On the April 10, 1999 episode of "Saturday Night Live", a sketch about an episode of the children's show "Happy Smile Patrol" aired. The theme of the episode was "Making Friends With Smiles!" The episode was constantly interrupted by the news of a crime spree performed by the show's cast. Members of the cast had apparently joined a cult titled "The Eagle of Christ". At the end, the cast of the show took their own lives.
