Maggie was the daughter of Hershel's first wife, Josephine. Josephine appears in "The Walking Dead" only in a photograph, as she died some years prior to the apocalypse. Beth's mother was Hershel's second wife Annette. Hershel keeps Annette in the barn after she turns into a walker, along with Annette's son, and Beth's stepbrother, Shawn.

The Governor, whose real name is Philip Blake, keeps his walker-turned daughter alive, hidden, and locked away in his apartment in Woodbury. He still regards her as "alive" in some sense and can't bear to part with her. Michonne is horrified to discover her, and slays her walker corpse.

After Mika and Lizzie's father dies of the infection that spreads through the prison, Carol temporarily adopts them. Mika is played by Kyla Kenedy and Lizzie by Brighton Sharbino. Carol later adopts another child, Henry, whom she raises with Ezekiel.

After Lydia is captured by Daryl and Michonne and taken to the Hilltop, she is returned to her mother. But Henry follows her. The two end up escaping together. After Henry dies, Daryl takes Lydia under his wing and becomes a sort of adoptive father to her.

Andre Anthony dies before the audience is first introduced to Michonne. His father, Mike, is high when the child is consumed by walkers. Michonne returns to discover the carnage, and ends up keeping the walker-turned Mike, and his friend Terry, with arms cut off and jaws broken, in chains.

She drags the walkers around with her so she won't be bothered by other walkers and as a grim reminder of what happened. Michonne has no last name in the T.V. series, but in the comics, her last name is Hawthorne.

Carl Grimes makes his first appearance in season 1, episode 1, "Days Gone By," and remains with the show until season 8, episode 9. He dies after getting bit by a walker and succumbing to infection.

The family parts ways with the rest of the group when they decide to travel to the CDC in season one. Morales later reappears in season 8, episode 3, "Monsters." At some point, he lost his entire family and joined the Saviors. He is killed by Daryl.

Ed abused his wife Carol, but it's not clear he abused Sophia. Carol, however, expresses concern over the way Ed looks at their daughter. He is killed by walkers, and Sophia is later lost and also killed by walkers. Sophia was played by Madison Lintz, whose brothers Macsen and Matt played Henry, Carol and Ezekiel's adoptive son, at different ages.
