Answer: Scrooge McDuck swimming in pools of money

Dean found an article about the two people spontaneously combusting and told Sam about it. When referring to the female victim, he said, "The old lady? Loaded! I'm talking Scrooge McDuck swimming in pools of money." Later, when the brothers found her remains at the scene, Dean called her "Scrooge McDuck lady." "Scrooge McDuck" was a Disney character.

Answer: The Thule

After two people were burned to death, the brothers investigated the antique shop that was the scene of the attack. They mentioned curse bags, thinking the killer might be a witch, and the possibility of cursed objects. Then, Sam discovered a photo of the antique watch on the computer and Dean discovered the hidden room of Nazi memorabilia.

In light of that, and the fact that the Thule had killed the rabbi the same way in "Everybody Hates Hitler," the brothers were sure they were hunting the Thule.

Answer: Mary

Mary saved the young boy in 1980. She told the child she was retiring, but was just "tying up a few loose ends." Later in the episode, Sam pointed out that she had tried to quit hunting back then, but was still hunting. He said hunting was "in our blood."

Answer: "Roll On Down the Highway" by Bachman-Turner Overdrive

"Roll On Down the Highway" was playing. The child took a photo of her as Mary left him. As the montage started, he put up the photo and started writing unsent letters to her, he learned about hunting, kept clippings of unusual deaths, eventually became a hunter himself, and then died, hung in the woods.

Answer: "Be proud of your hobbies."

The brothers stopped in to visit Jody during her day off/Netflix night. Dean was surprised to find out the sheriff liked romantic comedies. He asked, "Are you a rom-com chick?" She asked, "Are you?" Sam replied that, "He's more of an animated Japanese erotica chick." When Jody left to answer the phone, Dean said to his brother, "Don't tell her that." Sam asked, "Tell her what?" Dean said, "It's Jody, man." Sam said, "Dude, be proud of your hobbies."

Answer: Crossroad demon

This episode had a bit of everything. It started with a werewolf kill, then there was a room full of hunters - two of whom were twins raised by a witch - lots of family drama, a little throwback to "And Then There Were None" with people getting killed off in the house, and Billie the reaper showing up.

The killer who was hunting the hunters, and who the brothers ended up hunting, though, was a crossroad demon.

Answer: Words with Friends

Sam discovered his brother playing "Words with Friends" on his phone. He said, "So I've been trying to dig up info on the British Men of Letters, keeping an eye out for cases, and you've been goofing off with a game that went out of style five years ago?" Dean replied, "I don't think mom's quite ready for "Snapchat." Sam then told him he did not think it was fair to play against Mary, since she had just returned from heaven - just before Mary hit Dean with a 98-point word.

The brothers then silently acknowledged Mary could hold her own in the game, newly back from heaven or not.

Answer: Ladyheart

The band was Ladyheart. The Jordy Boys, Rock House, and Zoot are all bands that have included Rick Springfield, the actor who played Vince Vincente in "Rock Never Dies."

Answer: Alfalfa sprouts and kale

Dean's list also included: "smell of sweaty desperation," "you can't breathe," and "the pizzas are toxic." Sam, of course, did not hear any of this, since he had his earbuds in, listening to Ladyheart.

Answer: Feathers

It was entertaining to watch Cas and Crowley work together. Crowley drove Cas crazy. Cas told the brothers that, "Frankly, I appreciate the break. It's been weeks. And he's been right there. Just talking and talking and talking; it's relentless!" Crowley then walked up and said, "Don't listen to him. Feathers and I are all but inseparable now."

Answer: A television reality show star

At the beginning of the episode, billionaire philanthropist Wallace Parker had been killed. The brothers realized he had been possessed by Lucifer. Lucifer then possessed the Archbishop of St. Louis. And, after burning through that vessel, he moved on to the President of the United States (POTUS).

The show had a little fun playing with that acronym, and changing it to "LOTUS" for Lucifer of the United States - using that as the title of the episode.

Answer: They turned upside down

One of the creepiest scenes of the episode was when the Archbishop walked down the hall of the church. As he walked past each crucifix, it turned upside down. This was also how the priest determined the Archbishop was possessed - although he thought it was by a demon.

In addition, the scene was a bit of a callback to "Something Wicked" in season 1, when the brothers thought an elderly woman was evil because the cross was upside down in her hospital room. In that case, the nail holding the cross to the wall was simply loose.

Answer: British Men of Letters

Sam called Mick Davies, but hung up when he got his voice mail. However, the fact that he called led the British Men of Letters to send Mr. Ketch. Fortunately, Ketch showed up in time to save the brothers from Secret Service agents, and to give them a weapon that could expel an angel from its host.

Answer: A Nephilim

Castiel was bombarded by angel radio, saying that "a Nephilim has come into being." A Nephilim is the product of an angel and a human - in this case, the product of The President's girlfriend Kelly and Lucifer. "Supernatural" viewers first heard of Nephilims when Metatron and Castiel killed one during "Clip Show" in season 8.

Answer: Impeach LOTUS; Find Rosemary's Baby.

Dean's line was amusing, and referenced the 1968 Roman Polanski film in which a young woman named Rosemary was impregnated with the Devil's baby. The brothers, with help from Cas, Crowley, and Rowena, were able to exorcise Lucifer and save the President.

However, Castiel lost Kelly, the young woman carrying the Nephilim, and the brothers were captured by the Secret Service. This set up a cliffhanger for the seven week mid-season hiatus.
