Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. From the episode "Phantom Traveler", inside the plane Dean was humming Metallica to calm himself down. What song was he humming?

Answer: Some Kind of Monster

Here are quotes from the episode "Phantom Traveler":
Sam: "You're humming Metallica?"
Dean: "It calms me down."
2. What is the title of the AC/DC song that was played in the episode "Bloodlust", just after the episode began?

Answer: Back in Black

"Back in Black"; it fits so perfectly with the scene: Dean and Sam back on the road in that gorgeous, shiny, black car.
3. In the "Pilot" episode of "Supernatural", what song is playing when Sam and Dean are in the Impala and Sam is calling Dean's music "the greatest hits of mullet rock"?

Answer: 'Back in Black', AC/DC

Quotes from the "Pilot":
Dean: "What's wrong with my music?"
Sam: "Well, first of all, they're cassette tapes. And second: Black Sabbath? Motorhead? Metallica? Dean, it's the greatest hits of mullet rock."
Dean: (puts in a tape) "House rules Sammy, driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cake hole."
Sam: "Sammy is a chubby 12-year-old. It's Sam."
Dean: "Sorry, can't hear you, the music's too loud."

Notice, Sam reads off the tape "Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Metallica" but Dean puts in the same tape and AC/DC starts playing.
4. What song was played in the heartbreaking finale of season one, during the car crash?

Answer: 'Bad Moon Rising', Credence Clearwater Revival

"Bad Moon Rising" is the right answer. "Fight The Good Fight", and "Turn To Stone" was played earlier in this episode, and "You Shook Me All Night Long" was one of the wrong answers because it is stuck in my head all day today.
5. In the episode "Simon Said", during the part when Sam and Dean were in the Roadhouse, when Jo was tidying up she put on music. What song?

Answer: 'Can't Fight this Feeling', REO Speedwagon

Quotes from "Simon Said":
Dean: "REO Speedwagon?"
Jo: "Damn Right REO. He sings it from the heart."
Dean: "No, he sings it from the hair. There's a difference."

Later on in the car, Dean is singing that song.
Sam: "Are you joking?"
Dean: "I heard the song somewhere. Can't get it out of my head."
6. In the episode "What is And What Should Never Be", when Dean is mowing the lawn, what song is playing?

Answer: 'What A Wonderful World', Joey Ramone

Such a great moment! Dean finally got his chance to see what a normal life is like.
Quotes from "What is and What Should Never Be":
Dean: (looks out the window) "The lawn looks like it could use some mowing."
Mary: "I don't think you've ever mowed a lawn in your life." (a few seconds pass) "Knock yourself out."
Dean starts mowing the lawn. The neighbor from across the street is taking out the trash and Dean waves to him. Then the song comes on "I see trees of green, red roses too" (etc...)
After that episode I started showing a sudden interest in mowing lawns. "Mow, Mow, Mow Your Lawn" = too much sugar for me today.
7. The episode "Houses of the Holy" shares a title with an album and song by what band?

Answer: Led Zeppelin

Here is a verse from the song by Led Zeppelin:
'Here's an angel on my shoulder, In my hand a sword of gold
Let me wander in your garden. And the seeds of love I'll sow. You know. '

The part where it says 'here's an angel on my shoulder' is probably one of the reasons that the people choosing the title went with this one. The episode is about angels. As well, some there is a church and a priest involved, so the word 'holy' fits in perfectly.
8. In the episode "Road Kill", whenever Greeley's ghost appears on the road, what is the song that starts playing out of nowhere?

Answer: 'House of the Rising Sun ', The Animals

That song, "House of the Rising Sun", really gave a creepy effect to the episode. It is played in the beginning when Molly and David see the man on the road, and also when Dean and Sam are driving Molly off the highway to "take her to the police".
9. What is the song that is played in the beginning of the episode "All Hell Breaks Loose Pt. 2"?

Answer: None of These

None of these songs were played in "All Hell Breaks Loose Pt. 2". The song that was played in the beginning of the episode is called "Carry on My Wayward Son" by Kansas.
10. What is the name of the song that was played in two different episodes (once in season one and one time in season two) in the part where there were flashbacks?

Answer: 'Carry on My Wayward Son', Kansas

Mixed with words from the flashbacks of episodes, "Carry on My Wayward Son" makes a very dramatic start to two very dramatic episodes: "Salvation" in season one, and "All Hell Breaks Loose Pt. two" in season two.
