Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who played David Silver?

Answer: Brian Austin Green

Brian Austin Green played David Silver for the entire ten years of the show. Born in 1973, he was one of the few characters who was actually high-school age when the show began, though he was 17 when allegedly playing a Freshman. That's quite reasonable when you consider that 30 year old Gabrielle Carteris was playing 16 year old Andrea.
2. David was younger than the rest of the original gang (Brandon, Brenda, Kelly, Donna, Steve, Dylan and Andrea).

Answer: True

During the show's first season, David was two years younger than the rest of them. He was a Freshman and they were Juniors. However, during season two, David was a Sophomore and everyone else was still Juniors. He remained a year younger for the rest of the series, but he worked hard to graduate high school a year early, so he attended commencement with all of his friends at the end of the third season.
3. Who was David's best friend when the show began?

Answer: Scott

Scott Scanlon was David's best friend and fellow geeky Freshman when the series began. After growing closer to the "cool" kids, David began to ignore Scott. Midway through the second season, in "The Next 50 Years", Scott accidentally shot himself in front of David while playing with a gun. The role of Scott was played by Douglas Emerson.
4. Which girl was David originally interested in, in the first season?

Answer: Kelly

Throughout the entire first season, David was obsessed with the beautiful Kelly. He even won a dance competition in "Spring Dance" to win the chance to dance with her. However, once their parents started dating, David began to see Kelly as more of a sister figure.

In the second season, he grew closer to Donna and eventually fell in love with her. They officially became a couple in the episode "Chuckie's Back".
5. Who was Serge Menkin, to David?

Answer: record producer

In the third season, Steve managed to get David hooked up with Icon Records and producer Serge Menkin. In the episode "Parental Guidance Recommended", Menkin said he would sign David to a contract - only if David would fire Steve as his manager. David agreed, leading to a feeling of tension between him and Steve for a while. David jeopardized his music career a couple episodes later, in "The Child is Father to the Man", by insisting on postponing a recording session so that he could attend Dylan's father's funeral.

In the next episode, "Duke's Bad Boy", Menkin persuaded David to go against his hip-hop roots and record a sickeningly sweet ballad. Icon Records did not go for this and dropped David's contract. He then re-hired Steve as his manager.
6. On which of these days did David break up with Donna, in the fourth season?

Answer: Christmas Day

In a really jerky move on David's part, he broke up with Donna while they were at the Peach Pit serving Christmas dinner to the homeless, because she wouldn't sleep with him. Not only was it Christmas Day, but it was her birthday as well. This was episode 15, "Somewhere in the World It's Christmas".
7. What did David become addicted to, during his first year at California University?

Answer: crystal meth

David began doing crystal meth in the fourth season episode "Crunch Time", under the guidance of Howard, his boss at the radio station. David was having trouble keeping up with attending lectures, doing all of his schoolwork, and working overnight shifts at the radio station, and Howard thought he could use a little bit of an "edge".

In the next episode, "Thicker than Water", David stole codeine from his father's office to attempt to balance out the meth in his system. Unfortunately this combination made David fall asleep while he was babysitting his sister Erin and she went missing.

He tried to stop taking meth after that, but he couldn't. As a consequence of his drug addiction, David's father put him in therapy, Kelly and Donna moved out of the apartment, and he got fired from the radio station.

In "Scared Very Straight", David's dealer was arrested and told the police that David was holding onto his stash of drugs. Luckily Dylan was there to help David out and convinced him to flush it all down the toilet, just moments before the cops stormed the apartment.
8. Who did David cheat on Donna with, in the fourth season?

Answer: Ariel

Ariel was a record company producer who tried to get David to join an up-and-coming band. David declined because the band members were drug users and he didn't want to get back into that scene. Ariel did hook David up with a gig performing with Babyface at California University's carnival. Donna was jealous that Ariel was paying so much attention to David, but he assured her that nothing was going on.

However, when Donna went in search of David after the Babyface concert, she found him in the back of a limo having sex with Ariel.

He admitted that it wasn't the first time they had slept together, so Donna broke up with him and threw him out of their apartment.
9. When did David finally get to have sex with Donna?

Answer: when they graduated from university

They got back together during Steve's birthday party, at the end of season six. Donna finally agreed to sleep with him in the finale of the seventh season, the night they graduated from university.
10. "90210" ended its ten-year run with a spectacular finish - David and Donna's wedding in "Ode to Joy". At David's bachelor party, Steve recited a poem he wrote about all of David's past love interests. Who was NOT mentioned in the poem?

Answer: Holly

Holly was David's piano teacher in the fourth season. He became slightly infatuated with her, but nothing ever really happened between them. Valerie was not mentioned by first name, but was referred to as the "fox named Malone".

This was Steve's poem, "Ode to Silver": "In fair Beverly Hills, a boy did reign. Davey Silver was his name. From far and wide, the girls did speed, for they'd heard of Davey's bedroom deeds. Donna Martin of the golden hair was the first into our David's lair. Virgins we, the couple swore, 'til a girl named Ariel came through David's door. Clare was next, then some fox named Malone. Sophie and David took it all the way home. Denise was fun, and Carole too. Claudia couldn't get her green card; that made poor Dave blue. Don't forget Katie, the sex addict she. And Robyn, who hated his radio personality. Marta, the artist, wasn't she fun? And Gina Kincaid - number one! One stop was left, her name was Camille. We thought it might last, but come on guys, get real! There was only one dame, her name's Donna, she's fine. My God, Silver - it's about time!"
