The Impala was first introduced in the late 1950s, and its style and engineering changed dramatically over the years. The 1967 model was had Coke-bottle styling and front and rear fender bulges. In the sixth episode of season 7, "Slash Fiction," the leviathans framed the brothers for a murder spree, making them wanted men throughout the United States. Bobby's friend, Frank Devereaux, taught them how to get off the grid, and that included hiding Baby and using a series of junk cars instead. Stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles missed the Impala during this period, and publicly stated that the cars that were used during this time were referred to by the acronym "POC," which stood for "piece of c___" by cast and crew, and even in scripts.

The Impala finally returned in the last episode of season 7, "Survival of the Fittest."

Answer: Army man

During "Swan Song," Chuck told the story of the child cramming his army man into the ashtray, and the scene was shown in flashback. Later in the episode, while Sam was possessed by Lucifer, the sight of the army man reminded him of his life with his brother, and gave him the strength to briefly take control back from Lucifer.

The car was rammed by a tractor trailer truck, driven by a demon, in the season 1 finale, "Devil's Trap." Dean rebuilt the car the next season and it was back on the road by the third episode of season 2, "Bloodlust."

The car had Kansas plates, with the number "KAZ 2Y5" for season 1 and most of season 2. After "Folsom Prison Blues," the brothers changed to Ohio plates with the number "CNK 80Q3." In "After School Special," set in 1997, the car had a Kansas plate with the number "BQN 9R3."

The car had a radio and casette tape player, but no CD player. There were many episodes in which Dean popped a tape into the casette player, most notably, "Pilot," "No Rest for the Wicked," and "Swan Song." In "Lazarus Rising," when Dean returned from Hell, he found that Sam had installed an iPod jack. He ripped it out and tossed it in the backseat.

When Dean got in the car, he said he was happy Sam did not "douche her up" while he was gone, but asked if Sam smelled a dog. Sam said he did not. Later, when Sam told Dean about hitting the dog and his life with Amelia and Dog (Yes, Sam named the dog "Dog"), Dean said, "I knew I smelled a dog." He told Sam, "The rules are simple, Sam. You don't take a joint from a guy named Don and there's no dogs in the car." In season 9, however, the brothers had a case where a dog was the witness, and they let that dog ride in the car. That episode, "Dog Dean Afternoon," also had Dean acting like a dog due to a spell cast so that he could communicate with their canine witness.

There were many episodes where the trunk's weapons were on display. The weapons included knives, guns, ninja stars, salt, dead man's blood, and holy water. There were also episodes where the brothers imprisoned demons in the trunk, since the inside of the trunk door has a large Devil's Trap on it. (When the demon was Crowley in "Devil May Care," Dean referred to him as "The junk in my trunk.") The brothers often pulled duffel bags of clothes out of the trunk when arriving at hotels, as well. However, the only episode where a spare tire appeared was, "What is and What Shall Never Be," when a djinn created an alternate reality in Dean's mind, making him a "civilian."

In "The Real a Ghostbusters," the brothers attended a "Supernatural" convention and encountered a row of cars like their own in the parking lot. In "The French Mistake," they encountered the cars on the television set in the alternate reality where Balthazar sent them.

While the leviathan doubles were seen in a car like Baby in "Slash Fiction," it was not on screen at the same time as Dean's car, since the brothers had stashed the car, on Frank's advice.

The trickster turned Sam into the car, complete with his voice coming from the car's audio and the same theme music for the car that was used for KITT in "Knight Rider." This allowed for some classic lines and moments. When Dean was searching in the trunk, Sam said, "That, uh, feels really uncomfortable." Dean then slammed the trunk closed, and Sam said, "Ow." Later, when the Trickster asked where they got the holy oil, Dean responded, "You might say we pulled it out of Sam's __."
