Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Ghostfacers"- In order to preserve the reality show concept of the show within a show, the real opening credits for this "Supernatural" episode were shown at the end.

Answer: True

The episode opened with a reality TV series opening. The show was called "Ghostfacers" and was a take off on the series "Ghost Hunters". It starred Harry Spangler, Ed Zeddmore, AJ Corbett, Maggie Zeddmore and Kenny Spruce. A reluctant Sam and Dean were also added onto "Ghostfacers'" opening credits. At the end, Sam and Dean were seen viewing the footage and the real credits rolled.

The Winchesters first met Spangler and Zeddmore in season one's "Hell House".
2. "Ghostfacers"- Who was the ONLY member of the "Ghostfacers" team to be killed?

Answer: AJ Corbett

Poor AJ, the gopher/intern of the crew was killed in the pursuit of ghost busting. Harry and Ed had to convince his ghost to come out of its death loop and help save them all. After all their efforts, and AJ's sacrifice, Sam and Dean erased their hard drives and ruined their episode. Dustin Milligan played Corbett.
3. "Long Distance Call"- Did both Sam AND Dean receive calls from someone who sounded like John Winchester?

Answer: No

Only Dean received calls from the voice of his dead father. In this episode, a demon was using the phone lines to entice folks into walking into his trap. He was a soul sucker, and looked a little bit like Der Kindestod from "Buffy" season two. Der Kindestod was also a soul sucker, but it sucked the souls of children specifically. Sam did get a call from the demon, but it was mimicking Dean's voice, not John's. Jeffery Dean Morgan reprised his voice as John Winchester, but his adorable face was never seen.
4. In "Long Distance Call", Dean remarked to Sam about going to visit a teenaged girl, "Just watch out for _____ ______." Who was it that Dean mentioned?

Answer: Chris Hanson

Chris Hanson is a real life news reporter. On the NBC series "Dateline", Chris became notorious in his role helping to entrap potential pedophiles. The producers set up internet chats with fake youngsters, both male and female. The offenders would chat up the "children" and then come to a house setup as a sting. After the men were interviewed about their misdeeds, they'd be arrested outside of the home. So, Dean was joking about Sam visiting this teen girl who was getting calls from her dead "mother", the demon.

Disclaimer: I use the term "entrap" because that is what I believe they did on the series. I also understand the reasoning behind the sting, and fully support the idea, if not the methodology. If it were just crime busters doing it, and not a TV news series, I wouldn't have been so critical. Initially the series was a huge ratings success. Later, the methods used became questionable when some badness was left in the wake.
5. In "Time is On My Side" a demon is fighting mortality by harvesting human brains and eating them.

Answer: False

Demons are already mostly immortal. They can be exercised from a human body and sent back to hell, or they can be killed by a special Colt. In this episode a doctor found a way to stay alive indefinitely by using a special potion and harvesting human body parts. Sam wanted Dean to consider this method to stave off his trip to hell, but Dean refused.

He said that Dr. Benton was not really alive and that if he broke the deal, Sam died. The satisfyingly creep Billy Drago played the immortal doctor. Sam and Dean buried the ghoul, so that he could die so very slowly and live with what he'd done.
6. Bela's secrets were finally revealed in "Time is On My Side". Which choice is NOT true about Bela Talbot in this episode?

Answer: She'd shot her parents when she was 11

Bela's parents had died in a car crash, at the hands of a demon. She was given ten years to live, and at the end of that time she would be taken to hell to become a demon. It was the same deal Dean had made, but he made his with the Crossroads demon not knowing Lilith was in charge, and he'd only been given one year of life. Bela, originally named Abby, inherited a vast fortune after her parents died.

It seemed unlikely that Bela/Abby killed her parents simply for the money, so I am sure there is more to the story. Bela had stolen the Colt earlier in the season, not to sell it, but to try and save herself from Lilith.

She finally revealed to the men who was in charge in the hopes they could kill Lilith, even if she couldn't save herself.
7. "No Rest for the Wicked"- Which person summoned Ruby and which was able to get her knife away from her?

Answer: Sam summoned her, Dean stole her knife

Dean wanted no part of another allegiance or deal with demons. He said that was the mistake he and John had made time and again to save family. That aside, Dean was prepared and made a devil's trap on the ceiling. Sam summoned her and she arrived. She told Sam that he had inside him what it took to defeat Lilith, if he wanted to access it. Dean was against Sam turning to his dark powers to save him. Dean punched Ruby and a fight ensued.

After they rolled across the floor, Ruby was caught in the trap and Dean had her demon killing knife. Sam was not pleased about leaving her trapped, but Dean had all from her he needed.

The pair headed to Lilith's location, with Bobby following behind.
8. "No Rest for the Wicked"- What was the ironic name of the Indiana town where Lilith was tormenting people for fun?

Answer: New Harmony

Lilith went to Indiana to torment the family of the little girl whose body she now inhabited. It was like a vacation for her, and Ruby called it 'shore leave'. She had the town decked out with her demon minions to alert her of any trouble. Sam, Dean and Bobby tried to be proactive before entering the home, but Lilith was on to their game.

She sent the demons after them, and they only escaped because of a holy water laced sprinkler system. Once inside the home, Dean realized that Lilith had vacated the body of the little girl, and stopped Sam just in time to prevent him from killing the child. Sierra McCormick played the role of the little girl who housed Lilith. Rachel Pattee introduced Lilith in 'Jus in Bello'.
9. "No Rest for the Wicked"- Lilith took over Ruby's body after she vacated the child.

Answer: True

Ruby arrived just as the men were getting ready to enter the Fremont home. Dean asked her how she escaped his trap and she replied "what you don't know about me could fill a book". Well, the truth was that Lilith killed Ruby and took over her human body.

In Lilith's own explanation, she "sent Ruby far away", I assume back to Hell. So, when the hellhounds came for Dean, the trio ended up hiding out inside the Fremont house together. She tried to get Sam to hand the knife over to her before they realized she wasn't Ruby anymore, but Dean realized it in time.
10. "No Rest for the Wicked"- Did the episode end with Dean in Hell?

Answer: Yes

Lilith opened the doors and allowed the hounds, invisible to us, to come after Dean. Sam watched as Dean was torn apart by the hounds. Then, Lilith turned her powers on to Sam, who, it seemed, absorbed them all. When the light of her power faded out, Sam was fine and Lilith was powerless.

She vacated Ruby's old form before Sam had time to knife her and the body crumpled to the ground beside Dean. Sam gathered Dean in his arms and cried, and the scene cut to Dean's spirit being tormented in Hell. It was a very "Hellraiser" type scene, with Dean strung up by hooks in what appeared to be a very void-like location. How will Sam get Dean out of Hell? Stay tuned to season four to find out.
