were getting married, Rachel did not reveal the pregnancy at the time. Phoebe found her pregnancy test in the trash and assumed it was Monica who was pregnant.

At the start of season eight, everyone found out about Rachel, and tried to guess the father. It was Ross, of course, and baby girl Emma was born at the very end of season eight. Ben was born in season one, and was the son of Ross and his ex-wife Carol.
7. This question mixes a very old storyline and one that was resurrected years later by way of the hit TV series "Dallas". What was the name of the baby bought by Bobby Ewing for $25,000 way back in 1981?

Answer: Christopher

Christopher Mark Ewing was to become the adopted child of married couple Bobby and Pam Ewing. In turn, that made him the adopted nephew of Ewing rival Cliff Barnes. Writers initially led fans to believe that Christopher's father was JR. But, that turned out to be false, and Sue Ellen's sister Kristen was just trying to extort money from JR.

She had actually miscarried the pregnancy she had with JR. Christopher's biological parents turned out to be Kristen and a man named Jeff Faraday. So, Christopher Ewing is the biological nephew of Sue Ellen. Years later, Pam was burned badly after an auto accident and resulting fire.

She fled Dallas and was never seen again. In the TNT Network reboot, JR was on the hunt for Pam, as she owned 1/3 of Barnes Global, and Cliff was actively trying to ruin to the Ewings, as usual.

Some side story fun facts are- Christopher married a woman named Rebecca, who turned out to be the biological child of Cliff and Afton. So, Cliff's adopted nephew married his biological daughter, who was the biological niece of Chris' adopted mother Pam. Hmm..
8. There is nothing quite like an unplanned teen pregnancy to hit ratings gold. Which very popular teen drama offered fans a glimpse into the hazards of sex when a very smart teenager found herself going into labor at her high-school graduation?

Answer: One Tree Hill

Haley James was a quiet, nerdy, best friend to outcast Lucas Scott when the series began. Lucas was a bit obsessed with Peyton Sawyer, who was the girlfriend of the ever so popular basketball star Nathan Scott. Nathan was Lucas' half brother, and the boys were about 3 months apart in age, Lucas being older. Peyton broke it off with Nathan, and showed interest in Lucas.

This prompted Nathan to use Haley to get back at Lucas. Tables turned when he fell in love with Haley. She refused to consummate their relationship for many months, and the pair ended up married.

She became pregnant soon afterward, though she had tried to be responsible with sex, and went into labor during her graduation speech. James Lucas Scott was born. On "Beverly Hills, 90210", Andrea Zuckerman became pregnant in her Freshman year of college, married the father, and gave birth to daughter Hannah prematurely. Hannah survived, and was briefly mentioned in the first season of the reboot series "90210".
9. Season after season, fans of Fox's "Bones" waited anxiously for Temperance 'Bones' Brennan to realize she was in love with Special Agent Seeley Booth. She finally did realize it, and announced to him that they'd conceived a child together. What did they name their baby girl?

Answer: Christine

The pair finally consummated their partnership after the tragic death of Bones' co-worker Vincent Nigel-Murray in season six. After Angela gave birth to her baby boy, in the season six finale, Bones told Booth she was expecting his child. Christine Angela Booth was born in season seven, and around that same time Bones and Booth moved in together in a house they'd had fixed up.

It was a real dump when they found it, but it was in their mutual price ranges, and turned out to be quite spectacular after extensive repairs had been made. Christine was the name of Bones' mother and Angela was for her best friend, and co-worker, Angela Montenegro Hodgins.

In season eight, Booth and Bones became surrogate parents of a sort when Booth's co-worker, Dr. Lance Sweets, moved into their homes while he searched for his own place and mourned the end of his relationship with Daisy Wick. The three incorrect choices were names of characters off of either "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Angel", or both.
10. During the nine seasons of "The Facts of Life", which main character became pregnant and gave her baby up for adoption?

Answer: None of them did

Back in the 1980s, you did not see much allowance of teen pregnancy on serialized TV. Some TV movies may have, or series would hint at the possibility it could have happened, but our country was not yet ready to see it full force and right up in our faces. This series did, in fact, hint that it could be possible a couple of times, but not for a main character (Blair, Jo, Natalie or Tootie). Natalie was the first of the girls to admit she'd lost her virginity after college had started, though Jo came pretty close in her weird relationship with Eddie. Blair's mother had a late in life pregnancy (at least considered so at that time), and named her baby girl Bailey. Many years later, teen pregnancy and parenthood became a staple of "reality" TV on MTV with the introduction of shows like "16 and Pregnant" and its follow ups "Teen Mom" and "Teen Mom 2".

In 2012, show star Lisa Whelchel, who played socialite Blair Warner, appeared on reality TV herself, as a contestant on the hit series "Survivor". She made it all the way into the final three, as many of her fellow castaways did not realize she was a former TV star. Her secret was out of the bag during the final tribal council/beg the jury for votes portion, and she only received one vote in her favor.
