Answer: To get away from the guys after they deceived him

After returning from the guys' trip to the North Magnetic Pole in the second season's finale, Sheldon learned that the guys had used an electric can opener to fake the results of his experiments. According to Howard, when they didn't succeed he started acting like a "dictator". Sheldon then left Pasadena to stay at his mother's home, which he thought would last for the rest of his life. However, Mary Cooper is a devout Christian, and her believe in the biblical story creationism caused Sheldon to go back to Pasadena.

Answer: Common field cricket

When Sheldon heard the cricket chirping, he believed it was a Snowy Tree Cricket. Howard thought that it was a Common Field Cricket. So they made a bet that whoever was right on the species got to keep the other's comic book. Sheldon bet his Flash of Two Worlds and Howard bet his Fantastic Four #48.

After finding the cricket, with Raj's help, they took the cricket, which Howard nicknamed "Toby", to Caltech's entomologist. He identified the cricket as a Common field cricket, and Sheldon lost.

Answer: Chocolate

After Penny and Leonard slept in Leonard's room, Penny made them French Toast, which Sheldon rejected and dumped in the trash. Sheldon then told Penny about his rules, which included taking cell phone conversations to the hallway. He gave her chocolate when she followed them. Leonard was not happy about that, but came to like it.

Answer: Raj

Raj had been coming up with nothing during his recent studies for six months, and he knew he was going to lose his job. Sheldon offered Raj the opportunity to work for him, which he accepted, very reluctantly. After disagreeing about Sheldon's equations for the annihilation factor resulting from collisions of dark matter in space Raj left Sheldon's office and went to his apartment. After Sheldon apologized and said Raj was right, but did not acknowledge that he was wrong, Raj took the job back and drove Sheldon home.

Answer: Problems with their mothers

Leonard asked Penny to set Howard up with one of her friends, due to a pact Leonard and Howard had made. She did and the four of them went on a double-date. Howard tried to talk to Bernadette, but until they learned about problems with their overprotective mothers, they didn't have a good conversation. Howard tried asking her questions like, "You like magic?" or "You like computers?" and always got answered "no." One of Bernadette's problems included not being able to ride a bicycle because her mother was afraid of her hitting a rock and losing her virginity.

Answer: La Brea Tar Pits

When Leonard, Howard, Raj, and Sheldon went kite-fighting Raj lost his Patang kite to Sheldon because Howard left Raj to chase a jogger. Raj fumed at Howard and it wasn't until Howard went to Raj's apartment to apologize that Raj forgave him. They then visited the La Brea Tar Pits, but Howard noticed a jogger who he thought smiled at him. Raj said that he could chase her, but Howard said no and that the jogger wasn't really smiling at him anyway. Raj said that she kind of was, and Howard went to chase after her.

Answer: Justin

After learning Penny's friend Justin was staying with Penny, Leonard and Penny had an argument. This disagreement was upsetting to Sheldon. Sheldon went to The Cheesecake Factory during Penny's work and asked her to, "crawl back to Leonard." Penny explained that that wasn't going to happen.

It wasn't until Leonard and Penny went searching for Sheldon and found him at the comic book store that Sheldon was assured that there would be no more arguing. Penny added that because they were in a relationship, they would fight.

The only time we saw Justin was when he was sleeping on Sheldon's couch at the end of the episode.

Answer: Penny slipped in the shower

When Raj, Leonard, and Howard were away camping Sheldon was alone in his apartment when he heard Penny scream from across the hall. Sheldon knocked on Penny's door in his usual fashion, entered, and found Penny in the bathroom. Penny said she had slipped and dislocated her shoulder.

Sheldon helped Penny get dressed. Sheldon then drove Penny to the emergency room very slowly, but it was alright. Penny's arm was in a cast at the end of the episode, and was under strong painkillers. She was happy with Sheldon's help, and they sang the "Soft Kitty" song in a round together.

Answer: Sheldon's voice became high-pitched

Barry Kripke filled Sheldon's office with helium so his voice became high-pitched during Sheldon's talk on the National Public Radio talk show Science Friday. Sheldon, with the help of Raj and Leonard, created a prank where foam would drop from the ceiling of Kripke's office when it detected motion. When Kripke walked into his office along with the university's president and board of directors, they all got covered with foam. Sheldon's video that he set up to play when that happened announced that Leonard, Raj, and Sheldon were responsible.

Answer: Ancient Greece

Due to Bernadette's interest in physics, Leonard and her started to talk about it a lot. Penny wished to be able to discuss Leonard's work with him, so he asked Sheldon to teach her about it. Sheldon wasn't helpful, and gave a long lecture about the history of physics, starting in Ancient Greece.

Sheldon also told Penny she would have to take notes as Sheldon talked, and even take tests.

Answer: His grandma died

Penny was upset that Leonard hadn't told her she was coming, and that Leonard hadn't told his mom they were together. Sheldon was pleased that Beverly was coming, and Leonard wasn't, especially after he learned about all the things his mother hadn't told him.

This included his parents in-progress divorce, his dog dying, and his mother having surgery. After Beverly and Penny went drinking, they returned home intoxicated, and Beverly kissed Sheldon, which Leonard never heard about.

Answer: A Green Lantern lantern

After Leonard and Howard left on a double date with Howard and Bernadette. Raj bribed Sheldon to go to a university mixer with him if Sheldon could bring a Green Lantern lantern. Raj and Sheldon met two girls named Abby and Martha there, and Raj and Sheldon brought them to Leonard and Sheldon's place. For a second date, Abby and Martha went to Leonard and Sheldon's place, and Sheldon was bribed to go along with it if he could wear his Hulk Hands.

After Raj and Abby started to make out, Martha attempted to sleep with Sheldon, and was allowed access to his room while he was trying to go to sleep.

Sheldon then went to sleep in Leonard's room.

Answer: Comic books

After Leonard and Sheldon returned home from dinner they discovered their TV, laptops, their video game consoles, and all of their video games had been stolen. However, their comic books were not. After Howard set up a security system for them, (an electric net over the door was included) Sheldon decided to move out of Pasadena, he decided on Bozeman, Montana. After some guy stole his luggage as soon as he arrived at Bozeman's train station, he went back to Pasadena.

Answer: Bernadette counting to three

Bernadette, Howard, Penny, and Leonard had just gone roller skating where the guys severely embarrassed Penny and Bernadette. However, Howard and Leonard thought they did great. When Penny and Leonard walked in the door they immediately tripped on marbles Sheldon had set up.

Sheldon explained what he was doing, and Bernadette asked him the time when he last slept. Sheldon said it may have been 48 to 72 hours. Bernadette then started to count to three, and Sheldon went to bed. Bernadette said she knew how to handle children because her mom used to run an illegal daycare center in their basement.

Sheldon finally figured out the problem after becoming a waiter at The Cheesecake Factory and spilling some plates. Sheldon was never hired, so he didn't clean it up.

Answer: Raj

When Leonard announced he was filling in for the university's original visiting physicist, Sheldon assumed he would be brought because of their roommate agreement. Leonard decided to take Penny, despite Sheldon's pressure put on both Leonard and Penny.

After Penny was shown Sheldon's PowerPoint explaining why he should go instead of Penny, Penny assured him that she would talk to Leonard, and Sheldon hugged her. Leonard would have taken Penny, but Penny got sick, and so did Sheldon. Sheldon marveled at how he had gotten sick, and figured out it was because he had hugged Penny. Leonard took Raj to Switzerland, and the episode ended with them in their room.
