Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the beginning of this episode we see young Ned's father leave him at the Longburrow School for Boys. What type of animal does Ned bring back to life to cause chaos in science class?

Answer: Frogs

The project for the day is frog dissection and all the frogs coming to life as they are about to be cut results in young boys running around screaming. Since there is always a consequence to Ned bringing something back to life we also see birds falling dead from a tree.
2. In the first episode, we learned that Charlotte Charles (nicknamed Chuck) was raised by her aunts after her father's death. Aunt Lilian and Aunt Vivian have an obsession with cheese which we learn resulted in Chuck not knowing the proper name of a refrigerator. How did Chuck refer to the large white appliance in the kitchen until she was 17?

Answer: The cheese box

Ned and Chuck are in the kitchen and Chuck opens the fridge and says "This is such a small cheese box" leading us to a short flashback of her calling to her Aunt Lily about whether it is ok to freeze the camembert as she looks at the refrigerator full of cheese.
3. Emerson Cod is Ned's partner in solving unusual murders. We learn in this episode that he has a hobby that some people might consider odd for a tough private investigator. What is Emerson's hobby?

Answer: Knitting

Emerson Cod knits during times of stress or anxiety. We see him in his office as he gets a call about another murder with a reward for solving it. Later in the episode we see him stashing his part of the reward in a knitted pouch in a drawer of his desk. He also knits cozies for his handguns.
4. The dead man in this episode appears to be a victim of a hit and run. When Ned, Chuck and Emerson arrive at the morgue to ask him who killed him he tells them "What hit and run? I was killed by a ______." What does Bernard Slaybeck say killed him?

Answer: crash test dummy

According to Bernard he was killed by a crash test dummy. Later in the episode we learn that he was killed by his boss dressed in the clothing and a mask he took from a crash test dummy. After Bernard was already dead the scene was staged to look like a hit and run.
5. Olive Snook is Ned's assistant at his restaurant The Pie Hole. She has a major crush on Ned and is not happy to see him suddenly spending large amounts of time with another woman. As she closes the restaurant we see a musical number performed by Olive. What Olivia Newton John hit does Olive sing while dancing around The Pie Hole?

Answer: "Hoplessly Devoted to You"

"Hopelessly Devoted to You" is from the soundtrack to the movie "Grease". Olive Snook is played by diminutive Broadway actress Kristin Chenoweth so this probably won't be the only musical number we see.
6. Bernard Slaybeck was an automotive safety specialist. Ned and Chuck go to the place where Bernard worked. The name of the car company is Dandy Lion. What unusual fuel powered the new car being sold by the Dandy Lion car company?

Answer: Dandelions

The Dandy Lion SX is the car of the future running on a renewable fuel source that is available everywhere -- dandelions. It's a pretty hideous car but if you could really run a car on dandelions think of all the money you'd save.
7. On Ned and Chuck's first visit to the car company they find a room filled with crash test dummies hanging on hooks. When they go back later with Emerson what is hanging in the room instead?

Answer: Dead bodies

Emerson interupts Ned and Chuck's conversations about secrets by saying "Skeletons in the closet". But they aren't really skeletons, they are dead bodies in silver leotards. One of the bodies says she checked a box saying she could be used to test automobile safety.
8. An informant from the car company tells Ned, Chuck and Emerson about "the bodies in the big hole". While following up on the tip they find the missing crash test dummies. Why did someone try to bury the crash test dummies?

Answer: To dispose of the data in their harddrives

Emerson points out that crash test dummies all have hard drives that record data from tests. You throw away the dummy, you throw away the data.
9. Through a monologue from the head of the Dandy Lion car company Mark Chase, we find out that he killed Bernard because Bernard wanted to stop the release of the Dandy Lion SX. What three things happening at the same time cause a short circuit in the radio of the Dandy Lion SX which "causes a cataclysmic chain reaction that blows the car and its precious human cargo to smithereens"?

Answer: Headlights on, seatwarmer on low, 70 mph

We see this happen to Jeanine the dandelion girl when she is leading Ned, Emerson and Chuck to the hole with the crash test dummies. When the car reached 70 miles per hour with the seatwarmer on low and the headlights on, the radio shortcircuited and the car exploded. Jeanine isn't blown to smithereens but she is shown in traction and covered in bandages.
10. What kind of vehicle does Mark Chase use to try to stop stop Emerson, Chuck and Ned from escaping when he is trying to kill them?

Answer: Hummer

Ironically, the man trying to sell environmentally friendly cars apparently drives a big, yellow Hummer. He rams the Dandy Lion that Ned, Emerson, and Chuck are escaping in knocking it off the road. He runs out of gas before he can catch up with them. The police catch him and he is sent to prison. The Dandy Lion car company goes out of business.
