There were two rules for bringing dead things back. If you touch it again, it dies forever. If it lives for more than a minute, something else must take its place. Olive was portrayed by the petite Kristin Chenoweth, which also offered Olive several occasions to burst into song. Olive's apartment was always decorated with a strong horse theme, but it was not until the death of another jockey did her past come to life. At the show's conclusion, Olive began a new restaurant, called The Intrepid Cow, that served macaroni and cheese.

Knitting certainly did not seem like a natural hobby for Emerson, but his handiwork would occasionally show up, including gun cozies. He also had a love for dim sum, which was convenient as his office was located above a Chinese restaurant. He picked up the hobby of making pop-up books in one episode.

At the end of the series, he published a detective pop-up book, titled 'L'il Gumshoe', which helped his lost daughter to find him. Chi McBride inhabited the character of Emerson.

The Darling Mermaid Darlings were a synchronized swimming duo. Near the beginning of the series, they made an attempt to restart their careers, but the sadness of Chuck's death kept them from going. At the series finale, they got back into the pool. The narrator informed the audience that they later went on a world tour twice. Vivian was played by Ellen Greene and Lily was Swoozie Kurtz.

Chuck grew up calling the refrigerator a 'cheese box'. After her death, Lily and Vivian transformed her room into storage for more cheese. They also became fond of pies that Chuck would have Olive bring them, drugged with herbs to lift their spirits. The aunts have an abundance of oddities, including Lily's obsession with rifles and Vivian's habit of bursting into song.

The narrator, voiced by Jim Dale, would often recount the age or passage of time in this manner, beginning with years. He had a quaint fairy tale like vocabulary, often referring to the grown-up Ned as the pie maker. He would also catch viewers up on the homicides the crew worked on starting with the words: the facts were these.

Answer: Taxidermy

Randy was a very lonely man, that Ned saw as a kindred spirit. He was at first a suspect in the death of his friend, who he had initially hired to be his friend. Randy came back into the characters' lives when Ned hired him to taxidermy some doves for his half-brothers.

He was roped into helping Olive and later the two began a romance. When Olive left Ned's restaurant, the narrator assured us that Randy was at her side. David Arquette was the actor who portrayed Randy.

Answer: Marianne Marie Beattle

Marianne Marie Beattle, played by Beth Grant, originally appeared on the show 'Wonderfalls' attempting to keep her muffin company dream alive. On 'Pushing Daisies', she went against Ned and Olive at a comfort food competition. Bryan Fuller was the creator of both shows.

The episode, 'Bzzzzzzzzz!' referenced the Happy Time temp agency on 'Dead Like Me', another Fuller creation. Delores Herbig was a character on 'Dead Like Me', but she did not appear on 'Pushing Daisies'. Jimmy James was a character played by Stephen Root on the show, 'NewsRadio'.

While Root was on 'Pushing Daisies', his character was called Dwight Dixon.

Simone Hundin was one of four wives to a polygamous dog breeder who was murdered by one of his wives. Simone quickly trained Emerson like she trained her dogs. She was rarely seen without Bubblegum, her late husband's finest dog. She was also involved in illegal gambling at Emerson's favorite restaurant. Christine Adams played Simone.
