Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In this episode a crew member "downloads" a multitude of Voyager's logs into his/her own memory. The crew member then begins to see possible conspiracies everywhere. At first, this person believes Janeway came to the Delta Quadrant as an advance scout for the federation. Then he/she uses the same facts to assert that the Maquis had planned to use the Caretaker's power to try and destroy the Cardassian empire. Who was this crew member seeing conspiracies everywhere?

Answer: Seven of Nine

This episode entitled "The Voyager Conspiracy" incorporated a lot of interesting events from the past and made them seem sinister. It caused Janeway and Chakotay to lose faith in one another for a very brief period of time. Thankfully, they were able to return Seven to normal.
2. In this episode much of the plot is focused on this crew member's life before he became a member of Voyager. The episode is centered around his time aboard the ship Excelsior captained by Hikaru Sulu. It chronicles a period of his life when he was unsure he wanted to be a member of Starfleet. One of the interesting things about this episode is that it is a subplot to the movie "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country". Who is this crew member?

Answer: Tuvok

This episode, aptly named "Flashback", shows us a younger Tuvok who did not have the conviction of the Tuvok we have all come to know and love. During this episode it shows how he contracted a virus on the Excelsior that ended up being a source of aggravation for the crew of Voyager many years later.
3. The Voyager crew gets stuck in the orbit of a planet where time moves much faster than it does in "normal space". The crew notices that for every second that passes on the ship, one day passes for people on the planet. When Voyager is first noticed by this planet's early humanoids they think the ship is a god. As the world progresses these citizens begin to discover that it is actually a ship and that it may be causing their world to have massive earthquakes. During this time, Janeway wants to learn more about the planet and she sends someone down to get information. This person inadvertently ends up spending 3 years there. Whom did Janeway send?

Answer: The Doctor

This episode guest starred Daniel Dae Kim before his "Lost" and "Hawaii Five-O" days. Voyager ended up being a big part of this world's culture. They were known as the Skyship and even inspired a line of toys known as the "Skyship Friends."
4. A member of the Q Continuum decides that he wants to commit suicide. The rest of the Q is firmly against this and would rather exile him to an eternal prison. This sets up a trial where the main argument is on whether or not a person should be able to choose when they die. During the trial a "Star Trek: The Next Generation" crew member is summoned to the ship by the Q that most fans are familiar with. Who was this "Next Generation" crew member?

Answer: William Riker

In the end the depressed Q gets his wish and is allowed to stay on board Voyager. Captain Janeway asks him to reconsider and embrace his life as a human as opposed to killing himself. Her request falls on deaf ears as shortly after he wins the trial he poisons himself.
5. A crew member inadvertently interferes with a Kazon rite of passage ritual. The crew member was meant to be killed by this young Kazon but instead he overpowers the teenager and then frees him. This humiliates the young Kazon and his people reject him. He tells the Voyager crew member that he should have killed him so that he wouldn't have to live in disgrace. Who was this crew member?

Answer: Chakotay

This episode named "Initiations" had another Star Trek alumni guest starring in it. The young actor who had played Nog, Aron Eisenberg, in 'Deep Space Nine' played the teenaged Kazon.
6. Two crew members beam up to the ship with a strange flower. This flower disrupts the transporters and the two crew members end up being merged into one being. Which two crew members were merged?

Answer: Neelix and Tuvok

This is arguably one of the best episodes in Voyager's seven year run. This episode explores the definitions of life and the difficulties of loss. Tuvok and Neelix merge to become Tuvix. He contains the memories and feelings of both men but becomes a unique individual unto himself. In the end, he is asked to give up his existence so that the other men can return.
7. In the pilot episode of Voyager, which crew member has to be extracted from a penal facility?

Answer: Tom Paris

Tom Paris was serving time for being involved in the Maquis rebellion. He agreed to help them if it meant that time would be cut off his sentence. He helped guide them through the Badlands.
8. A scientist comes on board Voyager named Ma'Bor Jetrel. He is seeking to right a terrible wrong he once did. This heinous act directly affected one of the Voyager crew. What was the act and who did it affect?

Answer: He created a weapon that conquered Talax and wiped out Neelix's family.

He was aboard Voyager to try and bring those that he destroyed back to life. His experiment failed and he died without making amends to those that he killed. However, in his last moments Neelix went to him and told him that he had forgiven him.
9. The Delta Quadrant can get mighty lonely. No one knows that better than this crew member who started a relationship with a character in a holodeck simulation. The character she dated was Michael Sullivan? Who was this crew member?

Answer: Kathryn Janeway

Captain Janeway felt silly at first dating a holodeck character but the Doctor pointed out to her that she couldn't really start a romantic relationship with anyone on the crew. Also, he said that the occasional off world relationship would probably go nowhere so why not a holodeck character.
10. This crew member becomes pregnant and wants to manipulate the DNA of her child to look less like her and more like her father. She doesn't want the child to be a hybrid who gets teased about not being a full blooded species of one race. Who is this crew member?

Answer: B'Elanna Torres

B'Elanna felt like an outcast growing up being half-human and half-Klingon. She did not want her daughter going through the same type of pain. Tom is firmly against this though and doesn't want to change a thing about his soon to be daughter.
